What a horribly misleading title. You don't want the next gen consoles to release, so the writer picks out the console that will hit the market last as the one to pick on? Since the writer is adamant about the big three not pushing out a console soon, he/she should be happy Sony will wait a bit longer than the other two.

Luckily, we still have a few years till this comes to fruition. Nintendo will probably be the first to market, since the Wii is a last gen console. I figure one or two more years for the next gen Wii (which would make it current gen).

So why is there a article like this? We most likely got a long way to go till a new console and i think now with how much of a big jump we made with this gen people might not fork over the money right away for a new console. The ps3 to me feels like the PS1 all over again pure greatness that we would never want to end.

I don't want a PS4 and a new xbox until 2012, at least let me enjoy the games of 2011 and 2010!

Sony won't be releasing the PS4 next year nor the year after I'm sure there's still too much life in the console. So I would say 2014/15.

Going 'next gen' is only good if you can make a massive leap in technology. If not then theres no reason to even bother. I don't want to shell out $500 to use something thats slighty better. It needs to do something that makes the PS3 look like garbage, which I can't see it happening any time soon.

I'm sorry if this sounds arrogant but I wish poor people would stop trying to ruin gaming for everyone. I really want a new generation of consoles by the end of next year (not that it's likely).

After playing gears 1 and orange box on pc it has made me realize we need new consoles .

I hope the next generation comes out as soon as possible. Why would anyone want to stop technological evolution? We thought PS1 graphics were awesome back in the day, then the PS2 arrived and we all thought it was close to real, photorealistic and all that crap. Then the PS3 came along and that blew our minds again, and so will PS4. In a few years all PS3/360 games will look vintage, full of jaggies and low res, because we will be used to 1080p on all games with AA enabled on all games. Also, physics like in BFBC1/2 will become the norm, and most FPS's will have destructible environments. AI will improve, etc.

Just because improved specs gives better graphics, it doesn't mean that that's all it does. You also get better physichs, AI, more units on screen, better animations/more fluid gameplay, etc.

The only reason I would like to see a PS4 or PS 3.5 is so they can add more AA to games. Maybe use current internal hardware but upgrade a few components to allow this.

Yeah. I agree. Read one quite an interesting article saying that in comparison to 2-3 years ago, look at the current games. For instance how long did hardcore sony fans waited for a DECENT RPG. And that basically dev's are finally just getting to grips with the tech and this is supposedly the time for creation, innovation.

Why wouldn't we want a next gen? There's always something to look forward to. Better graphics, better performance, new features, bigger games, ect...

PC have minor and sometimes but rarely major evolution in technology at all times.

While Consoles just take huge leaps then wait for a long time until PC is far past them, then they take another huge leap and try to catch up with PC again. This speeds of the evolution of PC games and technology for a few years as the average game standards increase a lot which make hardware requirements increase so hardware developers have a higher demand for making better hardware.

This life cycle of PC and consoles has worked for the last past 3 decades. I understand you are new to this gaming culture and don't really understand what's going as you're unintelligent and immature by the looks of the way you write but there is no reason to make ignorant article like this.

Are you saying that the upgrade between PS2 and PS3 wasn't necessary? We are almost getting to the point where the difference between high-end PC gaming and modern consoles are just like the difference between PS2 and PS3.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
