Bobby Kotick says that Black Ops will be the biggest launch ever in Activision's history, and Modern Warfare 2 had a $200 million launch. Does the publisher -really- need to spend that much money to make sure Black Ops sells well? Is -this- what we mean about the current business model being unsustainable?

Chance Glasco, one of the co-founders of Infinity Ward and creators of the Call of Duty franchise, has claimed that Activision once pressured the studio to include an invasion of Israel by Iran.

Former CEO describes lawsuit filed by Swedish pension fund as a "collateral attack" on Activision Blizzard.
Kotick Made $155 million from MS in the buyout, the little b*tch needs to stop whining. Thanks to this Microslop deal and massive industry consolidation thousands upon thousands of devs and other workers lost their livelihoods. This greedy piggie pervert needs shut up and f-off.

Windows Central: "The money may keep rolling in, but Microsoft is the custodian of one of the biggest selling video game series in history. If something doesn't change, I fear we'll reach a breaking point and irreparable damage will have been done."
In my view, they should probably merge MP with Warzone and essentially make it free to play like Halo Infinite. The campaign/zombies mode can be $30 yearly DLC. I know this would be insanity as most COD players essentially pay the full price of the game simply for the MP. However-with a shrinking player base they may have to consider it. Making it free would bring in a ton of players.
To late MW3 should have been a lesson but here we are two years later with a steaming pile a shite called blops7
Nothing lasts forever, eventually something will come along to make people forget about COD
Call of Duty was riding the revenue horse and charts for ~20 years. Whether undeserved or deserved.
But I endorse everyone to remind you that Microsoft could have decided differently when they took it over.
The money was certainly there, and they could have taken their time revamping the franchise:
Current-gen tech, manageable microtransactions, not imitating Fortnite and returning to core values of the franchise's origin.
They didn't.
Let's see next year. Hopefully without the then 13 years old PS4 and One hardware.
Geez...Kotick running his mouth again.......
I hate Activision. Both because of this guy and their games. Not once and I as god as my witness, I have NEVER bought a Activision in my entire life. Guess their games do not interest me. No offense to all you Activision fans out there.
video game companies have the worlds worst business models. spending $200 million dollars (1/5 of a Billion dollars!) on advertising yet crying and bitching that "oh woe is us, we can't turn a profit. we need subscription plans. oh gamestop is stealing money from us" the rest of the year, is the absolute epitome of retarded. do you know how many new friggin games $200 million dollars could fund??? $200 million to advertise a game that everyone and their mother knows is coming, yet they couldn't find $20 to advertise singularity. amazing.
i want these moronic publishers to effin collapse already, we need another crash & reboot so badly that it's maddening.
Because it's another CoD game. It is their bigger game, if not their biggest game, compared to the Guitar Hero franchise.
I will be renting Black Ops for it's single player campaign only. I'm a fan of the DJ Hero games, but I refuse to buy that game new. I will wait for a used copy of DJ Hero 2 and that's saying a lot because I have never bought a used game, ever.
Activion needs to completely rethink how they treat their customers (charging 15 dollars for a map back, with two old CoD:4 maps). I'm sure if Kotick went away and was replaced with someone who actually cared about their customes, they would not be as hated as they are now.
I will only be getting Black Ops if it has zombies, otherwise I will spend my money on GT5.
