Am I the only one who thinks the shadows look really bad on the PS3 version (at least on the demo they released over the PSN)?

Got me confused there for a bit. I have the PSM this month and GRAW2 wasn't there. I enjoyed the demo so this score is not surprising at all.

Well it makes sense that they have in-depth preview of Killzone since GG is a European developer. I wish PSM had that for this month's issue, because it was kinda bland imo. Also, $40 million development cost? Wasn't it $20 million reported before if I remember correctly?

I hope the game doesn't get delayed....if it does,it better be for a good ass reason or ima be pissed.....

with the way they have turned around their performance on the PS3. If delaying a game helps them turn out gems like R6:V and now GRAW2. Then delay all you need to boys. I played GRAW2 when I had a 3FIXME and while it looked good, the PS3 version just blows it away. Just look at the explosions alone, they look real on the PS3. Somehow I get the feeling the xbot leaders at these "review" sites will stay away from screen comparisons because it will only make the 3FIXME version look like a glorified etch a sketch.

It should be better than that. GRAW2 is extra dope. On line co op is sweet with your friends and the story is good too. Just play it on hard though easy and normal are too simple. Also moving your squad correctly is key to not getting killed.

Please Sony give us a VGA cable and 1366x768 support for the PS3. I have both a 360 and a PS3, but this GRAW demo looked like dirt compared to the
360 version on VGA. Im running HDMI on my PS3. Shadows were just terrible. Rainbow 6 was the same. The 360 version on VGA was superior in every way.

If you have a native 1080p or 720p tv, then maybe you are ok. But still the 360 version looked better at 720p on component on a 1366x768 native tv.

Blue Ray at my tvs 1366x768 resolution would look soooooo much better also.

just look at the firefight you get into at the end of the demo and tell me you saw anything that intense on the 180. This game bored me when i had that console, now it actually looks exciting.

Connect your 360 to VGA and compare the demos to the PS3 on a non-native 720p display and then you can disagree.

Many TVs, especially LCD TVs have a resolution of 1366x768. Look it up. Problem is you dont have both and cant compare. That is why yours looks "sweet" in your opinion.

My TV does 720p, just not native. My opinion.

All I am saying is Sony could give us VGA support and make all HDTV adopters happy. Until then, multi-platform games for my TV look better on the 360. So, I will be only buying exclusives for the PS3. It does not help that PS3 attach rate so much.

So I guess Sony's answer is no. No VGA. You screwed up and bought a Samsung now you should buy a Bravia. I guess I'll just have to cough up some dough to get that Phillips 1080p tv(even though many TVs do 1080p over VGA) to see the real power of the PS3. I thought the cell was enough.

And yes the PS3 is downscaling, that is why the picture is not as nice.
But, a VGA adapter would solve that problem. Better to spend 50 bucks on an adapter than sell a 1 and a half year old TV to get a native 1080p 0r 720p tv. The 180 or whatever you call it does fine on the TV I own now. Microsoft supplies VGA, component and HDMI. Why cant Sony?

Was I the only one with REALLY choppy framerate in the demo? Way too choppy for my taste

The issues I had was that the textures and lighting were clearly weaker than the 360 version(I did a side by side on my tv). As well as no bobbing effect on the PS3 version. It just felt wrong without it. :(

the demo is not choppy, whoever said needs their eyes checked.
The shadows however, are not any better than on the xbox 360.
i use VGA with resolution 1280X1024 for my 360, but the game is kind of dark to begin with, i have to use night vision half the time, similar to rainbow 6.

I rented the game out on my 360 and the game is crappy to be honest. It was just GRAW 1 with better graphics, You sony fans should save your money and buy many of the better games coming out on the PS3 this year and next.

That I will agree with. Save your money. The first GRAW was much better.

My Fatal Frame III I just bought from Gamestop froze in the middle of a cutscene and I never saved. I need to go buy another copy...

I'm really sad though. That game was scary as heck for a little while.

Sorry clinton514 if I said sony fans, just refering to them to tell them to save up for the better games coming out. Gamers etc just save your money and buy all the better games coming out this year on PS3, Wii, PC, 360 etc.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
