Gamer Syndrome: In fact, the reverse is true: games across every platform Metacritic tracks have posted higher average scores over the first half of 2010 than they did in the same period in 2009. Seven games so far this year have earned mean review scores of over 90%, including hits like Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2, and Super Mario Galaxy 2, which ranks among the best-reviewed games of all time.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.

If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
But I think EGM did a nice article about Metacritic and the inherent problems of converting scores. For instance a 4 out of 5 is not the same as an 80. Metacritic scores need to be taken with a grain of salt and is a great place to start when thinking of purchasing a game.
i don't even go by game review scores because i don't know if that person just likes giving dislikes for any reason possible or just giving it a high score because its just a well known franchise like Grand Theft Auto.
Some of my best gaming years were spent without having seen or read a single game review.
We all don't have the same exact tastes. So an 8.5 in a review may be a 10 for some and a 5 for others.
Some reviews get too technical when scoring and may leave out the essence or "magic" of a game.
Games I've played in the past that may have been a 10 in my head, if I were to look back and read a review about it, it may have scored an 7 or less because of some specific graphical or gameplay issues the reviewer may have had.
This can create expectations and possibly distort one's enjoyment of a game.
I agree with you, some of them are only very big names and big series and are most hyped games, but that's doesn't make a game better.. I prefer games with art and good story :) those are real good quality games..
