A steady decline as a series goes on is common, but some series don’t just gently decline, they dive-bomb in a most spectacular fashion. Here’s five of the worst…

In an interview, SEGA Sound Team lead composer Tomoya Ohtani revealed that Sonic’s global music success didn’t come from chasing trends overseas.
I think this is how Japanese devs need to think. Catering to the west is a terrible idea. I personally, seek out Japanese developed games because they bring a unique experience to gaming. They just stand out more that way.
The sonic music is iconic the mega drive games were some of the best on the system but i wouldn't say they were free of western influence especially since 3 was composed in part by Michael Jackson
But honestly most of the crush 40 soundtrack music lives in my head rent free

The popular Sega franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog, has been really successful in recent years, forging paths for the recent upcoming titles.
Without looking..........Sonic is #1 it must be. He once had a plot with real humans lol
I wonder why sonic is on there. It's not like Sega beats the series like a dead horse or anything.....
Great list!
Sonic had a plot? I vaguely remember Mobius, Dr. Robotnik (as I shall always call him) and various other plot elements from the comics, like Tails being the chosen one of a race of foxes or something.
just a comment,
I used to like to play Tony Hawk...but they should have stopped at 2. Theres only so many times you can grind a rail or do tricks before it gets old. I know they did downhill something or other, but come on...its skate boarding...start a new franchise...or bring back skate or die...that was a game I could see a million sequels too...it took your average skateboarding and turned it into something interesting that had character.
