During a recent Sony event in Chicago, the focus of which was SingStar for the PlayStation 3, GameSpot had an opportunity to spend some time with SingStar 80's and SingStar Amped for the PlayStation 2. Sony makes no secret of the fact that the upcoming games don't add new features to the formula already established in the "Pop" and "Rocks!" editions, they're song packs, each boasting 30 tracks for you to sing along to.
Both SingStar 80's and SingStar Amped are currently scheduled for release in North America on September 14.
Here are the lists:

Gamasutra: "Rumors were circulating the depths of the internet last week, as it looked likely that the PlayStation 3's popular karaoke series SingStar was going free-to-play. As it turns out, it's perhaps not as free-to-play as you would have guessed."

Ai-Phuong, from Gameolio, writes:
"The first music orientated video game I can remember playing was Bust-A-Groove on PSX. Does anyone remember that game? With all those anime characters dancing in 3D and you had to press in button combinations every four beats? I loved that game. I still love that game. You know what? I love music video games in general. They’re easy to pick up and play and there’s just so many different types and different ways to play them on every gaming platform to date."
Dance games are having a resurgance, meanwhile music instrument games are dying....round and round we go..
Pozzle? Are you insane? That beast was never "pretty", unless you are using that word as a prefix for ugly. She looks like a man who had a sex change to be a woman, but the sex change failed. Also, she was clothing like she is a retard. I hate fashion, but seriously, this bitch wears stuff she finds at the garbage dump. Cuts holes in it and wears it looking all manly, with weak music.
it looks like she's got some weird grey moustache thing going on in that pic lol.

PS3Hype writes: 'Today Sony announced that the SingStar series has surpasses 20 million copies sold after 5 years! A year ago the SingStar series has sold 16 million copies. That means that in one year the franchise sold 4 million copies!'
What a spectacular achievement, especially since you guys have only released 27 titles in 5 years.
HOLY CRAP!that's a lot!
Also R&C surpassed 25 million few weeks ago
GT is at around 53 million
I think Buzz! is also pretty big
nice to see Sony got some big franchise, they are really important
It's weird, you don't think much of these franchises, see nothing about their sales, and yet...
I remember playing it in Best Buy and I thought it was a very good game. Unfortunately, people in my house don't like to sing openly...no matter what so there was no need to buy it.
