When Guild Wars first launched it transformed the way people played and paid for MMOs. NCSoft set out to create a high quality free-to-play mmo, which was something unheard of at the time. Shortly after launch Guild Wars was a huge success with millons of new players logging into their free-to-play accounts questing with their friends. To this day and a few expansion packs later Guild Wars is still one of the first names to come up in a conversation of MMOs. NCSoft out did themselves with Guild Wars; is it possible to do this all over again with Guild Wars 2?

A legendary adventure on the island of Castora awaits.
Who else but me posts GW2 updates 😎 One of the few companies I support, for over 20yrs.
New elite specializations and a fresh adventure on the magical and never-before-seen island of Castora - The sixth expansion launches on October 28!
GW was one of the only games to have rivaled WOW in terms of content and accessibility. And, in my opinion, to have EXCEEDED it in terms of game-play. The PVP was drop in/ drop out and incredibly balanced. The graphics were sublime, the cut-scenes were plentiful and well made. Heck, you could even play the majority of the game - including - instances solo. Yes, I know MMMOs exist because of their "social" elements, but the fact that you can solo most content should you choose to was really quite brilliant. Not to mention that the storytelling in GW is still pretty much unmatched by any MMO out there.
GW2 looks to improve over the first in every way. Read up on the latest IGN interviews if you really want to get excited. They're doing away with the standard healer/ DPS/ tank formula. And there are not just professions, but 'hobbies' that your character can undertake. The world is much more dynamic - I know that's an industry buzz/ bullshit term, but in this case it appears to be true. The team at ArenaNet are doing some pretty revolutionary stuff for the genre.
I can't wait!
I'm still debating between this and Final Fantasy XIV. I really want Guild Wars 2 but I would rather play it on my PS3. I don't know we'll see when it comes out.
