the multiplayer will probably be just like all shooters..

Pandamobile5779d ago

Multiplayer wasn't Crysis' strong point, but the big thing it brought to the table was it's awesome game-mode called Power Struggle. It's basically an arms race between the Americans and Koreans to build bigger and better weapons by acquiring and defending factories, crash landed aliens (which provide energy) and bases.

Nobody wins until one team gathers enough resources to buy a nuke launcher or TAC Tank to literally nuke the enemy's base. The games could last for hours and were quite awesome. I hope Power Struggle makes its way back into Crysis 2.

Multiplayer in Crysis was terrible. Anyone who's played the game can attest to this. Hopefully along with that script writer they hired for a better story mode they hired someone(s) who knows how to make a good multiplayer game.

Crysis 1 was really nothing but eye candy. Crysis 2 they have to bring the gameplay now.

You never played the game

"According to many Crysis 2 is graphically better than Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Heavy Rain."

People actually think Uncharted 2 looks better than Crysis? Let alone Crysis 2?

mrv3215779d ago

On consoles, I know I know PC high setting 60FPS... on consoles Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2 look as good as it's gets.

nikkisixx25779d ago

i think they are talking within the limits of consoles.

PS3 fans are blind, what do you expect?

A multiplatform game look better than a PS3 exclusive?? No waaaay.

SOAD5779d ago (Edited 5779d ago )

Why would you expect a multiplatform game from 2010 to look better than a contemporary exclusive?

Obviously Crysis 2 looks better than Resistance and Uncharted 1, but it's not going to look better than an exclusive released around the same time. And in 2013 a multiplatform game will probably look better than Killzone 3. But the point is that exclusives usually perform and look better because the developers take full advantage of the architecture.

Darkstorn5779d ago

@SOAD-

That's true, but Crysis isn't just any multiplatform game. If there's one thing Crytek knows, it's graphics.

CWMR5779d ago

It's true that exclusives generally have better budgets and the teams are encouraged to push the hardware more, but it is only a tendency. There is absolutely nothing that says that an exclusive has to be the best looking game on a console. Companies like iD and Crytek have technical knowledge above most other developers.

SOAD5779d ago (Edited 5779d ago )

On consoles, Uncharted 2 looks better than Crysis 2.

Edit: Panda, I will wait for more footage of Crysis 22, but from what I've seen Crysis 2 doesn't look nearly as crisp as UC2. There's a lot of special effects in UC2 that I can't articulate well, but I haven't seen them in Crysis 2.

Here's the video of UC2 that I think puts it on top of Crysis 2.

Pandamobile5779d ago (Edited 5779d ago )

I really didn't think Uncharted 2 looked that great at all. It was good, but no where near the level of Crysis. The only thing that really impressed me about that game were the cut-scenes, and most of them were pre-rendered.

From the console footage I've seen so far of Crysis 2, it looks better than Uncharted 2.

Darkstorn5779d ago (Edited 5779d ago )

@Pandamobile-

I was very impressed by Uncharted 2's graphics. I've beat it three times and still haven't seen it on an HDTV.

hoops5779d ago

Crysis 2 looks better than UC2.

CWMR5779d ago (Edited 5779d ago )

Crysis and Crysis 2 look better than Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2. Even the 360 version they showed of Crysis 2 looked better. Crytek's technical know-how is simply above most other developers.

Spenok5779d ago

Yeah on consoles easily. UC2 looks better then Crysis 2, so does Killzone 2-3. However if you were to compare these games to the PC version then it would be no contest for Crysis.

Can't wait for Gamescom. Got my press pass in the post today. :D

tdrules5779d ago

If the MP is made by Crytek UK (Timesplitters dudes) I will cream

byeGollum5779d ago

Crysis wasn't really about multiplayer. It's the Single player that counts. Stick to your call of dutys and Battlefields for your Multiplayer Fix. Sit back relax and enjoy Crysis 2 campaign. But you never know, you might like Crysis 2 MP lol, but don't count on it. Hope they prove me wrong.

Triggs5779d ago

Also Crysis was more likely a technology showcase masquerading as a full game. Crytek hoped that Crysis would have marketed their engine to third party developers, and I do not remember any other game than Crysis using the CryEngine at all (Farcry 2?)

byeGollum5779d ago (Edited 5779d ago )

Farcry used dunia engine or suttin like that... Well i think Crysis 2 is the game crytek wanted to make in the first place. At least I hope so

I'm still learning how to look for the differences. At first I was focusing on shadows for some reason but I don't think that changes much, is it reflections that change?

rashada072521d ago (Edited 2521d ago )

It is supposed to be simulating how light actually works- so yes if light is reflecting off a surface accurately it should show reflection or an effect that matches what you are looking at in the environment. Next time you play a game look at a puddle of water there may be just a "baked" in texture that if you aren't paying attention seems like it is reflecting but it isn't. I would say though if the light is reflecting more accurately I would think that would give more accurate shadows as well.
I am still not 100% sold on it- it looks okay but I can't get over the hardware price jump for better reflections..

Taz X142521d ago

While games won't look immensely better, it opens up more possibilities overall. Understandably, the price jump is huge. But, that can be said for being at the forefront for any new technology. I'm currently using a 2080ti and while I've played a few games that enable it, the gpu also plays everything else incredibly well so it's not like you're buying this tech for ONLY that option. Enthusiasts will pay top dollar to check out the newest things, but this will eventually become an everyday consumer and by then they'll have optimized and become a lot cheaper.

warriorcase2520d ago

Ray/path tracing can be used how the developer wants it to be. Tracing can be used to calculate shadows/lighting, reflection and even audio, where audio waves are calculated on the bounce off material types to simulate enviroment and echos accuratly.

Should also keep in mind that this ray/path tracing system is different and less accurate option from Nvidias RTX branded type. McFly's is a reshade that layers over the top of the game and therefor the quality will vary drastically. For example you can see nice reflection in the Star Wars demo here but it then introduces colour clipping with the light saber. On a video of GTA 5 for example it was incorrectly projecting a reflection of a red car onto the road which caused a very faint red glow on the ground around the car.

If you want to see a good example of a game developed with ray tracing reflection and lighting in mind then you could look up the youtube video of "Control - Exclusive E3 RTX GAMEPLAY Trailer".

DigitallyAfflicted2520d ago

It supposed to add more realistic light Not actually more light effects and explosions

traumadisaster2520d ago

I hate to say it but I’m fine with fake lights, shadows, reflections. I just kind of like the effect, it’s also great it saves resources for other things.

I’ve been checking out some original Xbox games on x360/x1x and the engine has fake light streaming in through a stained glass window, and I love it even though I know it’s not real time lighting. Heck it even shifts as I move about.

I’ve about convinced my self rt and hdr just doesn’t work for me. Before hdr I would even complain damn why are the headlights killing me they are so bright.

I notice most frame rate, then jaggies, then resolution; with the last two interchangeable depending.

Other day watched an enthusiast rave over 4k and the poor guy was in 1080p. I played the same game the night before and thought wow this is clean, I wonder if it’s 4k, but knew differently and I thought wow even resolution is not always important. The next day he apologized and was surprised he could be fooled.

RaidenBlack2520d ago

EA should have released the Crysis Trilogy Remaster for this gen.

FGHFGHFGH2515d ago

How come the lightsabers don't give off any light? Even in the EA star wars game the guy uses it to light up a dark cave. I guess if it is using frostbite it will support rtx cards.
