How I Would Save Phantasy Star.

Bitmob looks at some easy steps to save Sega's Phantasy Star series.

IMO, return it to the storyline-based games of the SEGA Genesis era. Those games were easily on par - if not better - than the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games of that time.

i was just gonna say that. they used to be absolutely epic games. or do them mass effect style with various choices and the like. since i got into that series i'm aching for more "choice" in games.

The PS: Online ones for the Dreamcast were very addictive! I thought that formula nailed it back then even though you had to revisit the same areas over and over again it felt compeling due to the possibility of rare items drops and level up.

I wish they would release Phantasy Star online (DC version) on PSN or Xbox Live with party support and HD for a reasonable price and see what happened. If the game succedds then they could start a sequel but with larger areas, more randomized zones in each area and at least 10 diferent worlds.

that ain't happening anymore sega seems to be making more money of this formula than the old one

phantasy star games could be better if they actually got freaking support for the games

PS1 and 2 were great. 3 was disappointing but I've read 4 was great. A shame they went the online route with the series. I agree the Genesis PS games were on par with the best of any RPG series.

Sega should come out with sequels to PS, Shining Force and Panzer Dragoon Saga. Heard skies is really good (have the game but never played), so why not a sequel as well.

I do not want sequels after sequels for all games but certain classics should be revived after a time. It really is amazing how some Devs are just sitting on potential gold out there, for them and for gamers.

Just give it to the makers of Valkyria Chronicles, they also made Skies of Arcadia.

I'm pretty sure that part of the reason I helped save Phantasy Star 2, was the $80 price tag I paid when it first came out. Yiiikes!

izuna5775d ago

What do you mean SAVE? It's successful in Asia.

Redempteur5775d ago

i was wondering that too .

The portable version (psp) of universe were best sellers for weeks and are still played kinda like monster hunter ( they are the same kind of games )

izuna5775d ago

sure, but your definition of similar is a bit too simple for me.

DA_SHREDDER5775d ago

I say bring it back to the Phantasy Star Online roots. PS Universe was noting more than an upgraded turd.. I cant believe they took it off xbox live. I miss playing that game.

PSOBB is still running in Japan, making them cash. Do you really think there's much of a market in the West for PSO? It won't come into a quarter of what something like Guild Wars 2 will do.
