Again, hoping to see more at Gamescom. This could be huge, the crytek 3 engine is simply the best around in my opinion. Only time will tell how the game will pan out though, but I have a lot of faith in Crytek.

captain-obvious5705d ago

i like this kind of games
so i need to know more about it

TROLL EATER5705d ago

like gladiator and 300. sounds very interesting

Christopher5705d ago

Kind of a misleading title. It's fundamentally different than their shooter games, but not necessarily from games within the same genre.

lastdual5705d ago (Edited 5705d ago )

We don't even know what genre it is. It might be very unique, or it might not be.

Right now all we have to go on is that it looks to take place in a Roman Empire-era setting, and clearly it will be violent. It could be an action game, an action-RPG, first-person slasher, who knows...

Christopher5705d ago

I didn't say it wasn't unique, I said the quote is out of context and misleading since they say the new game is fundamentally different from Crysis 1 & 2 and not necessarily fundamentally different from other games out there.

The sad thing is the lack of English skills here that I have to say the same thing twice because people don't know the difference between 'not necessarily' and 'is not'.

Sorry if I come off as bitchy, but sick and tired of people not comprehending posts here and just writing things that make it look like I said something I didn't.

EliteAssass1n5705d ago

a gladiator action RPG would be awesome!!

Roper3165705d ago

How can you call a engine that hasn't been seen or used in a retail game yet the best engine? Sure the tech demos look great but there is a huge difference between a tech demo and a retail version of a game.

to me until beaten by a retail release which proves otherwise Naughty Dog has the best engine going.

adamant7155705d ago

@cgoodno

You're obviously not reading his post either. He never said that you said it wasn't unique, all he was saying is that it COULD be or it COULD NOT be unique.

Christopher5705d ago

@adamant: He's responding to me, not the article. He inferred that I said otherwise in his response.

*sighs*

AAACE55705d ago

I am still shocked by the graphics! I watched the vid from E3, but it wasn't until I downloaded it on my 360 that I saw how realistic it looked! It didn't really look like game graphics, it looked like they just had real people performing.

I hope the end result turns out like this! Can't wait to see more.

I'm very interested in seeing some gameplay, or even just concept art, just to see what this game is going to be.

Bnet3435705d ago

Finally someone has the balls to do something other than a shooter. This will be a refreshing game and hope to hear about it soon. With the Cry Engine, it will be a nice to see how it looks.

SOAD5705d ago

Yes, let's set aside all the developers that make platformers and RPGs and MMOs and say that Crytek is finally the one to have the balls.

dragonelite5705d ago

You dont see shooter devs change genre much you have some all purpose devs out their like insomniac and bungie(past work before halo) to name two populair devs.

It would be interesting to see a dev like bioware to make a pure FPS i would reckon it would be like deus ex without the rpg elements.

Alos885705d ago

I hope it doesn't have Cry in the title, that's always struck me as a cheesy trait of Crytek's games.

RyuDrinksTheDew5705d ago

im pretty sure this game is gonna be huge. Microsoft didnt get exclusiveness for no reason.

ATLGAMER5705d ago

maybe they payed for it....

lelo2play5705d ago

Newsfalsh... my guess is that everybody pays to get a 3rd party studio exclusive game.

Bnet3435705d ago

lelo2play is correct. Sony had to pay to get Heavy Rain on their system. Same thing for Microsoft paying for getting Alan Wake on their system.

captain-obvious5705d ago (Edited 5705d ago )

like alan wake right ??

dont start hypin it if you dont know anything about it

xX-PEIN-Xx5705d ago

no, maybe like FF13 and GTA 4 DLC. I know your an Xbot but you can't discredit what he said.

lelo2play5705d ago (Edited 5705d ago )

Don't troll... Alan Wake is a great game. Hope Remedy makes Alan Wake 2.

Bnet3435705d ago (Edited 5705d ago )

PS3 fans were hyping The Agent as soon as it was announced with no info because a big developer was behind it, don't be so quick to judge the 360 fans. The people behind this game have a good track record, why wouldn't they hype it? I'm excited for the simple fact that it isn't a shooter. I don't know about you, but I'm getting a little tired of those.

@xX-PEIN-Xx

A lot of devs make that jump with no problems. Valve and BioWare come to mind. Don't be so stuck up, they will do fine. They have Crysis 2 coming down the pipes too.

Pennywise5705d ago

Oh its hype!!! GOTY 2012! :P

xX-PEIN-Xx5705d ago

@Kigmal Remind me, since when did Crytek become a respected developer on consoles?

DF Direct: Crysis 4's uncertain future is a grim portend for the industry

Crysis 4 is "on hold" and Crytek is facing layoffs - so what does that mean for the company that was once Germany's biggest games dev + the industry as a whole?

I really want to see a Crysis 4 with all the ray-tracing & path-tracing effects. It would be a shame if they canceled the project. Maybe they could do a kickstarter?

DF
" Crysis is something of a tentpole game series for us at Digital Foundry, with a reputation for being an early adopter of graphics technologies that would later define entire generations of PC and console video games. That includes the likes of screen-space ambient occlusion, sub-surface scattering and ray-marched volumetric lighting, but you could write volumes about just how ground-breaking that first game was "

isarai380d ago

I really hope they come out and push the industry forward like they used to. I miss old crytek

PrinceOfAnger378d ago

They all look disappointed by this news especially Alex

JEECE378d ago

Pretty sad that the studio that gave us a monumental game like Crysis is now subsisting on microtransactions from a live service PVPVE game.

Crysis 4 put "on hold" as developer Crytek is next studio hit by layoffs

Crysis developer Crytek is the next studio hit by layoffs, as it announces it's set to lose an estimated 15 percent of its 400 employees.

RaidenBlack386d ago

Why'd the day start with such sad gaming news?
Absolutely disheartening.

Jingsing386d ago

Maybe putting The Power Rangers in Hunt Showdown will get you some money back. (sarcasm)

Kassanova07386d ago

I'm always rooting for Crytek.

P_Bomb386d ago

I’m rooting for Crysis. Hope they work it out.
