IGN: SDCC 10: Dragon Age 2 Combat Preview

Here at Comic-Con, BioWare is giving people the first look at Dragon Age 2, the sequel to the (not even a year old) Dragon Age: Origins. This will be another epic fantasy role-playing game, but some key changes are being made to the design.

When i first read about DA2, i didn't like the info, but this sounds good. The graphics change to me wasn't really needed, because to me the graphics fit well with the game. I loved it the way it looked, but the new graphics dont really seem to differ too much. The combat seems to be even better (I loved the combat in DAO), it seems to take it to the next level.

While the DLC thing already makes me a bit worried, i loved the DLC for DAO, not really the darkspawn one though, just didnt fit.

I haven't been able to finish the first one because my PC keeps freezing at the exact same spot in the game. :/

I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software problem, but I am sure that it's pissing me off. lol

Just when the game started to get interesting, too.

If you haven't updated your game, update it. They released a patch for some of the loading problems or reinstall your game after backing up your save files.

WTF did BioWare just kill Dragon Age for the console scene? Hack 'n Slash attacks?! Whats next, removing the tactical isometric view from the game altogether as well as pause? So much for this series being the spiritual sucessor to Baldur's Gate, R.I.P.

Sarevok5756d ago (Edited 5756d ago )

chillax.. BioWare are smart cookies everything they make is awesome.
Wait till the game is out then call DOOM!
If it really is bad that is.

If you know where my name is from you would know I'm a huge BioWare fan lol..

Letros5756d ago

I know, I know, I shouldn't doubt them, never made a bad game...doubt it will start now.

However, I want some Neverwinter Nights 3 or something, miss the old DnD system.

Sarevok5756d ago

Yeah me too! I miss the forgotten realms.

Too bad Atari holds the rights it.

Spenok5755d ago

Trust me, Bioware know what there doing, and this game will be well worth your $.

It looks like both the console and PC version are going to be their best. The console version of DA was clunky and wasn't the best it could be. It seems that BioWare are going to do their best to make it more appealing and easier to manage for the console crowd.

I love DA but it seems like BioWare is trying to correct everything that I didn't like about it with this sequel. Hopefully it looks better this time around, as well.

Nihilism5756d ago (Edited 5756d ago )

So not only were was the entire idea of the grey wardens a rip off of the witcher, but now they are likening the combat to it as well.\

For anyone that hasn't played the witcher: The witcher undergo a ritual that kills some of them, where they drink monsters blood as well as the tests they have to go through. AKA exactly the same thing bioware has for the grey warden initiation/back story, and like witchers they are destined to battle monsters

"The title screen already has a "Downloadable Content" option."

That is just sad I was so pissed when some guy built into the game in the camp had dialogue offering me paid DLC....very very low blow by the kings of RPG

Dragon Age Lead Says Including World State Reactivity Felt Like It Was "Irrelevant Or Not Enough"

Dragon Age 2 set the precedent that the series would always carry our choices over, but was it worth it?

If the choices won't matter, why bother? Bioware works so hard at giving meaningful choices but rarely if ever carrying out the impact of such choices to the end.

EA Made Dragon Age and Mass Effect DLC Free On PC By Retiring The BioWare Points System

Immersed Gamer writes: "In order to replace the oppressive BioWare Points system, EA is making a large portion of the Mass Effect and Dragon Age DLC catalogs free for PC users.

For those of you blissfully unaware, EA and BioWare employed a payment system called BioWare Points on PC to pay for DLCs for titles like Mass Effect and Dragon Age. While PC gamers have been struggling with BioWare point’s unfair conversion rates and extremely scarce and cost-detrimental sales.

Console players have been allowed to purchase content in pieces through the appropriate Sony and Microsoft shops. For real money, and not BioWare monopoly bucks. In turn, console players missed out on some DLC content, such as Mass Effect 2 pre-order bonuses that have been repackaged into a DLC pack."

Great response to Ubisoft and their disgusting behavior. Ubisoft decide to take away DLC from people who paid for it, while EA give it for free to everyone when they realize their system sucks. Who would have thought that EA of all companies would be showing Ubisoft how it should be done (even if this is EA fixing their own mistakes as well).

Mobis-New-Nest1379d ago

What goes around comes around and I promise you, Ubisoft will see their actions blow back on them when their diminishing sales numbers and stock taking a hit downward. That's the only way a company learns when they decide to be reactive instead of proactive.

All BioWare Games Ranked from Worst to Best

BLG writes: "There was a time that BioWare games were the biggest deal in gaming. The Canadian developer’s legacy of all-time classics is well known. Mass Effect, Knights of the Old Republic, and Baldur’s Gate are some of the biggest names in gaming.

While BioWare’s quality has fallen off lately, there’s no denying the quality of titles in their portfolio. That’s why we’re going to dive in and rank every BioWare game from worst to best. By every, I do mean every BioWare game, even the ones you completely forgot about!"

Anthem is crazy underrated. I really enjoyed it. ME1 is Bioware's best imo

I actually put quite a bit of hours into Anthem but i dont think its underrated. It was a huge mess, server issues, gameplay issues, crashes, no endgame loop, too few different enemies, uninteresting gear. too few dungeons.

It for sure had potential and if they could have managed to keep the same gameplay of the classes but without the rest of the issues, this game could have been huge, but in the state in which it launched it was such a letdown. They partly fixed some of the issues, but it took too long. A grinding game like this needs to hook players from day 1.
