There is a contract between developer and consumer sealed with the purchase of a game, that said purchase will lead to having fun and enjoyment. What, then, was David Cage thinking when he designed some of the endings for Heavy Rain?

Ben from Netto's Game Room takes a look at 7 video games where dying doesn't mean the end, as the story and world simply continue on without you.

We present a list of horror games with depressing endings, each known for its unique experience and storytelling.

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.
I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.
I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.
No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.
Spoiler Alert!
this man is plain retarded (author)
Wow this guy is such a whiner.
"That eight hours' worth of gaming could come down to a SINGLE improper set of button presses to determine the ultimate, most important outcome of Heavy Rain was such a lapse of game design that I still am struggling with it"
Ummm thats the whole point of the game. Any missed button press could change the outcome throughout the entire story. Not just the ending. It happened in my game where someone died with one missed press (sledgehammer to the face lmao), but thats the beauty of it.
You try so hard to keep the story going the way you want it to but it doesn't always work out that way. Just because it didn't go the way 'you' had planned doesn't make it David Cage's fault. Its your own fault. But thats the point. It came down to your actions and you failed.
Sure there was a plot hole but that doesn't mean it was a bad thing. Its obvious you felt a true emotional response at the end and thats what the game is all about.
^Do you realize who owns BITMOB?..how can you call them xbots? Heavy Rain is the most worthless movie in gaming history,he really did rob about 1 million people with that.
Coolbeans get off my bubbles, I tell it like it is, you're
just a fanboy ready to attack Bitmob.
The article says it all here!
"Video games should be about fun, first and foremost. There's nothing fun about the tragedy of a father losing his son, or vice versa"
Heavy Rain is not fun, is not even a damn game but the worst movie in gaming history, Bitmob explained it all.
