Starting with PS3 then Xbox-360 we have two screenshots of Timeshift.

Bazookajoe_836850d ago

For me nextgen is High defenition, Wii is not nextgen. Ps3 and xbox360 are the only ones that are pushing the limits of what have been seen on consoles.

eclipsegryph6850d ago

So "next generation" = "improved graphics". I personally think it's that method of thinking which will stagnate the business. Fortunately, though, the graphics whores are few.

Bazookajoe_836850d ago

But for me it´s makeing as lifelike or as visual compelling game as possible.

A game that is sold on next generation console? So if they would make a new gamecube you would call it nextgen?

jigaman6850d ago

You really don't know what next gen is if your definition is "High Definition". HD is but one aspect (a small one at that) of gaming. In fact for the most part it's just a nicer way to view your television. Did you even read the article? Each concole is pushing "next-gen" in thier own way (In my opinion). But hey we're all entitled to our own opinion no matter how inaccurate or misinformed it might sound (generally speaking).

WVmetal6850d ago

Its really exciting to be a part of the gaming scene right now. There is going to be some amazing things in store for us gamers in the future.

eclipsegryph6850d ago

A next generation game is a game that will be sold in the NEXT generation of consoles, whenever that will be. Is it really that difficult to understand?

Oooooh, I get it, this is the slang definition of the term "next gen". I thought we were already over that.

Jo0j6849d ago

...someone gets it. bubble for you. For a second there I was getting worried.
As of right now there are no 'next gen' games, It's too early in this gen to be saying that nonsense again, developers won't be working on 'next gen' games for at least another 5 years, the current gen is here and now, if someone says 'next gen' again, they better be talking about a game that's being developed for whatever comes after the Wii, 360, and PS3 or you need to STFU.
Otherwise they are just saying how this gen doesn't live up to their absolutely unrealistic views on why the graphics(what gameplay? they know nothing of it) aren't CG and why(in a racing game) they can't see the sweat from a zit on a fly's ass 1000 yrds away, through volumetric fog rendered in 1080p at 120fps with HDR. ''nope it's not teh 'nex gen' to me durr.''
people. get a grip, and move on.

Armyless6850d ago (Edited 6850d ago )

People look forward to next-gen consoles offering these possibilities because the hardware expands the creativity of the developer to break boundaries on what's been "done before".

HOWEVER

Too often, the bottom line ($) means it's safer to create sequels with better graphics than INVENT a new game that wasn't possible before. Katamari Damacy, Crush, and Portal are great examples of "next-gen" concepts that succeed independant of "next-gen" hardware.

LeShin6850d ago

Great article and a great response post. I totally agree with you. Developers probably want to make really creative games but are stifled by the worry that it might not sell. Okami is a perfect example. That game is brilliant, but did not sell as well as they would have liked. I really hope that doesn't stop them making great games like that.

That's Microsoft's gaming division for you...kill off developers making new ip while trying to capitalize off some long lost glory that has no hope of ever being what it once was thanks to recent decision making favoring unrealistic profit goals and greed. What a joke.

Reaper22_191d ago

So much bitterness. Why be upset over something like this. Just don't buy it and stick with what you prefer.

Tacoboto190d ago

Complaining about Microsoft is the only thing people comment here for anymore.

This website is practically dead without it

Mmmkay190d ago

I remember when you guys constantly complained about Sony remaking and remastering games. Guess it is cool now. As usual.

thesoftware730190d ago

Give it rest medman..., take a deep breath and try to not sound so invested in something no one is forcing you to read, buy, or play.

"Console war"is over, Sony won, be happy.

medman185d ago (Edited 185d ago )

@thesoftware730
I'm invested in people losing their jobs and their livelihoods while Microsoft execs tout record profits for their gaming division. Not sure why you wouldn't be invested. Could be you one day. Good luck.

Travesty191d ago

So what’s their solution to having multiplayer? Wait until Halo 7?
That was one of the most memorable parts of Halo..

monkey602191d ago

I'm not sure spending the heavy investment in time to recreate the multiplayer here is the answer either though.
Remaking the campaigns is a great idea to bring the new players up to speed. But if the multiplayer is included in each it'll just fracture the player base of each release.
I think it might be better to turn these campaigns out quicker and have 1 multiplayer game to keep everyone in one place

Travesty191d ago

Maybe having an Halo Online and just release the Combat Evolve maps. And when Halo 2 releases have those maps release. I don’t know but I would like to play a newer version of Halo multiplayer. I know times have changed, and Fortnite is all younger kids really play. But back then it was Halo and you connecting 6 Xbox’s together lol.

jjb1981190d ago

I agree. I think that'll segment the playerbase and once 7 comes out, players might realize it sucks and go back to the older games. Especially if 7 is live-servixe, they'll be shooting themselves in the foot on the one good leg they have to stand on.

crazyCoconuts190d ago

Kinda surprised they didn't just port MCC.
Maybe more $ to by made with separate remasters

Inverno190d ago

Wouldn't have that problem if it were MCC being released. Gotta wait for 7 to be disappointed with MP all over again cause if they half baked Infinite what makes people think they won't half bake the next game? MP works in past HALO games not cause of nostalgia but because it's MP that isn't concerned with the endless service approach.

JEECE190d ago

There is so much cognitive dissonance over Infinite. People say they didn't like it because it was a live service. Yet if you look at what the criticisms of it were at the time it came out and when the playerbase started falling off, the primary issue people had was a lack of updates. In other words, it wasn't enough of a live service.

Which is really an encapsulation of the problem with multiplayer today. So many people think that they want to go back to the "good old days" of mid-2000s multiplayer (The first few Halos, Socom, the first few Battlefields, CS 1.6, etc), but in reality if a multiplayer game like that came out today, people would whine about the lack of content within a month of launch and go back to a live service with a grindy progression system.

isarai190d ago

Why not just port the MCC? 🤔 That was the easiest layup ever and you completely missed it

franwex190d ago

30% profit margins! People will pay $70+ for remakes!

Software_Lover190d ago

I thought the same thing, then I realized that they wouldn't include the remakes in that edition. We may get a different version of Halo MCC in the future with all of the remakes included. I just want them to include Halo 5 at some point for PC.

TheColbertinator190d ago

Can they remake Reach too with the multiplayer?

Knightofelemia190d ago

I wonder if Microsoft will port Reach over to Playstation I quite enjoyed that game. I played Halo 3 and it was not bad I have Halo 2 on the OG Xbox I just need some cables to hook up to my tv to play it.

Why Guerrilla Games Shouldn't Abandon the Killzone Series

Hugely disappointingly, it seems that Guerrilla Games, developers of the Killzone and Horizon series, may be done with Killzone for good.

1 was fine, overhyped as a " halo" killer
2 was a graphical beast at the time, and felt heavy
3 was good a refinement of 2 but not much else. weird audio issues environment were to quiet
shadow fall was pretty but bland

OtterX564d ago (Edited 564d ago )

Shadowfall had great Multiplayer though. Too bad the campaign was meh at best. It did have the occasional great moment sprinkled in.

TheNamelessOne564d ago (Edited 564d ago )

I played through 2/3 multiple times. I played through the original once, but it felt pretty lukewarm for me. I couldn't be bothered to beat Shadow Fall. I got a couple hours in and just went "I'm done". Never touched it again. It was awesome on the tech side, being a launch title, but it didn't even match up to the first game when it came to actually having fun playing it.

Rude-ro564d ago

3 in 3d was an amazing experience to be had.
Although not many experienced it as intended for good reasons.

just_looken564d ago

You forgot the ai advancements on the playstation 2 killzone one you could have a full team of bots doing everything even playing the objective that was a big thing.

In killzone 2 they always flanked you and when available used the high ground.

Playing killzone 2 no hud 5.1 audio was/is awesome

MDTunkown564d ago

They should finish Horizon story first

darthv72564d ago

I dont mind if someone else takes up the mantle for the KZ franchise. We are several years removed from the first game. It certainly could use a remake to gauge interest in the rest of the series. I know it has its fans... Im thinking of how a proper reboot can rekindle that old dormant flame and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.

just_looken564d ago

You forgot killzone mercenaries on the ps vita but it was the worst selling sony game for awhile there.

Yui_Suzumiya564d ago

Yeah, a remake would be pretty awesome

anast564d ago

They should let it go or sell it. No use spending millions on this project.

LucasRuinedChildhood564d ago

Would like a new IP before Horizon 3. Just because games take so long to make these days.
