I already own many of the games. Lets see how it pans out nut i am tempted by the extra 3 months

for me a unified and simpler invite system is far more important.

As a UK user I'd want FirstPlay included how those in the USA get Qore included.

I also don't like the fact that once your sub stops you lose access to your games through PlayStation Plus, maybe they could work out a way that if you do the yearly subscription that you get to keep everything, or offer a pricing tier at say £50 where you get to keep the stuff, that pretty much the main reason I've held back.

Also, it'd be nice if they could bring back Continuous Play and somehow make it part of the package.

If I didn't already own all of the extra incentives they were using to promote the service (giving Wipeout HD, etc...) or if they offered some kind of alternatives for those of us who already own the incentives they were offering.

It just didn't hold the same value to someone who already owns those games compared to someone who doesn't.

I'll wait and see how the service goes in the upcoming months before I decide if I'm gonna get PSN+.

I already own Wipeout HD, so I'm not entirely sold on the idea of purchasing PSPlus. However...the service could end up offering an assortment of free content I've yet to purchase.

Do I need it or do I want it? Thats what every gamer should ask themselves. I'm not sure what camp I fall into yet, however the 3 months extra incentive is tempting.

When I buy Gold for Xbox Live the main factor is access to online play, since PSN already offers that for free it would basically be down to game offerings for me and I'm sure many others are in a similar boat.

I think of it like this: If I get 5 games I like form it a year, its paid for itself :D

overall gaming is a want not a need(well for me its a need lol) but this feature is very welcome for those with the larger pockets.

If I buy Halo: Reach and have no XBOX Live half of the game will be missing, contrary buying Killzone 3 with no PlayStation Plus the full game is accessible. Over the years XBOX Live hasn’t been improving on too many features and if they do it’s mandatory to have XBOX Live like for example Netflix.

This is where Sony is smart, they make things optional even on the developer’s side of things, allowing features on their platform that are optional to create an experience ideal for the developer(s) creations.

I honestly was going to purchase wipeout anyways so that too helped me with the purchase but I actually started playing a mini that I downloaded that I would of never paid attention to if it wasn't free, it is "field runners" and I actually love it. I know most people would say just play pixel junk monsters and I know that is a great game also because I've played that game for quite a long time also but I really like field runners, for a mini it's fantastic and if it wasn't for playstation plus I would of never played it

If Sony wants to make their service a success, why don't they release a list of upcoming game offerings? How fair is it to the "Plus" members if they buy a game this month, then three months later it is the monthly game? There should be a three month list of upcoming games, dlc, betas, themes, avatars, etc...

They are going to provide shovelware PS1 titles, and minis. The promises for beta invites were made for Qore as well and look how that turned out (i never subscribed to that either).

Sony is going to need to work a bit harder to earn my money on this.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
