Gamertag Radio writes: "A lot of small pieces fit into a game that then combine together to create the overall experience for the player. One that is not only essential, but likely rarely taken into consideration for a games 'goodness' even as we unconsciously are affected by it is simply put: music."

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
I love game music, like halo, half life, perfect dark, goldeneye, mass effect
to me, a game can't be amazing and legendary without music. look at mario, look at zelda, look at half life, look at halo.

Music really is the glue that binds me to a good game. It can color my perception of how great the game is overall. To me (full disclosure - classical musician here), the overall sound design is as important as the overall graphics, and the soundtrack is as important as the visual art direction.
For example, I really don't think I would have appreciated FFXIII so much if I wasn't a fan of the music, but it's definitely on my list of favorite orchestrated game soundtracks. Games in the Katamari Damacy series' quirky look, premise, and gameplay were masterfully paired with original and brilliant tracks, like some crazy off-kilter wine being paired with the best cheese from Bizarro World. Uncharted 2's massive blasts in the soundtrack, alongside some interesting world-music influences, really complimented the giant ancient architecture you were being overwhelmed by throughout the game. Two retro-ish games that had amazing soundtracks that fit the art style well were Castlevania: SOTN and ActRaiser 2.
Sometimes great soundtracks are just a short, pop-ish backdrop to a highly-concentrated and fast-paced game, like many great shmup soundtracks (Einhander, R-Type Delta, Darius and Gradius Gaiden, Radiant Silvergun, rail-ish shooters like Panzer Dragoon Orta and Sin and Punishment, even the first Star Fox soundtrack), and they're another enhancement/hook to keep me playing. I'd probably say that The World Ends With You's soundtrack fits in here also - it's hanging in the background, but it really enhances what you're doing. When I hear one of those tracks, I feel like I'm playing the game.
I love some games for making music the cornerstone of the game itself. Rez, of course, is a great example, but so are lighter titles like Gitaroo-Man, Osu! Takake! Ouendan, Lumines, and even Meteos (you basically make the whole soundtrack by playing). I liked the idea of Space Invaders: Infinity Gene, although I feel that the music levels could be more intuitively linked to the music that generated them. And of course, DDR/Bemani/Rock Band/etc. are great for parties and possibly even better for conventions!
Of course, music can't save a bad game. Kurulin Fusion had tracks by Nobuo Uematsu that were cool re-imaginings of famous Bach pieces. The gameplay? Blech. I also have played a couple of music games for the iPhone where the gameplay was sub-par or the graphics stuttered too much, which was too bad since the music was great.
I hate to say it, I love my music. But the first thing that gets turned off in my games is the music.
I love music!
Music really is a big deal in games. I love Nobuo Uematsu, he is easily the best Music director for video games.
