Umm, Mass Effect is not on PS3. lol Unless you're trying to make some point I'm unclear what you're saying here.

As far as this article goes, though, it's obvious that the Move will appeal to more players since it has hardcore games in its list of supported games such as Socom 4, GT5, LBP2, KZ3, and Resident Evil 5. Personally, I'm getting a Move, a subcontroller (I already have the PS Eye), a copy of Killzone 3, and one of those third party PS Move gun controllers (which look pretty sick actually).

The big difference between Move and Kinetc for me is that from the demonstrations i've seen, Move adds to the experience and improves gameplay and immersiveness greatly, while Kinetc detracts from the gameplay of a normal joypad experience.

All i have to say is, look at Echochrome II and chameleon for Move and you can see the depth of potential

Of course ME1/2 aren`t on the PS3, I own them for the 360. But if they were on PS3 they would work for playing a game like ME1/2 or if the Move was for the 360.

Is really necessary a comparison? We're seeing the Move working as Promised, loads of videos are proof of that, this is not a "biased" opinion, cos every site is actually showing how great Move works, the demos alone are mind-blowing (chameleon + RTS, etc), Imagine what Devs will do with this 1:1 tracking motion-controller, I'm expecting for an avalanche of Move patches for released and upcoming games, also the "launch" line-up is great, Time Crisis x 3 in 1 bundle, enough said...

And for people that want to downplay the current line-up of games by saying "some games have the option to play with Move, but weren't created for the device", that's a misconception, you don't want games only for Move, you'll want games to play with Move

PlayStation Move is what everyone thought the wii was going to be but never happened...

The verdict is Kinect has no games, and can never be used for the kinds of games real gamers are used to. Add to that the fact of ridiculous lag and if you've got yourself a complete failure of a product.

Edit: I think the point Maria is trying to make is that hardcore RPG/Shooter hybrids like Mass Effect would work perfectly with Move. Good job being Captain Obvious though, blumatt. I can't wait to see the look on your face when the trilogy appears on PS3.

I don't know what is wrong with certain people that can't decipher a quality technological device which is accurate in replicating physical 1:1 gestures and movements from something that is way more limited in terms of laggier response time and being able to be implemented in any game.

There isn't any competition when it comes to kinect and the ps move because the camera which trAcks the move controller can do the same as kinect but not track in 3d and the move controller can be used for all type of games be it hardcore or casual.

People who have been following natal/kinect for over a year and sees the constant problems and lag with the technology are gullible imbeciles if they plan on getting it, especially the core games. Someone says kinect is amazing and problem free but when you watch leaked preview of the tech you realise that its crappy. With the ps move , I can watch hundreds of previews , but with kinect, I'm only able to watch previews with a controlled environment with Microsoft reps .

To each his own...

The Move CAN track in 3D.

Rather than using stereo cameras however, it uses the size of the glowing ball.

The PS Move can track the wand in 3D, not do full body 3D tracking like kinect i.e. PS Move essentially tracks the acceleration, velocity, direction and position of a specific point of the glowing ball.

It's advantage is precision, almost imperceptible lag and low power usage. It's weakness is the same as the Wii, the console can't detect the placement of your entire body's limbs at any point in time. It might be able to emulate some of that, but it isn't true full body tracking.

SO each system has it's advantages and disadvantages. Some are more suitable for one type of game than another.

I will one up you, by saying that I was able to try Kinect myself at the San Diego MS Store. There are little Kinect hands-on tours around the US with various dates for you and anyone else to try it. I can't say the same about PS Move. In fact, all I have seen are videos PS Move and not given the opportunity to try it myself. There are almost no tours (I have only heard of one) and it is only a 6 weeks away from release.

Judging by that, it makes me wonder who the imbecile is. One that decries one product you can try yourself or the other that is only shown in videos.... With that said, you managed to get me to stoop to your level and call others imbecile. That is uncalled for.

@IdleLeeSiuLung lol have you not seen the puppet demo on move that was tracking the upper body in full 3d space, obviously you are uninformed, ps move has kinect like abilities as well as it's own abilities such as object modelling.
also the move is being demoed in Japan, and now in the UK at the ps beta event in Birmingham, I am so excited now

Like graphics - so what if the graphics is not real time ray traced. Does it leave me satisfied that the graphics was great.

Same with the motion controller. Regardless of the underlying tech - does it behave in the way the I expect it to. Does it make me feel that it enhanced the gameplay experience - or is it a fidgety mess that I have to pretend to enjoy because the marketing tells me it is great.

What is there to wait on?
MS and Sony showed their hands at E3. We have seen which direction both companies are headed with their motion devices. Sony is going to cover all genre's and the entire user base of gamers (hardcore to casual). MS is going after the casual crowd.

For me it's a no brainer.
I need a controller in my hand while I am gaming.

I'll throw my opinion in the mix...

I have a 12 year old son who I do not allow to play "hardcore" games.

We have a PS3, 360 and Wii.

Out of the three, he enjoys the Wii the most. The games we purchase for him are mostly "casual" and aren't the types of games that "hardcore" players play.

That said - He is very interested in Kinect because it allows him to play what he calls "fun looking games" without a controller. He is curious to play Kinectimals and the Adventure game or whatever it's called. He thinks those look fun.

I have Kinect pre-ordered. I have Move pre-ordered. I consider myself a "normal" gamer. I enjoy racing, platform, shooters, puzzle etc. As of right now, Move is the controller for the alleged "hardcore" gamer, and Kinect is the next step in technological progression from the Wii, and thus, it's a more "casual" market.

I'm not MAD at microsoft for not making launch games that cater to the "hardcore" as I'm sure that some developers will find a way to integrate the games into the new technology.

I like the way that Move is looking, but in all honesty, it's really just a 2010 version of what the Wii did in 2006. It may be more precise, and the games will be for the "hardcore", but the technology is very similar to the Wii, and is more of a parallel technological advancement rather than a progression.

You can disagree with me all you want because I'm not a "diehard fanboy" like everyone wants everyone to be. Fact of the matter is, I don't care what people think if they can't have a logical conversation without letting their alliance to "one console" get in the way. I have all three, I love all three.

I pick the device that have 1:1 Tracking, Hardcore Games, 22ms delay lag, Facial, Body tracking and Voice Recognition and works with any game, with more than 40 Games in the Catalog.

Again! This is not a choice between 2 products. Both companies involved are going to profit hugely from this competition. Because this is a competition between Kinect, Move and NEITHER. I'm not buying either, and both companies can take their casual crap elsewhere.

Yeah I don't get it that people hate on how PS Move "looks". Who cares about the glowing ball and whatnot. At least it works as intended with precise accuracy. I guess there's nothing else to complain about the Move, so people turn to how it looks, which is not even that bad.

It is called spinning. The outcome was decided before the article was written. If you can not find a negative point - then pretend there is a negative point. Pretend that it is a deal breaker.

Just look at the hardcore XB crowd who suddenly pretend to be into casual games. Not so long ago they were talking about how the Natal camera was going to scan a million lines of resolution and be able to detect every digit of the finger even behind 5 people as the x-ray vision super 3d tech was going to detect a fraction of a millimeter movement using some great heat seeking missile tech build into the camera. And now the resolution is low, slow, and can barely track a skeleton accurately - and with a lot of lag. Now suddenly casuals is important - new terminology have to be invented for fictitious genres that the Kinect is going to usher in at some future date.

Now being accurate and doing all these things is less important that how the device looks.

There are at least 15 games announced for both the Kinect and Move. Which games do you think would talk the right way? I believe the games with Move support are far superior to the games with Kinect support. Which do you think has the best games on the horizon?

The casual news services see any game as a replacement for the current status quo. Kinect has games, therefore it satisfies people who play games -- that's their logic, flawed as it may be.

Its the most different from existing control schemes, and the media loves different. We all know that may not translate into success, at least in the "non-casual gamer" crowd, but that point doesn't matter to the casual media. They don't care about gamers. They care about fads, the new thing, and "what if". Kinect fits that bill, even though it may not satisfy them for long.

The Move is similar to existing motion control, but its honed -- made *well*. That's obvious. The fact that Kinect isn't going to overthrow the status quo in motion control, of which the Move is the pinnacle, is only really obvious to serious gamers, however.

If the kinect does have a killer app is the game that is been made by the Rez developers and that is still a multi game and as far a dance central the developer said it would love to bring it over to the PS3 too so is going to be multi too…

Harmonix is a big name, and frankly the dance game was the best of the Kinect lineup. It has the means to inject new life into the aging dance genre basically invented by DDR.

I wouldn't underestimate that particular title. It may be the only serious title of note for Kinect, but it'll probably be big until everyone realizes that Kinect is basically just an accessory to play that game with. Even so, people buy good (the durable kind) DDR pads for near $100 -- Kinect isn't that much more, especially if it offers a better experience to DDR players.

Even if Kinect is a one-trick pony with Harmonix's game (and sequels), it'll sell decently. A revolution for the game industry it's not, though.

i agree dance central will honestly be for a niche crowd. Probably for the younger kids and maybe teen girls.

In all honesty i believe kinect will sell for the uninformed consumer and thats who they are aiming for. We all know microsoft advertises like crazy and will not hightlight their weak points.

I for one will be buying move as there is more applications for it and better control. The same for people i know especially girls who want the move for eyepet. I just want time crisis lol

I don't think you understand that the concept of a killer app if you think a rez sequels is one.

I do agree with you that i think that's the best thing to come from this years E3 for kinect and also i think there's not likely to be a move port at the moment as the rumours are showing against it from the creator. That may change.

A true killer app is something that a lot of people will want or need - like spreadsheets [ /history lesson ], halo [sold the xbox], like Gran Turismo [ playstation 1], gta3 [ playstation 2] .. or mario.

Dance central *is* kinect's killer app right now because it leverages the mainstream whilst also appealing to many of the core. Child of Eden is currently only for the core - and even then maybe not all.

God it's stunning though.

I wish we could place bets, cause I'd bet anything Kinnect will sell sh1tloads more than MOVE.

I'm buying Kinnect for the get togethers at my house to show friends/family the new gimmick in gaming.
I showed vids of 3 games to a couple girl-friends, games being Zumba, Dance Central,'and some workout game and guess what ...... Yep that's right, they all want it and none of them own a video game console.

I respect what Sony's doing with MOVE, taking the idea/concept of the Wii and make it better ..... But again, I'd bet the house Kinnect sells much more than MOVE.

Here's the real question, as an avid gamer yourself, which of the two motion control options adds versatility to the games that you have come to know and love, the first person shooters, the third person survival horror games, the real time strategy games etc. Which one offers a wider range or gameplay possibilities for developers to create more even more creative games? Which one will be limited by the same constraints of last gen tech?

By calling out "sales sales sales" does not mean that Kinect will enhance the gaming experience. What we have seen repeatedly infact is that it dumbs down the gaming experience to cater to the casual crowd. As a navigation device for teh 360.. maybe... but at $150... maybe not!

That's the problem. He isn't an avid gamer. He is a 360 fanboy. It matters more that the Kinect sells more. The games don't matter. The controllers themselves don't matter. As long as Microsoft wins he is satisfied.

Edit: A prime example is Hades1337 with his reply to your first comment. He wants the sales to do the talking. I say let the sales do the talking. When Kinect type games take over for a few years you can blame people like him. Remember how long it took for Nintendo to actually try making games that gamers wanted after the Wii took the casual world by storm? Microsoft is WAY more dedicated to cashing in than Nintendo. Kinect success means 10 solid years of "WTF?!?" from gamers.

Why does everyone pretend like developers are going to stop making "normal" games for the 360?

Kinect is not the end all, be all for the future of the 360, just like Move is not the ONLY way games will be played on the PS3. There will still be controller based games on both consoles for people to play.

Move will be using it's new controller to enhance the "hardcore" AND casual games, while Kinect is bringing MS further into the casual market. I'm sure that crafty developers will find ways to bring more "hardcore" games to Kinect once they have time to dev for it.

I don't understand what the big deal that people have with Kinect. It is not like you can't play non-Kinect games on the 360 after it comes out.

I'm sure that the problem people have, is that they are biased to one console, and immediately dismiss everything from the other. I prefer to keep my options open...

And I would bet that the timing from MS is going to cause the biggest number of pre-order cancellations that we have seen.

Just imagine - More than a full month before Kinect - the Move demo stand right next to the Kinect stand.

The laggy thing with only a few casual games - including some bizarre experiments like the driving with no steering wheel or controller - next to SOCOM, 1:1 tech demo's as we've seen. And for entry level - $49 vs $149.

Sony can even go further and show the dance mat / Eyetoy games that does the same as the only game that seemed to get attention as worthwhile for Kinect at a fraction of the price - or some really low cost PS2/Eyetoy bundle with all the Eyetoy games for dirt cheap.

MS is in trouble with this one. To succeed they had to launch before Sony. And like the HD-DVD which was less capable than Blu-Ray, I predict the outcome is going to be the same. Kinect has some really cool technology - but that does not result in great gameplay. It is misguided, overpriced, overhyped - and worst of all - is going to market after the Move. More than anything else - that will sink it.

What an idiotic article. Any article that refers to Sony's Move by stupid names like dildo, ball on a stick and ice cream cones can't be expected to be taken seriously. These people are game media trouble makers who start flame wars for hits on their sites. That said Microsoft has already alienated their user base with Kinect, while Sony has embraced theirs. Most casuals have a Wii, while the Move will take a big chunk of non gamers and casuals away from Microsoft two months before plus the 500,000 high potential buyers with a PSEYE. Where does every one think Microsoft will get the 'millions of people' that everyone seems to think will buy the Kinect from?

Reading through this thread and similar others, the counter arguments for Kinect are becoming less and less. I guess even the 360 fanboys are begining to agree that, though they may buy Kinect out of loyalty to the brand, in terms of gameplay possibilities and versatility - Move wins hands down!

Kinect could be a real big thing for Microsoft if they market it correctly and make enticing casual audience packages. However, it won't last long. It'll soon be sitting up on top of people's tvs collecting dust because it just cannot be used for substantial gaming experiences and the interface advantages can only take it so far. We've already seen its limitations where girls can't wear dresses or you have different heights of friends (a huge problem since I'm 6'7")and that really dissapoints me. It's cool technology, but its just not practical.

The Move isn't anything revolutionary and will have a lot of problems starting off I think, but if the hardcore audience really adopts it, it could become big in the world of gaming in the coming years. Also, an important thing to remember is that while the Move can enhance many games with their controls, they can also be played with the Dual Shock. That could be looked at as bad from a possible marketing standpoint, but very good from a player standpoint. Sony's in this for the long haul and if they do things correctly, the ps3 could possibly live up to its ten year cycle and beyond.

ps move is the future, it tracks in full 3d space, has object modelling and augmented reality, also it has a variety of games showing just how god the move is, most kinect games remind me so much of how I had to interact with eyetoy, except somehow it managed to be worse it lags more, you have to wear suitable clothing, be within a certain distance, be a certain height, you cannot sit down, 2 player support max and voice recognition does not always work, kinect will sell well at first due to hype, but it will die and gather dust real quick
