This way they can ensure high quality and a stable experience on both versions. Although I imagine this taking more work than a usual multiplatform game.
It's good to know they're putting a lot of effort into it.

AAACE55718d ago

I wonder what kind of game they will make? My money's on a platforming title!

Happy to see them being fare and committed.

deno5718d ago

Committed to making games for both systems at the same time instead of porting.

Insomniac Games Has To Figure Out How to Break the 'Normal' Gameplay Loop in Marvel's Wolverine

For a mutant who can't die, how will Insomniac Games adjust the healing mechanic in Marvel's Wolverine?

Knocked out is still an option. So are being captured or restrained. Then there's potential for fatigue being a factor or just putting limits on how many times you can come back from healing quickly, making it also something you upgrade throughout the game.

Really not a hard thing to gamify, honestly. Just look at the last wolverine game.

StarcrossedBits149d ago

Yeah, this is very silly. Wolverine's not invincible and he can actually die anyway. This isn't the Superman problem. The 360/PS3 game handled it great.

Deadpool is another example. That guy literally can't die because Death won't take him. But they still figured out a way to make a game around him.

jambola149d ago

Probably just have a health bar, only a tiny minority will probably be bothered by "oh but adanced healing" nonsense
Injustice was successful, people didn't cry about superman being beaten by humans

Juancho51149d ago

Ive seen enough to know that whatever they do will focus heavily on insane combos and dismemberments and all kinds of cool shit we wish we'd seen years ago as wolverine fans.

This is in great hands, all open world games get stale, I'm sure this game is going to be GOTY contender because of the talent behind it, but I hope its doesn't fall into any traps that make the world feel empty or underutilized.

LFG tho!! EXCITED.

Of all the things to worry about, this feels like the lowest ebb. I’d perhaps be more concerned about how they can find enough variety in the combat mechanics to stop a 10-12 hour game from becoming a bit samey, even if they get that main combat gameplay loop to be incredibly satisfying.

Obviously Wolverines claws will remain the main combat method, but thinking about how God of War benefited from (and differentiated itself from predecessor’s) by increased verticality in combat and also ranged attack mechanics, I’d be interested to see what Insomniac can come up with.

Jean Gray will be playable for a portion of the game. That’s how they’re going to spice it up.

Remember the PS3/X360 Wolverine game that was unbelievably gory & badass? if it's anything like that, it'll be just fine.

jaymacx165d ago

Insomniac’s track record is really good. I am not worried about this game. As long as Sony gives them the time they need .

Storm23163d ago

Sure seems liKe they have gotten a ton of time. It's been 4 years since the announcement. Can't wait to see it

InUrFoxHole165d ago

Needs a lot of work from the released footage but if they can get the movement and feel down... thats huge

Tacoboto164d ago

"Needs a lot of work"

Goodness. No shit. It was leaked incomplete footage stolen from them, and years later there still isn't a release date.

cloganart164d ago (Edited 164d ago )

There was no "released footage", it was literally leaked mechanical/dev builds that were testing features.

Consumer eyes were never meant to see that at the end of the day without the context of development.

Ninver163d ago (Edited 163d ago )

I see they've resurrected Einstein over here.

neutralgamer1992164d ago

It's insomniac games they have never made a bad game so we know the game will be quality and all insomniac games are fun.

darthv72164d ago

...yeah we don't talk about Fuse. Or Song of the deep for that matter, even though that one was kinda decent.

neutralgamer1992164d ago

I never played Sony of the deep but as someone who played Fuse it was a good game. Not up to insomniac standards but in no way was it a bad game. It didn't have any bugs or glitches it just was a 7-7.5/10 game from that generation

Knightofelemia164d ago (Edited 164d ago )

It's Wolverine how can you bugger up Wolverine with Insomniac behind the game? I am a little more cautious about the Blade game Microsoft is cooking.

Abnor_Mal164d ago

I feel that Blade will play a lot like Dishonored, not necessarily a bad thing being that it’s Arkane Lyon Studio developing the game I can see them staying in their wheelhouse.
