It's when you tell me I'm an idiot for owning an Xbox, For playing Halo, Alan Wake, etc, FOR CHOOSING TO DO WITH MY MONEY WHATEVER I PLEASE, when you come into topics that have nothing to do with the console you own, or games you're not even interested in, and spout off your little cynical, hypocritical Bullsh*t, THEN, we have a problem.

If people on this site, kept to groups that were like-minded and only sparked conversations in topics that they are GENUINELY interested in, this place would be so much more peaceful.

Really? For idiots? That`s funny. When people`s 360s were breaking down in mass numbers across the world while my PS3 ran whisper quiet, I didn`t feel like an idiot. When Blu-Ray emerged as the new standard format, I didn`t feel like an idiot. When Uncharted 2 swept nearly every award possible in 2009, I didn`t feel like an idiot. However, when I look at my two broken, dusty, old 360s sitting in the corner right next to the 40+ games 90% of which don`t even require a 360 to play, I feel like an idiot.

Brand loyalty isnt idiotic and a bit of rivalry can be fun.

I agree with Psfan999. Sony owners are loyal because of good service throughout the years. Dispite the few hiccups that have occured Sony has done nothing but give us a multitude of varied games. I even understand Wii owners sticking with Nintendo because of their past accomplishments. But I think some of us are slightly confused by the Microsoft 360 loyalty.Besides being the least varied and least innovative when it comes to games, their console hardware skills are subpar. I mean seriously, look how long it took them to get their console right. One faliure and one malfunctioning one that took 3 years to make work properly. And then people have the nerve to come in here with wild claims like Sony are liars, Kinect is better than the Wii, Kinect works perfectly unlike Move, Sony doesn't know what they are doing with no proof or basis for their claims. Sony and Nintendo have earned their way into being respected game companies. Microsoft bulldozed itself in with no respect at all. And they wonder why we argue.

thats exactly how i feel. ps3 and 360 fanboys are just idiots. ive had a ps1, ps2 ps3 xbox 1 and 360. i prefer the 360 as current gen cause of the control and my friends playing on it, but MS just blows ass cause of their ridiculous online prices and accessories. ps3 is better value but controller and online isnt so good.

Specifically the first question. I read articles about the Wii, 360, DS and PSP, systems I don't have but played all of them, interesting. I have friends that have all these consoles so I take it upon myself to feed them info they might not know (the info that's not a rumor)I care about all the consoles so it's just something I do and if a really interesting sounding game comes out on a system I don't have I will tell them about and try to make them buy it. I don't think that would make me an idiot.

baodeus you should really learn to write not rant. You asked too many questions for me to answer. For one thing the orignal Xbox was clunky and overheated and was avoided by most developers. Even Microsoft obviously knew it was a piece of junk judging by the way they abandoned it before it completed a full console life. Secondly I don't know where you have been but the failure rate of a PS3 was less then 5% while the 360 was over 20% and the PS2's problems were not only minimal but easily fixed. Thirdly not sure what you have been looking at but Microsoft's games consist mostly of shooters, sports and PC like games. No platformers, no action adventure, no action platformers, barely any casual or RPGs.And even when they do have them they are low selling and half @$$ed e.g. Banjo Koozie NB, Blue Dragon. Finally I have played the 360 and the Wii.So I am not just a PS3 owner who knows nothing about other consoles. Calling me names and disagreeing with what I say doesn't make it any less true

I dnt like Xbox360's Exclusives so why should I buy it??......PLAYSTATION has bin spoiling me ever since PS1, PS2 and now PS3.....so I am Loyal to they Product n great Exclusive games.

Nintendo did analog controls first on N64.

However sony can be credited with introducing dual analog... because they figured if they'd copy it they would double it up.

Personally I don't know how anyone can be loyal to sony.. maybe i'm just unlucky but I went through two ps2s due to the disc read error... by the time I sold my psp, it would take me 5 hours of charging for one hours worth of gaming. Then I got one of the old sony mds and had the exact same problem, my battery would last 2 hours off a full charge. Seems like a lot of people actually do like sony so maybe i'm unlucky.

As for microballs, well i'm about to buy my fifth 360 as my current one is showing signs of the dreaded disc drive of doom.. stupid halo reach making me want to buy another one of their shitty consoles :(

Nintendo however i've never had problems with their hardware but 90% of their games are pure bullcrap.

I'm allowed to talk crap about the 360 then, cuz I had one. PS3 has the best exclusives - I say that as an experienced gamer who wants to get into the business of becoming a developer.

You might call me spoiled, but I've had every single console released from 1996 until now at one point or another, even if it was just for a couple of years, and IMO, PS3 is #1, PS2 is #2 and PS1 is #3. How can I not be a total Sony fanboy with an experience like that?

Thing is, if I try both consoles then decide I prefer one over the other (by a huge margin) for plenty of VALID reasons, I STILL get called a "fanboy". People who do that are idiots too, in my opinion...

I don't bestow "loyalty" willy nilly - I moved from Saturn to PS2, dipped in Dreamcast and went through to Xbox then PS3 (having a second hand 360 for around 6 months). The latest Sony console has impressed enough for me to conclude I don't need any other system right now.

There's no loyalty. I choose the PS3 by a landslide because it's obviously the superior console. Free online gaming, built in bluray, best console graphics, hardcore motion controls, 3D gaming, more 1st and 2nd party exclusives, reliable hardware, etc... You simply can't say the same for the 360.

I buy every console every generation, because I'm a videogame fan, not a console manufacturer fan. I've got every console since the atari 2600, up to and including this generation.

I can play every game that comes out if I want to, so there's no way I can lose, unlike the people who restrict what games they can play out of blind loyalty to a company that doesn't care about them.

If you don't own all the consoles each generation, you're missing out - no if's, but's or maybe's about it.

Loving your console of choice is fine, it's hating the other is where the problem is. No need to bash on something that you don't even own. Anger like that usually goes beyond just gaming and most likely affects every part of that person's life. It's really sad to see.

I owned all 3 console's last gen, and rarely used my PC. This generation the console's were overpriced and in my opinion weren't significantly better graphically than the last gen, unlike the massive jump from PS1 to PS2, or N64 to gamecube.

The games cost $10 on console's and a lot of my favourite franchises weren't there at launch....we have only just got an FF game now... there was no mario game at launch...

People always change how they game, it doesn't really matter what platform. I don't have as much disposable income as I used to so I have to pick and choose too.

I agree with the article. The only peace of hardware I'm loyal to at the moment is my gaming laptop because without it not only would I not be able to play PC games but I also wouldn't be able to do many other things I have to get done in my daily life.

the ps brand has had the best games and most features since it entered gaming. with the ps3 i own multiple goty winning games, the best and more exclusives then the pc and 360 with more variety in exclusives then nintendo, new features that aren't anywhere else like home and folding home plus more, free online with lots of games using dedicated servers meaning far les lag, it is a multi media console so i don't have to do just one thing with it and it does many other things. i'm not going to sit here bs that the 360 is a goood console when it's not. it has the worst failure rate of any electronic, uses laggy p2p servers, it barely has any exclusives(no reason to own the system if most of the games are on other consoles), they don't have many features and the ones they do have are free on the ps3 like twitter and face book, over priced add ons for things that are free on the ps3 like wifi and and hdd, paying to play online when no one else does(why should i pay full price for just acess to the single player then pay more to get access to the other half of the game), they never try anything new they just follow so everything is old when it hits the 360 like 3D will be and many other things. yes the ps3 isn't perfect but it is a far better consolethat gives you far more then the other to combined. i'm not going to pretend these things are ok just to be nice because then they will never be fixed(360 fanboys denied rrod for years and it never got fixed till people treatened to sue then it got lowered in weeks).

There is nothing wrong with being loyal to the console you have. The problem I see is what actually drives players to dislike a product? Take the 360 for example. I know someone who despises it for one simple reason. That reason is, they were burned by M.Soft(in their opinion) with Windows Vista. And from that point on, have decided to utterly hate and despise anything M.soft does. Imo, this sort of reason is complete crap and people with this mind set are what's wrong with console loyalty.

I don't like the 360 for the simple fact of a, failure rate(which I have first hand experience with) b, buying brand new games just to get disc read errors and scratched discs c, having to buy the wireless antenna(come on M.soft even the Wii is wireless) and d, the controller sucks ass. Don't get me wrong I still on occasion play the 360 sitting in my other room. If I'm able to get past disc read errors, I play for all of 10 minutes or so before I get bored and fed up with the visuals.

The original Xbox was pretty bad ass in it's day. First with a HD and had (imo) the best exclusive game to hit a M.soft console... Steal Battalion.

My other consoles are a Wii, PsP and my gaming pc. And I'm quite loyal to the three. Haven't had problems with either of them. Not to mention they're more reliable than my 360.

Did I mention that Blind Console Loyalty makes some Fanboys go far enough to the edge to actually SPOIL games for other people? I think we've forgotten that as well.

People can have preference, sure, but the entire fanboy war is just pathetic. I have a PS3, 360 and gaming PC. I play my PS3 the most, then PC, then 360 last, but even though I don't play 360 that much it would be ignorant to say that there still aren't good games on it.

... Well such a thing will never end. I hope more gamers stop being loyal to a brand but it is inevitable. Being loyal to a company that won't hold your hand or give you a hug just for hardware reliability, entertainment value, nostalgia, recognition, etc isn't and will never be a decent excuse for being loyal. Remember this: Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft will not be there to comfort you when you really need it most or at ur end (death).

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau
