Interview with Adam Sessler - SonyInsider

SonyInsider: "Adam and I talk about Sony’s strength’s, weaknesses, and 3D TV.

If you watch G4 then you know who Adam Sessler is. Whether it’s during X-Play, E3 Coverage, or Comic-Con, his witty, entertaining, and extremely articulate comments on gaming and the industry are a staple at G4TV. What you might not know is that besides being the Co-Host of X-Play, he is also Editor in Chief Games of Content. I had a chance to chat with him before Comic-Con, and wanted to get his honest, candid thought’s on Sony."

I hate looking at him!
He Needs to get that gap
fixed between his teeth asap!

bobcostus5768d ago

@Above,

Way to be a shallow bitch.

GaMe015768d ago

because the Tv show you co host is a lot better.

Persistantthug5768d ago

But that weakness has caused their current strength...

The games they are coming out with are not matched by anyone.

Over the course of approx. the last 2 years, They really have come on like GANG BUSTERS and turned up the volume level to enormous levels.

Whoever thought Sony would remain lackluster, clearly they've been made a fool...seriously.

Dac2u5768d ago

Consider me a fool. In late 2006, I thought Sony was done for, with their outrageous prices and all the bad publicity. I was sure they were headed in the same route as Sega.

Well, two years ago I decided to buy a console and looked at what the Xbox and PS3 were offering and were going to be offering in the future. Now, I'm happily playing my PS3 with egg on my face. Sony really knows how to deliver on the goods, it may just take them a little while.

whothedog5768d ago (Edited 5768d ago )

@gamergirl
You have a picture we can all judge and point out your flaws.... ITS A GAMING SITE!

On topic, it was a good interview and I like to hear what he thinks, he is usually pretty honest with how he feels about what's going on in the industry.

N4BmpS5768d ago (Edited 5768d ago )

Adam Sessler is one of the best and most respectable gaming journalist, well ever really, he may not be good at every game but he knows what he's talking about.

And Uh girlgamer you're not painting a very good picture for yourself and other females. Now I can add you to "the many, many shallow women I know exist" list congrats. If anything that's why you got so many disagrees. This isn't about how pretty or un-pretty he is.

ForNgoods5768d ago

But only on the merits of what you stated about Adam Sessler. I used to think he was pretty funny and knowledgeable about games. Then i was unfortunate enough to witness him commentate during the EVO finals and realized he didnt have a clue what the hell he was talking about. What's funny is during the rebroadcast of the final on G4, they edited out all the dumb remarks he made that showed his ignorance.

Aside from that i do agree with you, b/c it seems girlgamer is pretty shallow.

N4BmpS5767d ago

Well Adam Sessleer Himself said he doesn't know much of anything about Fighting video gameson the show and on the G4 podcast. Actually the only reason he was there was because he was chosen to represent G4's presence, they did have better more fighting game savy fighting pros on their show, don't know why they chose Sessler.

Other than fighting video games he has a substantial amount of knowledge and he loves the industry (although he's somthings I didn't agree with)

But at least you told me why you disagreed with.

Darkstorn5767d ago (Edited 5767d ago )

Adam Sessler is the smartest, most interesting video game journalist out there. Excellent interview.

I think most of the animosity toward him stems from his outspoken political views, which should not figure in to how he is seen in the video game realm.

BannedForNineYears5767d ago

@GirlGamer, would you rather have a retard who knows nothing about gaming (Olivia Munn) but looks really good host a show?
Or someone who doesn't look that great but actually uses logic when he talks? (Adam Sessler)

Psssh, GirlGamers. >_>

Girlgamer1165768d ago

So I get a disagree for expressing my
opinion! Adam Is a rich guy! There Is no
excuse for him to still have that gap between
his teeth. I don't even watch Xplay anymore for
that exact reason!

GoodSpeed5768d ago

You don't watch a show because of a dental imperfection? So there's probably not anything you can watch on television because ALL people have some imperfection somewhere. Well, maybe you don't, but I won't try to get into a back and forth with you. That's just kind of silly to point something like that out. This isn't People Weekly, this is N4G. We're not here to talk about visual appeal, unless it's Olivia Munn...

squallheart5768d ago

this is what mtv and media has created. Shallow women like girlgamer.

DaBadGuy5767d ago

I hope you're hot so at least you have an excuse for being so catty and fresh.

iceman065767d ago

a true excuse to be that shallow and vapid!!!

Nihilism5768d ago (Edited 5768d ago )

I think sessler is a pretty cool dude. He's not an immature fanboy for 1. So that puts him above 99% of other games journalists. He is eccentric...another bonus.

"When you really think about it, it's the ones who have gone mad who are the most endearing" - Ergo Proxy.

I like his insanity.

tiamat55768d ago

Not a very good interview. Not because he looked down on Sony per se but his answers were unsatisfactory. They just didn't sound convincing or informative. In my personal opinion I find Xplay has gotten very boring and one sided. I used to trust their scores until a few resent ones that made no sense.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8517d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele16d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk16d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay16d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10117d ago (Edited 17d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit16d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg16d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10116d ago (Edited 16d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14916d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle29d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit29d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog30d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog30d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad30d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_30d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage30d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda29d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
