Fable III PC Delayed

Microsoft has confirmed to IGN the PC version of Fable III will not be coming out on October 26, the same date currently set for the Xbox 360 version.

MexicanAppleThief5747d ago

What with Fable 3 coming to the PC, maybe Alan Wake PC isn't so far ahead.

nveenio5747d ago

I would be happy if all 360 exclusives would go to PC. I don't own a 360 because none of them warrant the purchase (and I'm not big into online), but I would definitely give them a shot on PC if they were there. (Unless, of course, they sell at $59.99 like MW2 and StarCraft 2. I boycott that crap.)

Trebius5747d ago

It's for that reason that they're delaying or cancelling PC versions of exclusive 360 games. They want those ppl that are anticipating it to have no choice but to get it on the 360 since the 360's known to never reach sales expectations with their games unless theyre shooters.

Smart move though for sure.

Chris_TC5747d ago

Two problems with that strategy:
1) I don't have an Xbox
2) If I did have an Xbox I'd still wait for the PC version

nveenio5747d ago

I don't have a 360....thought I mentioned that.

corneliuscrust5747d ago

that MS would stick to their guns and keep 360 exclusives on 360. This polygamy between the two platforms while still crying "IT'S EXCLUSIVE, TRUST ME!" is why people with PCs will never make the jump to 360. It's not worth it; the games almost always come out on PC.

nveenio5746d ago

I was going to hit "disagree", but then you said that the sharing of "exclusives" is what keeps PC gamers from making the jump. I agree with that because it's true for me. So now I can't click either button.

they want to maximize the sales of the 360 version. maybe I'm saying this like it's a negative thing but it's business strategy, I can understand.

GrilledCheeseBook5747d ago

hope Fable 3 is fairly modifiable but not getting my hopes up
maybe Two Worlds 2 or Gothic 4 will be

ProjectVulcan5747d ago (Edited 5747d ago )

I dont really mind a little delay to play the Pc version. i certainly wont be all over the console version just so i can play it a few months before the platform i want to play it on, with all the enhancements Pc will provide as well as a lower RRP. Its usually worth it.

Its not like there isnt a whole bunch of games to be playing october/november time instead, i doubt i will miss it. Pick it up whenever it comes out and the releases have quietened down a bit, i dont mind games being spread out a bit more. Too much to play at once otherwise!

They can fix all the bugs before the PC release if they are smart. Plagued fable 2.

SaberEdge5747d ago

Hey, vulcanproject, I have been interested in getting into PC gaming and I have a few questions. How much do you think I will have to spend to get reliably better performance than on the consoles? I have heard of some games like Chronicles of Riddick AODA and Assassin's Creed require a pretty powerful rig in order to get better performance than the consoles.

The other thing that bothers me is the fact that when I watch videos on youtube of PC versions of games being played the camera panning always seems jerkier than what I am used to on consoles. Now, I know that the actual FPS is usually much higher on the PC, but I am really talking about the smoothness of the camera panning. Is it down to the keyboard and mouse controls that PC games often use? Is that what gives the games a jerkier appearance?

The last thing I wanted to know is how many games allow you to use a standard controller?

ProjectVulcan5747d ago (Edited 5747d ago )

http://www.tomshardware.com...

This is a guide for a machine you can build yourself, minus operating system, screen and peripherals etc. Expect to find a bit more money if you want a pre built machine with similar performance.

You really dont need much of a machine these days to consistantly beat out console performance comfortably. Just see how call of duty modern warfare 2 runs 70 frames a second with over THREE TIMES (1920 x 1080) as much resolution than the consoles, higher settings and more filtering to boot....

A lot of titles support the 360 pad these days, but not all. Games that do include stuff like crysis, fallout 3, just cause 2 etc. As for the 'jerkiness' that you might see, it could be a number of things. Mouse smoothing might not be enabled, and a lot of people run underpowered systems when recording, also running a recording programme on the Pc itself instead of a capture card massively reduces performance, so its probably capture problems. You will see that a Pc game at a consistant 60 frames a second will look and feel so incredibly smooth compared to a 30 frames version on a console.

Now is a great time to buy a gaming PC. Midway through the console lifespan, you will see a good difference between the versions as Pc is now leaps ahead. It will also be several years until the new consoles appear and surpass a gaming PC purchased now.

SaberEdge5747d ago

Thanks a lot, vulcanproject. I really think I am going to go ahead with building a PC for gaming. I am pretty technically minded and good with computers so I think I should have no problem building my own.

I don't need a monitor because I can just connect it to my HDTV. However, my tv is only 720p and I'm not able to upgrade to the 1080p set I want just yet. If I am only running the PC games at 720p that will give me more performance overhead to increase things like anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering, right?

All I am really looking for is to be able to run multi-platform games with zero screen tearing, decent anti-aliasing and strong, stable frame rates. These are the negatives that really bother me about most multi-platform games I play on the PS3 or 360.

ProjectVulcan5747d ago (Edited 5747d ago )

1280 x 720 by Pc standards, is a very low resolution. Your HDTV might be something like 1368 x 768 native resolution, in which case all modern PC games usually support this natively as well. Even at such a resolution a radeon 5770 like shown in that hardware guide is total overkill for most titles and you would be able to enable maximum settings and a bunch load of filtering on pretty much anything, even crysis. Multiformat titles such as Assassins creed 2, Riddick, Mass effect 2 and no doubt fable 3 etc would be blown away by such a machine at that resolution.

Crysis is on that test and manages 33 frames a second at maximal details 1280 x 1024, no AA. Crysis looks good without AA, its not distracting like some other games because the geometry detail on models/objects is already....HUGE. Its smooth too at less than 60 frames because the object based motion blur is very advanced, better than screen based blur often used on console. 1280 x 1024 is also 30 percent more resolution than 1280 x 720, so you could expect more performnace from an identical configuration. TBH crysis on maximum even @ just 720P is still the best looking game that exists, its mind blowing.

If you look for hardware seperately now and maybe join a proper PC forum then you can glean more advice from members there and help regards a scratch build system.

SaberEdge5747d ago

Thanks again, vulcanproject, for sharing your knowledge on the subject. I have some things to figure out, but it seems very enticing.

I would imagine a month.. Alan Wake was set to release a month after, however due to poor sales they canceled it..

Development issues or commercial decision? I'd go with the latter.

ZombieAutopsy5747d ago (Edited 5747d ago )

Yea for sure, they don't want sales to be taken away from the xbox version. I'm sure it has something to do with pirating to though.

@below

I did not know that, i shall give you a bubble for being helpful.

Charmers5747d ago

It has nothing to do with piracy, Microsoft are on record as stating they hold games OFF the PC to boost sales on the Xbox 360. They know that in places such as Europe the PC is dominant and if they allow European users to choose between the PC version and the Xbox version people will choose the PC version.

Don't believe me ? Then here is the exact quote :-

Peter Zetterberg: On a global scale the Windows Vista business is as important as our Xbox 360 business. But in Germany for example, we want more gamers to buy our Xbox 360. If we launch a game that is on 360 and PC simultaneously, we basically shoot ourselves in the foot by allowing the German market to choose to play the PC version because they are more likely to buy that than spend their money on the Xbox 360. On a global scale the PC is very relevant to us. And I would say that 90 per cent of the games that are pitched to us are on console. We're strongly perceived as a console publisher because we're the first-party publisher even though the Windows operating system is equally important to us. If we launched a Halo game on PC and 360 in Germany simultaneously, 80 per cent of sales would be on the PC. So we need to pick and choose our formats.

http://www.ggmania.com/?sms...

So there you go, it has nothing to do with piracy and everything to do with combating competition from the PC.

solar5747d ago

funny thing is Charmers, PC will and still rule Europe. they arent as fat and lazy as us americans. they want more from their gaming expirence. i dont see Europe, or Asia accepting consoles like america anytime soon.

badz1495747d ago

but 360 games are almost always pirated earlier than their pc counterparts. torrents proved this to be true most of the time

ProjectVulcan5747d ago (Edited 5747d ago )

Yeah has to be commercial most likely, i recall microsoft talking about delaying their Pc titles too. Besides it gives them time to refine and squash all the bugs that are almost inevitably going to be in the console version....

Fable 2 was a bugfest :-( even molyneux admitted that

solar5747d ago

yeah teh game is first developed to work on PC, ported to 360, yet the PC version is delayed. oooooooooooooooooooooooook.

Fable II - A Fantasy Series at Peak Performance

Fable II launched back in 2008 and remains the best the series has offered. Ahead of the series comeback, it's time to look at the classic.

Crows901040d ago

They gotta bring back those gargoyles!

Dudeson1040d ago

I'd love to play it again, this time on pc though. Forever waiting on that pc port.

GaboonViper1040d ago

Loved this game, oh and i always saved my dog at the end, hope the new Fable has a animal companion.

got_dam1040d ago

Fable 2 was the best inthe series. Peter waaaaaaay over promised with fable 1 and it was good but disappointing. He didn't go crazy eith hype for the second game and it was surprisingly awesome. Then he ran his mouth promoting 3 and it was the worst of the 3.

cthulhucultist1040d ago

Funny story: Fable 3 had a funny way of keeping the promises you made in the first half of the game and having enough money to defeat the darkness.

You only had to collect enough money to buy 2 stores in a busy market district. You then raise the prices to maximum and you turn xbox 360 internal clock 99 or more years ahead.

The next time you load the game, all the rents from the 99 years are collected immediately.

But yes I agree that 3 was the weakest of the three.

Demetrius1039d ago

I only got to play it once 😩 I'm so tempted to buy a Xbox 360 slim but planning on getting the series x soon since I got a PS5 in February Im ready to get saints row 1&2 back, GTA 4, fable 2, but I also want to play infamous 1&2 again Sony screwed us over with the stream only for saints row 2 and other gems smh
