The Witcher 2 will be at Gamescom

It looks like Gamescom is going to be huge this year. We're seeing more and more developers opting to show and announce their games at this European show rather than E3 and the latest on the list is The Witcher 2, sequel to one of my favourite role playing games in recent years...

devs have no choice but to save announcements because both E3&GC are huge events

TheLeprachaun5786d ago

Well GC is only becoming big now. Big in the sense that it will actually have announcements and exclusives, not on attendance. I know GC's attendance was huge last year as well. You've got to remember that this is only the 2nd Gamescom ever, so devs might have been a bit sceptical last year. Regardless, it's going to be a hell of a show.

Gamescom is really really huge, you can say it'a 'Big 3' with E3 and TGS. Developers, companies, and media will need to recognize it.
E3 2010: ~45K visitors and 300 companies, Gamescom 2009: ~245K visitors and 450 comapanies

And it's a great thing The Witcher 2 will be released on all platforms but with some delays in between.

Considering this is a game made by european developers and targeted mostly at the european market I find it absolutely predictable for it to be present at the biggest european gaming convention.

I'm just saying that until recently, E3 and TGS were typically the places you'd find all the major announcements and games. This year, Gamescom could also be placed in that category.

They had it at E3, but for some reason it was just one station tucked away in the back.

You're telling me that a European game studio will have it's game at a European gaming convention!? NO WAY!!

Darkfiber5786d ago

I was just about to say the same thing.

Sweet, the first one was awesome. The second is looking to be even better. Yay new combat system.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit12d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing11d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9211d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
