Is the Wii balance board more of the same, or a real innovation? GWN take an in-depth look at the device:
"It's hard not to be cynical but there really hasn't been a fully fledged game for the Wii that has truly proven why the Wii remote is better than a normal controller, and already Nintendo is bringing out another device that will surely be underused.
Of course we only have to look back at the DS to see that it takes developers a good two years before coming to grips with how to take advantage of new features like this, but Nintendo really needs to get on the ball and show developers more than just mini-game collections."

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.
Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

Dash Rendar, Prince Xizor, the Battle of Hoth, and one of the boldest Star Wars multimedia projects ever made. Here’s why Shadows of the Empire still matters.
This game along with Rogue Squadron got me into to Star Wars. The release of special edition VHS Star Wars collection was perfectly times on top of all that. 😆
But it wasn't. Although I do agree that some of the tie-in media, like the novels and comics, were pretty good.
Still, games like Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Rogue Squadron, and the space sims were peak 90s Star Wars. Shadows fell flat because of the abysmal controls and unimaginative levels. And if you wanted to really experience the seedy side of the universe, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 was peak, and it wasn't even close.
Regardless, and much to my dismay, we got the better version thanks to Ubislop in Outlaws, which is what Shadows should've been, albeit at a smaller scale.

Debuting in Season 9, all players can try a beta of The Crew Motorfest’s new ambitious track creator, TrackForge.
"There really hasn't been a fully fledged game for the Wii that has truly proven why the Wii remote is better than a normal controller"
I don't understand why I keep seeing comments like this. I understand that less than a year into the life of the system it may not have a ton of games. I've only bought a few, but to say that no game shows why the wii-mote is better for games is ridiculous. I have been playing RE4 for the past 4 weeks having a great time even though I played it on GC. The controls are perfect for the type of game and the accuracy is incredible. I don't think anyone denies that the controller works well for wii-sports and I even thought that the controls made Sonic a much better game (It was loads better than the other Sonic options out there). I'm not here to just praise Nintendo but sometimes it feels like some of these articles are here just to bash them.
I do think theres bit too many peripherals being made. But you don't need all of them to really enjoy the Wii. I do think the true potentail of the Wii has yet to be seen. However MP3:C certainly looks like its going to lead the way into this potential. And no this system is by far not going down in history as "the console that tried to be too many things for too many people." A bit too ar off the deep end there buddy.
Yea some of these articles do seem to be bashing. This one seems to just have a real pessimistic skeptical view on N's new innovative product. Either way devs have to step it up and start to push their creativity. Lets see what happens in the later half o this year and 08.
