Splitfish to debut FragFX Shark controller for PS3, PC and Mac systems‎

Splitfish has just announced the FragFX Shark, the company’s latest gaming controller that is compatible with Sony PlayStation 3, PC and Mac set-ups.

Intended as an eco-friendly peripheral, the FragFX Shark runs on one AA battery, which should deliver 50 hours of game time and up to 500 hours on standby.

is it?? NEways this is old news. Announced at E3 by splitfish. BUT I WANNA SEE IT EARLY!!!!

DirtyLary5738d ago

Cracks me up how people think they will get pc mouse digital control using this.

It's an analog device, it's going to have the same deadzone as any controller. Move along no serious advantage vs a controller player, just comfort.

bad timing don't you think? will they sell many from September onward? i doubt it

JsonHenry5739d ago

Lots of PC gamers will probably buy this. Most console gamers are terrified of using a mouse.

Cenobia5739d ago

Terrified?

I would say console gamers don't buy this because it's borderline cheating.

Also, most console gamers don't sit at a desk.

evrfighter5739d ago

pc gamers will buy a xim.

I'm loving mine.

LeonSKennedy4Life5739d ago

For PC and Mac gamers, this might not be a bad deal.

PS3 gamers will have Move.

bostoner5739d ago

but you can use the left portion with the move. Since its just a controller itself. I was hoping for some more buttons on the aforementioned part. O well one extra trigger ain't bad.

LeonSKennedy4Life5739d ago

Why the disagrees?

I use a mouse and keyboard on my PS3 for everything but playing games.

I'll just switch to the Move when it comes out.

ELite_Ghost5739d ago

the splitfish supports every game.

Move supports only a couple...

So, in case for the PS3.

Instead of using a Keyboard, is using a controller similar like the Navigator Controller, and instead of the Move Controller, is using a Mouse, for 2D.

So, you have variety to play games on PS3:

With the normal Controller:
DS3 Controller.

Motion Controller for 3D, Facial, Body and Voice Recognition:
Navigator (or DS3 Controller), Move and PS Eye.

Keyboard and Mouse compatible in games:
Using Eagle Eye, Predator etc.

And now a Combination of the Navigator and a Mouse:

Splitfish, FragFX Shark controller.

PC have this too, but now that a Console have this types of Variety to play, is amazing.

Nice i have been playing this way on pc for a while, mouse one hand 360 controller in the other very keen to try if its not too expensive.

Senden5456d ago

Looks awesome however I wonder how well it'll work on games with aim assist on? COD especially suffers from this quite badly might be a bit annoying using the controller with games like that.

Scrotie_McBoogerball5456d ago

I don't know about you guys but when I am on a console I want the control.

This thing looks le poop.

RevXM5456d ago

FragFX Pro SUCK!
This will to, like all the other hybrid stick emulating mouse controllers...

r1sh125456d ago

I also think that frag x pro's suck, i wouldnt be surprised if this was the same.
The best controller for FPS IMO is the xbox controller, they should release it without the heavy ass battery pack and make it flat with built in batteries like the ps3 controller. They have already released the fix for the dpad, if the battery pack is removed and built in batteries are used I will buy that controller.

montyburns0005456d ago

built in battery pack? why, so i have to tether myself to the console every time the charge gets low?

I have used eneloops for years and it's the best solution by far. no need for a cord and no need to buy replacement batteries. and as for heavy? are you really that weak?

r1sh125456d ago

Im not that weak..but the difference in weight is pretty extreme when compared to the ps3 controller. Built in batteries, unlike you I have more than 1 controller so I leave 1 battery pack charging whilst I use the other in the controller Im playing with. Then switch, so if the controller had built in batteries...BUY 2 controllers.

arjman5456d ago

@monty
You act as if you have to charge the controller every minute, I haven't charged my dualshock for god knows how long.
You could easily do a solid gaming session (4hrs) on a fully charged controller.

paintsville5456d ago

Wow this looks pretty awesome. It'll be great online fragging on Xbox Live. PSN.....not so much.

Several years ago I bought the first FragFX for the PS3. In all honesty it didn't work all too well. I played a bunch Resistance with it and ended up just going back to the Sixaxis controller. The way that the mouse works to replace the right analog stick just didn't feel right.

Joystiq: Splitfish FragFX Shark preview: elegant weapon for a more civilized age

Joystiq: "Perhaps you don't like playing first-person shooters on consoles, because you think controls can't get any better than a keyboard and mouse. Or maybe you won't play first-person shooters on the PC because you're worried about the price of hardware upkeep. Splitfish hopes to cater to both possibilities with its FragFX Shark controller combo."

CombineElite5659d ago

Your not gonna replace the keyboard for the simple fact that i use 17 keys when i play STALKER so that thing doesn't have enough buttons. But it may be good for some games but not the complicated ones.

Ripten Hardware Review – Splitfish FragFX Shark

Ripten: "As many know, the competition for peripherals is getting fierce out there with the emergence of Razor, SteelSeries and anything the Wii has to offer. So how does one compete? Some brilliant company decides to recruit the reigning champion of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, professional gamer, Dennis ZDD Dozier to help test and create one of the most inventive and exciting game controllers I’ve seen yet. What is this glorious piece of equipment, you might ask? Well, it’s the Shark from Splitfish."

Bounkass5660d ago

Don't cheat! Play with proper (non-"turbo")control ler!

CrzyFooL5659d ago

Yah, using this for PS3 is like cheating
