Limbo may well be the most apprehensive review I have ever written. As I write I truly have no idea of a) how I’m going to put the game into words and b)the score I’m going to level at it. As I write the score in my head swings violently from an 8 to a 10 and back again.
You see it’s what’s NOT in Limbo that stays with you. The game has scant story and no tangible anything really. For the first minute of game time the screen looks totally empty. Everything is smudgy black, white and greys. Light swirls in misty clouds of dull blackness and the wind whistles around you. Then, suddenly but subtly, two small dots in the grass start to flicker. The developers are not afraid to leave you confused and bemused.
