agreed. If Nintendo really does claim they combated piracy on DSi successfully then they are EXTREMELY wrong. I know many people with DSi and flashcart.

However you can only play in standard DS mode. You can't play any DSi exclusive games or use DSi exclusive features. The extra DSi stuff is protected but you are right that it isn't fully protected.

If it can be ENCODED, then it can be DECODED...that is, unless it's impossible to decode, like md5 hashes. The reason piracy is ACTUALLY a problem is because of export laws when it comes to encryption. If they really wanted to prevent piracy, they'd fix those laws.

Hope wii and xbox does learn from ps3 this time, adopt the holy fcking blu-ray and eradicate pirates once for all...make them buy games, those cheap asses.

Thinking what nintendo is going to do with the 3DS, since they mentioned games could be installed, lets see how would they fight the fact of people just taking borrowed some friend's games and isntalling them...uala

the blu ray has nothing to do with the ps3's own protection . You realize every blu ray movie is only , along with every ps3 game iso (even if those arent really useful)

The ps3 would be as protected with a dvd player instead if they chose too .

Yea, patents that have recently surfaced have shown that the PS3 is using several keys to stop code from executing. You need 1 to decode the other and so on.

You should try the DSTWO card. Its the only card ever with its own CPU to speed up emulation of snes games and stuff, it also has upgradable firmware like every month also, I can even update my DSI-XL and nothing can stop it. I love it with my 8gig card.

but i think he works for sony.

But Nintendo should know nothing is 100% if its made with a computer it
can be cracked with a computer some how in some shape or form.
i give it 7months :]. but ill have 20 3DS games by then

Dark_Alex was never responsible for hacking the PSP. He just created the custom firmware after it had already been hacked and running Homebrew Enablers. (Not to understate that accomplishment.)

for starters he never said something serious about ps3 , only that once upon a time he was considering it ... the rest is the rumor posting him as a potential savior . He basically gave up on the psp scene , and didnt even really started on the ps3 one

See it this way, if the 3D effect is set to only be used with the Cartridge plugged, then there is not way to pirate these games and give the full experience, yes the 3DS is what make that possible, but the game has to be essentially designed for that, let see if they can learn from all this.

Can't wait to the era were pirate will be eradicate from this dying industry...just look at the psp, we would have had some god gems ported from the DS but seeing as the pirates or user download games more than them buy it, no way that would ever happen.

I dont think sales will plummet

Hardware will be through the roof
but Quality games will still sell.

Also to note
piracy laws are getting tighter
even if the system is hacked the games can have some
sophisticated encryption

lol I give it a week. Hackers are going to be one this like a fat guy on a doughnut, almost every single homebrew developer is going to want to make their own 3D apps. The only realy way to stop piracy is cloud gaming.

if sony came out and said "hey, no one will ever hack ps3 ever" then more people than geohot would be trying to crack it. not to say it would be easy, but im sure it can be done. the only thing that i think makes hacking ps3 not worthwhile, is the file sizes of the games. gow3 is like 38gb's. who wants to sacrifice that much hdd space for one game?

but they kinda did with even legal threats . Let's not pretend there wasnt enough people or they couldnt afford a ps3 to crack it . Many tried and keep trying .

Sometime you just gotta praise a job well done .

And the whole the file are to big is a running gag defense at best . People constantly download pc games of now at least 2 dvds ranging from 9 to 14 gb of data .

Blu ray movies rips average 15 to 20 gb and are popular .

movies are one thing, but who wants to sit while a 38gb file downloads? what you do with your own time is your business, but with my connection, i think i beat gow quicker than i couldve downloaded it. but hey to each his own.

From the start you could play gba hacked games i think.
that lead to using gba cards and the new ds flash cart in connection
to run pirated stuff.
then they saw you didn't need gba cards to bypass anything or something like that if i remember.
its just consumers didn't pirate like they do now
and it was on a low level.
So it didnt gain the recognition and reputation it has now

Hope this one is different, non hackable will mean more and better games and thats a big plus for us. Lets hope they aren't too full of themselves like so many other companies who claimed "un-hackable" software/hardware.

a very large amount of ds owners only bought a ds because it was easy to pirate games for. i cant see the 3ds selling as well as the ds if this happens.

way to give them more incentive. the ps3 has been hack and can play roms.although its much easier to play old game however. you need a blu ray burner and blu ray disks, ect...

anyway, one of the ways they involuntary halter piracy is with the size. a good 2 G mirco sd card could hold what? 15 or so games. however, the 3DS has the max size of 2 Gs. i'd assume most would use about 1 to 15.Gs, so you need to buy a rather expensive micro then.

TBH, you'd want a 16G or more, and those cost from $35-$100, and thats just the micro. you still would need the card itself. those can range from $12 (acekard 2i FTW) up to $50+. so to pirate them, just by guessimating, it would cost you about $60-$90 for the whole thing.

although, if you were looking to pirate, i wouldn't jump on the ship too soon. r4's are well know, however, their quality has drastically gone done. theres r4 clones, and clones of clones. i'd say wait a good 2-3 years before you would buy one.

Protect us consumers against massive amounts of shovelware and I will not hack your handheld. I would say the biggest reason the average hardcore person hacked a DS is because they were tired of spending $30 and getting garbage over and over.

software no matter what kind of software can be minipulated one way or another, or it wouldn't be software. And hardware is always able to be modified..

Saying that it is anti-piracy will only bring the pirates sooner because you said that!
