i think its all downhill 4 microsoft. sure they will have there mass effect but ps3 has 2 many tripple a titles coming and if HOT SHOTS moved sales dramatically. imagine mgs4 and ff13. but anyway. i think its safe 2 say that by 2009, sony will be in the lead and by the summer of 2008 sony will probably be neck and neck with xbox. bcuz think about it. xbox will sell systems with halo and then when more systems break. just like what is already happening, some people will convert 2 ps3. even if its alittle bit of people everytime, it will add up 2 be alot. and i wonder how many of those 11 million 360's that were sold actually work? or how many of them r not just 2 in the same house. bcuz i know a few people that actually have 2 of them so what do u guys think?

cmon everyone, you remember all the posts about vgcharts being crap.. they even did a side by side comparison with the NPD numbers, and it turns out that vgcharts was way off. It seems that when looking at the numbers sold on vgcharts, you must add 5% of the total onto the ps3 numbers and subtract 8% from the 360's total.. Cmon guys, get your act together, vgcharts in unreliable, you must add onto the ps3 numbers and subtract from the 360s numbers, geez.

Sony controls the price advantage, even while only selling 5.5 million units as stated at their conference..you have to remember that the PS2 is still out selling the 360. Sooner or later Sony is going to match price with the 360, how will the 360 compare with features with the PS3, if you a new consumer and see that beautiful black shiny box, with BDDVD, 80GB, wifi, card reader, free online...even the most xbox fanboy has to come to realization that the 360 doesn't stand a chance of winning this generation. I bought a dreamcast and the 360 reminds me of it alot, great games but the PS brand keeps coming and coming. In the history of gaming there has never been a company so dominating and so world wide accepted, even NES doesn't compare to the success of the PS brand.

AHA i was correct when I said PS3 would outsell 360 by atleast 1.5x times. It's actually 1.56x, but close enough. Also PS3 hasn't dropped price elseware except in North America recently. PS3 was $600 for 9 days of the month and was also supply constrained for atleast a few days on average every where in the month. I expect to see PS3 to have even better sales next month and the 360 with the price drop that will bring them closer to PS3, but 360's price cut is too late to have the lead back in August. 360 fans can wait until September when Halo 3 is released, but on the other hand it's going to get delayed just like any other game would.

You so called fanboys dont see the big picture, this is what the truth really is like or not. If its indeed true PS3 is selling overall well in EU than 360, and is already selling well in Japan than the 360, all the 360 really has is the US, and when it comes down to the wire, if 360 cant take over Japan or EU then its going to be one heck of a ride.

If you don't believe me, go to the site, look at the figures (and write them down somewhere), then refresh 5 minutes later, and jot 'em down again, and do it a third time after another 5 minutes.
You'll see the numbers going up, by a somewhat constant value for each console. Trust me, you'll easily find the pattern.
Moreover, you can CLEARLY tell it's fake because:
a) NO retailer provides data everyday, every 5 minutes or so.
b) There is NO way some idiot is updating the site 24 hours a day, each time a couple of minutes later, all the while supposedly getting the data from the retailers.

Well more numbers and nothing to say on that... Just two things that I think that people are talking too much in the comments letely, but don't look that logical...

First. This temporary price cut for PS3 thing... Wake up. If the BUNDLE costs 600$, most like the 80GB alone will cost at least 549$, most probably 499$ as soon as they put this no-motorstorm version on the market, cause Sony need sells.

Second. Halo can move consoles. Yes. But not THAT much. Halo 3 will make money in games, indeed, lot money, but will not sell many consoles. Halo 2 already sell those Xbox360 that you are waiting Halo 3 to sell. And even those that this game will sell, most likely it will be for fans of the series, that would anyway buy the 360, so it's not like is affecting Sony numbers anyway... This is the same guys that wasn't with Sony on the last-gen... And I'm sorry to tell that to you folks, but those once-PS2-owners don't give a sh!t to Halo... What hurt Sony's numbers is that people that sided with MS for games that was on Sony consoles, or new games on 360 that take the ex-PS2-owner attention (Mass Efect, Blue Dragon, etc)

I think PS3 numbers are too low... better but too low. maybe next month's numbers will be better... I was under the impression that the PS3 sold at least 1.5 Mil consoles since the price drop. at least.. that how lots of articles made it seem.. with the "PS3 sells increase 545,324,345%" news.. from amazon and many other retail stores..

Anyways.. kudos for Sony.. they installbase gap is not growing larger.. at least for this month..

The price drop and the good showing at E3 has spurred on sales of the PS3 which also impacted the sales of the X360 which lately had a couple of bad publicity especially the failure rates. However i am pretty sure X360 will be back especially with the Halo and co releasing this holiday season. I am sure the PS3 will be up there as well but X360 will come out tops(well second to wii) this holiday season. In the end its the games that drives sales. You guys must always remember this. When it comes to gamers. The first and the most important thing is GAMES. System reliability and extra features although is important is secondary to games. In the end i still believe X360 will be a close third to PS3 with wii on top which is proving to be the DS for the home console this generation.

I don't think the PS3 sales will go as down as they were a while back.. SONY is in a good position right now and they can afford to play with strategies to keep sales good..

Anywayz, Every xbox fan keeps going on about mass effect. I've watched plenty of hd vids, and honestly cannot see what the fuss is about, it looks like it uses halo2 engine, looks like halo, and quite frankly looks crap, and boring.

The 360 has already proven itself a classic gaming console. It has the games to prove it. Soon to be released games Mass Effect and Bioshock are getting rave previews. wow, what a time to be a gamer! it's good to see that the industry as a whole is healthy and robust. sony's "price cut" seems to have stimulated some additional sales, microsoft's reliability issues didn't seems to hurt them as much as many said they would, and nintendo is still just cruisin' right along. so many fanboys on both the sony and microsoft side are so quick to declare victory for they're respective consoles, but they are overlooking a few issues that need to be resolved before a winner will emerge.

1. the price points for a hdtv still needs to come down quite a way before the mass market will adopt and thus start to really invest in next-gen consoles. case in point, look at the continually strong sales figures for the ps2.

2. there needs to be a clear cut standard for what hd is. you have to do quite a bit of research anymore to buy the "right" tv. the average consumer doesn't want to deal with that hassle. until john and jane doe can just walk into any retailer and buy an hdtv without having to think about it, next-gen console sales won't be what they could be. less confusion will equal more sales.

i own a wii, 360, and one day when the price is right i'll pick up a ps3. while i don't agree with sony forcing blueray on the consumer without choice, the ps3 will still have some gaming experiences that i would not want to miss out on. it's my opinion, but with blueray i just can't shake the feeling that i'd be giving too much control to the mpaa. anyway that's a totally different issue. one thing is certain, the fanboyism needs to stop. don't hate, appreciate. why miss out on so many great gaming experiences? broaden your horizons. if you don't want to support "the other guy", i challenge you to do this; go buy a rival console and some games used. your money will go to the retailer and you might just find something you like. variety is the spice of life and besides, the games are what it's supposed to be about. support and rep the developers, not the manufacturers.

Good news for PS3.It wil be interesting to see if sales stay this way or if it will decrease or even go up.This is looking real good for Sony with all the great games that are going to be released over the next couple of months.I finaly picked up Ninja Gaiden Sigma,realy good,but difficult.

All this talk about next gen war can someone tell me how do you classify a winner in this contest. Is it the most systems sold? Is it the most fun gaming experiance. Is it the best increase from previouse gen. Its seems to me that what some of us might classify as a win in the so called next gen war the actualy company might have a complete diffrent look at it. Lets just take one example with sony lets say they at the end of the ps3 life span(i mean this as when they bring out a new gaming machine not when they stop production) have sold more ps3 than the 360 people will say that sony won the war right. Well it might not be quiet that simple I mean deep down most people expect sony to sell more systems by the end but what if the cap between the 360 install base and the ps3 is much smaller than that of the ps2 and xbox could ms not claim a victory???? You see where Im coming from. Lets not get started on how the wii is doing so much better than the game cube. What Im getting at is there is no next gen war happening like some people think or that this war as people call it is fought very diffrent with no clear winners. The real winners are(and this has been said a 100 times) is the gamers I mean just look at the games we can play and will be playing down the road. Take the time and just take a look at the jump that has happend with this gen. Lastly think if the ps3 is a little prisy get a 360 and play some really good games till the ps3 comes down in prise and get it and play somemore good games. If you are worried about the 360 issues wiat until the falcon hits along with a nother prise cut and then get it while you wait play some good games on your ps3. Keep gaming(wow that was long lol)

This will probably be a permanent trend now that high-end PS3 titles are coming out every two weeks, in addition to the amazing footage shown at E3 of future PS3 titles coming out this winter and next spring.

Lets not forget that Microsoft is new to the console gaming world compared to Sony and Nintendo. I am very impressed that they are doing so well for being the new guys. They may not win this gen in total number units sold, but they have gathered a huge fan base. Sony and Nintendo should be very worried.

The PS3 has much more games coming out before Christmas like Uncharted-Drake's Fortune, Lair, Hevenly Sword, Warhawk, Heavy Rain, Hot Shots 5, Folklore, Ratchet & Clank, Unreal Tournament 3,
Time Crisis 4 with Guncon, Eight Days, Gran Tourismo HD, Tekken 6 and then after Christmas (No more than one or two months after) theres:Infamous, Burnout Paradise, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4.

Well there you have it just how I imagined it no response. I'm still waiting.....
