More than Killing: Multiplayer Modes that Offer a Different Experience

Most multiplayer games these days are boring and uninspired. With a creative medium such as video games, you would expect some truly unique experiences on offer. But most big studios haven't gone there, because...well...it's risky, and the money isn't in it.

I know these aren't the best examples, but I'm glad for even little changes to what we're used to, like what Halo: Reach did in the multiplayer beta (lots of new modes) and Gears of War 3's Beast mode.

Paul_Gale5765d ago

Whenever a developer thinks outside the box, we good good multiplayer modes. Hopefully there's more creativity to come in the future.

He points out some interesting games there. I wasn't aware of several of these titles, but I think I'll check a few of them out. Spy Party sounds particularly cool.

ColManischewitz5765d ago

I'm tired of killing things in games.

I agree. Let's hug them instead./s

Team deathmatch does get old after awhile.

marioPSUC5765d ago

Yeah, I like teamdeath match but after awhile it just gets really boring, as much as I hate MW2, I would like to see more games with a SND type mode.

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_92366d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil365d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

__y2jb365d ago (Edited 365d ago )

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

Steam's highest-rated game is now less than a dollar in the Spring Sale

Jack writes: "Yet again browsing the latest offers in the Steam Spring Sale has led us to track down the very best. In terms of price to quality, we don’t think that it gets much better than this. Portal 2 is now less than a dollar, and if you haven’t got it already, now is the time to pick it up."

TheEroica782d ago

Portal deserves to be one of steams highest rated games... It's almost tetris levels of perfect game design.

TheEnigma313782d ago

It's a great game, but highly overrated. But for $1, it's an amazon deal.

Friendlygamer782d ago

Valve should bring their games to ps5

Kados782d ago (Edited 782d ago )

Gotta love Steam. Just got Portal 2 for .97 cents CAD. Should have been $1.29, selected the bundle with Portal 1 and 2, which gets a 25% discount, already have Portal 1, so it removes the cost of that, and still applies the full 25% bundle discount to Portal 2. 90% + 25% discount.

Friendlygamer781d ago

That's sweet, I've been thinking about building a modest pc to play some oldies
