Can the ESRB back off a bit please?

Play-mag says: "The ESRB and PEGI are two ratings boards who seem hell-bent on ruining things for people. Never mind discussions about censorship - this is one about ruining surprises. The sick [censored]."

Meh. Don't really see how it matters. It's not like spoilers for games. I don't think gamers have a problem with when they here the title. If anything it fuels excitement.

I agree, I don't think this is a huge deal. I get what he's saying but outing a game before it's officially unveiled happens all the time and doesn't at all hinder the experience.

Don't go to the website if you think the title of a game is a spoiler.

Not only do they cause problems for certain countries (Australia) they also cause parents to over react to content that then, the children ASSUME is bad.

I don't let my nephews play GTAIV or GOWIII, but Uncharted 2 is perfectly fine for kids, especially if its in a language they can't understand (to avoid swearing) yet its rated 16 (waay high)

some games are OVER PEGI rated -_-

now with spoilers too, thats double lame, especially if say a dad wants to get a game, and find out why it will be a certain PEGI since he wants to play with his kid (some content might not be so bad so he checks what it has) and in the process gets the game spoilt for him

double lame =/

Wow, the author needs to get a life. I'd hate to hang out with him, he's a whiny kvetcher.

PEGI expands age rating criteria with interactive risk categories

PEGI, the Pan-European system for the age classification of video games, is adding new categories to its classification criteria to address online interaction risks. Starting in June 2026, newly submitted games will be classified with a broader set of criteria that will focus on content and functionality, such as purchases of in-game content, paid random items, communication features, and features that incentivise players to continue playing.

Growing up playing sports games like the original FIFA games particularly 98 road to world cup being a favourite sports games were so much fun pick it up and you'd be playing instantly

Now you spend a stupid amount of time in menus and basically playing fantasy football it's just boring

If ea is forced to ditch lootboxes it can only be a good thing

to be honest, the whole age rating system needs a big overhaul. people are not as sensitive as some of these make us out to be ha.

Most of the ratings boards these days allow self examination and primarily work on a honour system.

Since the rise of streaming there's way to much content for governing bodies to shift through themselves so it's become standard practice in many places to rate it yourself on where you feel it fits into the scale so this is not the only thing that extorts the system but just one that got caught.

However back in my day you'd be selling a game on its rating being super high like doom but guess times have changed
