Twisted Metal single-player refresh arouses hasty objections

Can't wait for this game.

silkrevolver5788d ago

... the single player mode was the old-fashioned, 10ish hours, one main character, one main story arc campaign. I know that’s never been in Twisted Metal, but I think the 3 character approach is close enough for my taste. Sweet Tooth is obviously who I’d tackle the story with first.

DarkSpawnClone5788d ago

yes i know what you mean it would be cool for the next game if they just made the game about sweet tooth in the single player might have a better story that way(not saying it wont be good I'm getting this day 1 i love Twisted metal .. it was my first ever PlayStation game i still have TM1),but i do like how you can go through the game with different characters going to be awesome..is it out yet ?.

"Rather than host a field of nutty, dejected contestants, Twisted Metal single-player will focus on hardened series veterans Sweet Tooth, Dollface and Mr. Grimm, each with a unique campaign and three different endings. So, you won’t have bust through the same levels and bosses with 15 or so contestants. "
Odds are this is where DLC will come in.

I enjoyed Twisted Metal Black a lot mainly because of the story mode campaign with all the characters. Then I loved it's whole Mature and dark theme it had going. I remember getting TM: Black online for free when Sony sent those discs out but I never really cared about the online portion of the game. Even Twisted Metal Head-On on the PSP I bought yet never cared about playing online.

So I'm not sure if this new Twisted Metal will be for me. First with the goal to be T rated, only 3 chracters, and now seeing this is a very multiplayer focused game. Maybe might pick this up down the line when they decide to release more characters or something.

Just so unsure on this title. Nothing about it so far has excited me besides the fact that after 10 years, it's back on a console.

We all saw what happened to the last Mortal Kombat game when it went for the "T" rating. It did not feel like the originals. I am now officially worried about the new Twisted Metal. I want the dark game and story as it was in Twisted Metal Black!

Shmotz5788d ago

Black is the only game in the whole franchise to be rated M. The rest were T.

CernaML5788d ago

Sweet Jesus... Was Twisted Metal Black the first and only Twisted Metal game you played or what?

Look what happened when Twisted Metal went for an M rating. It was the least selling game. It had the best stories but even David felt that gameplay was lacking.

I still find Twisted Metal 2, a Teen rated game, the best of the whole series.

Blaze9295787d ago

Black was also the best Twisted Metal to date critically...

@CernaML - sure it sold the worst, but it was the best TM. Not sure why'd you go against a good game to make more money. Beats me but whatever. That's like saying, screw the fans - we want more people playing the game so let's make it kid friendly.

Wow cyberpunk is a great pick up. If you haven’t played it you should definitely give it a try

Christopher332d ago

Banishers was dragged down by the need to go back to old areas multiple times.

GhostScholar332d ago

Also if you bought it at launch and couldn’t deal with all the bugs it’s a totally different game now

stupidusername332d ago

Played it on release and thought it was a mess. But I'm currently playing it again now on both PS5 and Switch 2 with cross save progression, and it's really different to how I remember it. Really enjoying it now, and it's really polished and immersive.

Despite owning the 2077 One X console and the steelbook edition of the game... i still have never played it. I may actually give 2077 a try (via the portal) as there has been so much talk about it again, thanks to SW2 and now this comparison vid from DF. https://youtu.be/SvGQik3m6a...

dveio333d ago (Edited 333d ago )

I think it's an okay decision or happening.

iirc, wasn't there even a new and probably last update coming soon announced recently?

I've never played 2077, neither. (I am still a bit mad about their ... well, anyway.)

But I think it can't get better to play that game, or any game for that matter, in a 100% complete, fully updated build.

DivineHand125333d ago

Cyberpunk and Risk of rain 2 are the best of the bunch. Not a bad month if you are one of the few that haven't played those games.

yeastori332d ago

Cyberpunk is probably one of the best games I've ever played, even when it came out with all the bugs and glitches and broken gameplay on consoles, I still loved it at its core because the world was exactly what I wanted in a dystopian vision of the real future and the story was actually well done and compelling. With the fixes and then Phantom Liberty I just knew that this game could've been GOTY winner if it hadn't been released too early and released on PS5. XBX and two years later.

shinXseijuro332d ago

Might give cyberpunk a chance now that the game redeemed itself . Is it only the basic game or with the newer content ?

xHeavYx332d ago

According to the article, it's just the base game, but the DLC will be 30% off

Dagexon614d ago

Lego 2K Drive features an exciting mode called Brick Brawl, inspired by Twisted Metal. Players can create, share, and upload various cars, including ones like Sweet Tooth. The game boasts thousands of custom cars, ranging from the Batmobile to the Sweet Tooth ice cream truck.

InUrFoxHole614d ago

Never understood the like for the series. Not my bag but I know a lot of gamers are clamoring for a new game and liked the TV. Series

TiredGamer614d ago (Edited 614d ago )

TM1 and 2 are time period classics. They were a bit rough, ugly, and grungy, but they felt right during the time period they were released and they scratched that early console “death match” itch before FPS games would completely swallow that market.

Many great memories with friends playing couch co-op and 1v1. Short, and quick-and-dirty gameplay that we returned to over and over. I’d buy a remake or proper remastering of the first two games day one.

InUrFoxHole614d ago

Lol, nice! I remember having the tiger handheld or watch..

FinalFantasyFanatic614d ago

I played those so much as I kid, I bought the Twisted Metal games that were on PSN as Playstation Classics, wow, they feel clunky by today's standards, they could really use the remake/remaster treatment.

UltimateOwnage614d ago

Twisted Metal: Black is when the series really hit for me. I still love that game so much. It was kind of downhill for the series after that IMO. I'd love to see the series go back to its roots, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for David Jaffe coming back from where he is these days to oversee development of a competent sequel.

Snookies12614d ago

Black was the pinnacle in my opinion. I adored TM1 and TM2, for sure. But Black brought it to a whole new level of awesome.
