Kinect's failings, or why we need 1:1 motion

PSUNI: Motion controls will be making their way to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year. Actually it’s just a few months away until we’ll have either PlayStation Move or Kinect in our living rooms. Both have very different tactics for motion gaming – Move uses both a camera and controllers, whereas Kinect is controller free. Microsoft’s technology promises to be a big step up from the PS2’s EyeToy, but the following videos might convince you otherwise.

And here comes the motion flame wars...

ZombieAutopsy5766d ago

Everyone needs to get their flame suits on....

Is it fear or love. I think fear wins, but I could be wrong. If Kinect were the piece of junk you keep saying it is, you would be ignoring all these post by now, like you do the other motion controllers. But there is something about Kinect that just draws attention from the PS3 crowd like bees on honey or flies on do-do. What ever it is, you can't get enough of it.

Because it is so much fun to watch a company that got away with pushing subpar products really step into it big time - and watch the whole thing unfold. The wild promises, the xbox fanboys hyping the living daylights out of it shouting down anyone pointing out the obvious - and now the whole thing unfolding - the smoke and mirrors not working anymore as it is showtime - and the hype does not meet reality. The fun of watching people like you trying to get the peanut gallery to stop laughing at the farce playing out. There is no fear - and you know it - it is the fun of watching people like yourself trying to defend the whole thing. It is kind of addictive.

Why is a Playstation site talking about Kinect? Isn't Move enough for them?

Must want to talk about something people are actually interested in then.....

ZombieAutopsy5766d ago

Isn't most of the interest in the lag?? I'm being serious too not trying to troll but if you look at just about every kinect article they make reference to it, even the pro kinect articles.

@Zir0

It'll be interesting to see how this device will end up, knowing the loads of problems it has...

O-T

"why we need 1:1 motion"

Cos IF we don't get 1:1 tracking that can work great with every game, it'll be the same as the wii, with loads of shovelware crap and it'll get labeled as gimmicky for ever, we need a device that deliver what it promised and make motion-control a new addition for gaming and not a bad way to waggle your arms to emulate controls...

PlayStation®Move FTW!!!

Zir0,

Articles are posted where they are likely to get hits. People are excited about the Move, and they like comparisons with other devices for that reason.

Move actually looks like it will be good tech. But you have to buy a PlayStation...

D4RkNIKON5765d ago

If that's truly how you feel, then you have the wrong console

DJMarty5765d ago

Kinect has tech that clearly don't work. When it lags makes you look retarded. But guess what I would have to buy a 360 to use this crap any how. No Thx

ChozenWoan5765d ago

Correction...
you have to buy 1 PlayStation this gen.

Some gamers have become used to going through 2 consoles/year this gen.

wakash5765d ago

shit is gonna pop off between the motion controls wars no doubt

CrzyFooL5765d ago

Not interested in MOVE or Kinect!! Fanbois can argue each all they want, I'll stick to controllers, thank you.

PlayStation Move Controller Used to Perform Surgery on a Pig That Was 5,780 Miles Away

A group of surgeons made headlines after they managed to perform an endoscopic procedure on a pig located in Hong Kong by using PlayStation controllers. It involved the use of a PS5 DualSense controller as well as a PlayStation Move controller.

jznrpg578d ago

There is at least a few good jokes that could come from that title

Cacabunga577d ago

Yet another powerful device Sony gave up supporting. KZ3 move was one of the best motion controller implementation ever

just_looken577d ago

Right the ps move was awesome i have the gun thing from killzone still.

Relientk77578d ago

That's really cool. It's crazy something like that is possible with gaming controllers 1000's of miles away.

Lexreborn2577d ago

Guess that submarine should’ve used move controllers instead of logitech
