Mouse with track pad would be my guess.

The location and size of the MS logo at the bottom indicates it's a small devise, and the oddly cut photo looks to be trying to hide the buttons.

Hints point to a touch-mechanic device too blatantly so....I'll say zTouch.

So, all you people saying that this will be some copy of an Apple device are probably right. I call it as a multitouch-capable wireless mouse, although I *wish* it would do something a little more exciting, like contain a depth-sensing camera that did gestural recognition (a la Kinect, but for your PC desktop/laptop). Now that would be almost cool.

Here's my speculation, feel free to follow along.

It is an infrared keyboard. The cut off section is where the keyboard is projected. It will most likely track finger movements as well to make a virtual touchpad.

It is intended to be used with current and upcoming tablet PCs, and cellular devices in the high end range; internet browsing, email, editing. It stands upright, but you see it without it's stand in this image, because it would hint too much at the end product if it were siting just beneath the Microsoft label.

The stand will (most likely) have a detachable charging cable (USB powered) and a means of wirelessly connecting the projector to portable devices.

The device will be flexible, allowing the projection to be manipulated into many useful utilities, such as a drawing board or calculator (as well as display information in an interactive fashion, such as a calender).

...also, it will flash lights in unnoticeable patterns and speeds to subliminally command you to eat less bananas, and instead, eat more strips of tree bark.

It's a windows Phone, or the wPhone. :p

Looks like a phone, but who knows... There's something in the bottom left that looks like a micro USB slot like the one on the new BB Bold, but it's too far in the back and not on the side.

Its a Kinect controler. Its a big pad that you wave around so the Kinect can detect your spastic and socially embarrassing movements as you navigate a rubber raft down the rapids.

...Microsoft has a bad habit of coincidentally creating things Sony has done like a week or two before. Examples such as Eyepet = Kinectimals, PS Eye/Eyetoy = Kinect, Motion Control = Hands-free Motion Control, and PS Slim - Xbox Slim. Not saying it's copying per se, but..... you gotta admit, it gets a little suspicious after a few years.........
