Still the same news. (NOTE: I own all three systems) Nintendo has been outselling both the 360 and PS3, but most people I talk to from the U.S. Europe and in Japan are bying the Wii and a PS3 or Wii and a 360, but it still is currently drawing sales fro the non-gamer so to speak and the biggest appeals are quick and inexpinsive fun. Eventually, I think this will come to and end and sells will slow for the Wii, but not before they sale huge numbers. The Wii will really need to be innovative once that appeal wears off (it could be a couple of years). They need to make some new.... A lot of people do not look at the Wii as next-gen, but it is. Nex-gen is not only about graphics, it is also just as mouch about innovation and who says that the Wii-mote is not innovative. The Xbox 360 and PS3 Will go round for round throug the gen and I believe that it may take till the end to see a true winner, if you want to call it that. Do you call Sony a winner if they take 51% of the market when they previously owned a larger percentage with the PS2 or do you would you call the 360 a success if they keep they current lead but the PS2 is still a dominating system. It's very subjective. The 360 needs to build consumer cofindence as far as reliability, which they have taken measures to do so (Longer Warrant and new components). The PS3 needs to insure consumers that (although reduce by $100) that the game library will expand with some AAA+ titles, which they have taken measures a well with their showing at E-3. To those: Do not expect Nintendo to fall on their face with the "Nintendo house hold name and the new innovation. Do not expect the PS3 to fail with its large PS2 fanbase and Sony Name. Do not expect Microsoft to fail with deep pockets and a 1 year lead. These are not the only reasons theyse ssytems will not fail. DEVS GOING MULTI PLATFORM WILL KEEP THIS CONSOLE WAR EVEN...

It may be a console war, but I would call it a Consumer's Heaven. As long as these three consoles duke it out we will continue to see less expensive systems hopefully games, quality games, etc.

These #s are wrong. We all know Wii is about to pass 360 in under 2 months. You have to be kidding me if you actually believe 360 has sold 12 million and Wii only has sold 9 million.

what gets me is how people constantly focus on console sales and not dollars/potential dollars. for example you have to sell 2 wiis to equal the price of one ps3. and the people buying the wii might buy 2-3 games a year where the ps3 (or 360) owner is going to buy 6-10. now if you are a developer (who are in it for the money no matter what you might think) am i going to make a game for the wii (lets say 9million consoles and those people might buy on average 3 games a year) or the ps3 (lets say 6million at 8 games a year). statisically speaking which platform gives you the best chance to sell your game, the pool of 48million games bought (ps3) or the 27million (wii). if i was a share holder in a dev studio they better damn well be making a next gen high def game. now did the wii sell more consoles, yup. but who got more hard cash.

I'd argue the Wii is certainly next gen. Would I argue it compares graphically? Not at all. I would argue that the system provides a substantially different way to game than previous generation games which would in fact make it "next gen".

If graphics are the sole determining factor in what constitutes a leap of console generations, then you'd be right based on your own logic, but if there is more to a generation leap (which I believe there is) then you can't possibly dismiss the Wii as last gen.

it's 10.5 million for Xbox, 9.3 million for the Wii, and around 5 million for PS3. I still remember when the PS3 had only sold 1.3 million versus Microsoft's 8.5 million. It won't be long before Microsoft is in second, or even third place. Whether or not Sony can catch up to Nintendo is dependent on their 2008 lineup. They're technically not competing against each other, but it'll be interesting to watch nonetheless.

11.6 million 360's sold around June 4 million PS3's and 9 million Wii's. Don't let the Sony fanboys fool you.

No matter the numbers the 360 will widen its gap by 3 or 4 million consoles this holliday season.

And it will only get hotter,

If Ps3 stays the course that its on now, without any major snafu's
the race will certainly get good.

Sony Needs to keep its price point and continue to find ways to drop the price. They also need to keep dropping great exclusives like the ones they have slated in the pipeline.

Microsoft needs to stay its course, and somehow find a way to garner new excitement for its console, through generating New Ip's and finding a way to communicate to the younger adopters

Nintendo is doing great with their new direction, to a point that is almost sickening, but Koodos to them, they need to find a way to continue to support this new direction but find a way to make sure that their loyal adopters know they aren't being left behind.

There was gaming long before Microsoft and Sony joined the frey. Almost every game Nintendo has ever laid their hands on has been a AAA title. One of my favorite games of all time is Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. How quickly we forget our roots.

In regards to the article I think all consoles will see a great Holiday this year. And I think this Christmas will play a big factor in how the demographics of the install base for all consoles will play out.

I would just like to say that I am a proud owner of a PS3 BUT I really want to buy a XBOX360. The money is not an issue with me, the issue with me is that I would like to buy one with the 65nm heatsink and so on and so fourth.
I live in Canada where and when can I go and buy a new version of XBOX360 because I am dieing to play Bioshock and other games like Halo3 and I can't forget Mass Effect.
