but too riddled with technical flaws to deserve the near-perfect score it has on MetaCritic. There's a superabundance of glitches and the game has frozen on me 4 times by my count. The multiplayer is utter bobbins too.

no, the story was so dumb. everything was alright till u get to mexico then it just went into meh. you in mex fighting in the revolution for who knows what reason. then there was also the rushed ending which coulda been so much better if they had putsome music or something. but no , it didnt do anything for me.

I don't see anything special about it. It feels like the framerate is set at 20 and the horses control and feel horrible.

Just Cause 2 is the better open-world game IMO. No boring story, just pure fun all the way through.

Red Dead is a good game, but it's way too story-focused and it takes itself a little too seriously. The Mexico section just kept dragging on.

In the end it just felt like a chore to finish.

I personally liked Red Dead 2 (got the Platinum trophy) it was a breath of fresh air i actaully found it quite a relaxin game 2 play (i thought Fallout 3 was a relaxin game aswell)

Red Dead Redemption is a great game. Towards the end I will admit getting a tad bit bored with it but the very end makes it all well worth it. The end is one of the best endings to a game I have ever seen.

It's one of those games that when I pick it up I can't put it down. But once I do put it down I don't touch it for a couple of weeks. Still haven't finished it.

Far from it. I played it and it was not close to GOTY. I would rather have Halo 3 as GOTY than Red Dead(if they came out same year).

Some bullshit this is. First the whole world is on RDR dick, everybody loved it except some people who have their reasons for it. And now trying to sell some crap it wasn't a good game. What's gaming about? Having fun, enjoying yourself... RDR was a very nice experience, the first time any of us mounted that horse and started kicking up dust, memorable for sure. So don't nobody talk shit, or best stfu.

I've completed the game's main storyline and I sometimes do play it again to mess around or do some side missions, but I haven't touched it in a while.

However I definitely do think Red Dead Redemption is great game. It was well-presented game - the graphics were brilliant and realistic, there were some very interesting characters and features and the gameplay was real fun and enjoyable. The ending was really good too, just like an epic Western movie. I thought it was an excellent effort from Rockstar for a Western-based game. It was just nice and refreshing to see a very good game for a genre thats very rarely explored in video games.

RDR is better than GTA 4 in the sense that there was more varied fun gameplay, side missions and activities. RDR also contained much more random events and incidents which made it all the more interesting. RDR is the best Western-based game ever made as far as I'm concerned.

I can understand why this game may not be to everyone's tastes. But to start donwplaying it and say its not a good game is being kinda unfair. I think the only reason for a gamer not to like this game, is if they don't like anything belonging the Western genre in general.

EDIT: @ fredfenster - I agree with you there. Its like there is no pleasing some people out here. I just dont know what some people expect from a video game sometimes, maybe some kind of surreal, out-of-body experience? lol

Yes it was flawed, but the outdoor settings and mood where hard to beat. Maybe a flawed masterpiece? Overall it was worth sixty bucks IMO.

The story really isnt that great. Its like what GTA 4 did, almost the EXACT same.
You're in a new place leaving your old life behind in an attempt to find "people". Someone says they can help you find them, and you end up going on a 30 hour story of almost the same missions to do favours to others to find these men.

I enjoyed GTA 4 a lot, one of my favourite current-generation games. Buts thats because I could mess around in it. RDR, theres fuck all to do between towns and random killing isnt even fun since your bounty goes up to more than what you make in days and wont go away after dying

It is a great game but, if I had to make a choice between this a GTA I would have taken GTA.

I think the game's story might of been a little bit complicated for some people to keep track of, but that's thier own issue. It had some of the best writing, and one of the best stories I have seen in a game in along time.

People have opinions, and I accept that. However, all this seems like is a cry for attention and trying to sound different or better then others. If everyone likes something you should be the one to dislike it. That way you won't fit in, cause God only knows how awful it is to be a normal human with something in common with others.

I'll admit that Red Dead Redemption is a good game that I don't like.
I only bought it because I was following the bandwagon.

Here's the truth:

the world itself in RDR is beautiful and animations are totally solid, but the world feels lifeless. And both the story and multiplayer needed more work and polish because they were pretty weak.

In my opinion its a good game but not a great game....I felt really annoyed when it got perfect reviews when it isn't perfect. I didn't like the character because he was too much of a good guy (wouldn't pick up prostitutes) and I hated the son...The game play was good though and I do think the environment is fantastic but what let it down was poor graphics (I was expecting better from a game with perfect reviews) and a lot of glitches. Also the story wasn't that great and I didn't like the ending It clearly trying to hard to get an emotional response which made it less effective

All open world games have you doing the same things over and over again. You could replace RDR with GTA4, Saints Row, Infamous etc, and the article would still make sense. There are just some limitations to open world games which could make it seem repetitive. What makes RDR great is it's ability to keep you coming back for more and allowing the story to put a fresh spin on an old mission.

In my own words, RDR is what Grand Theft Auto 4 should have been. Rockstar has redeemed themselves as developers once more and I look forward to their upcoming projects.

I love this game, i can spend hours on hours just hunting bears and cougars. I've been playin this game for about a week and do like 3 missions a night and the rest just hunt.
