Final Fantasy Union: "It's been an interesting ride with Square Enix for the last couple of years in regards to their showings at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, aka E3. Back in the day, the company always had an abundance of Japanese games on show. Of course there would be Final Fantasy games, but in addition, titles like Dragon Quest and Star Ocean usually made an appearance. However, in the last couple of years, Square Enix doesn't seem to be as concerned with E3 and many of these Japanese games are shown at the Tokyo Game Show and Jump Festa events instead."

Jason Dietz: "We reveal the past year's best and worst video game publishers (based on their 2025 releases) in the 16th edition of our annual Game Publisher Rankings."
But... but... the garbage-mongers always tell us that Square Enix is in trouble! 😂

Square Enix announced its financial results for the first nine months of the fiscal year, related to the period between April and December 2025.

3D Investment Partners, a major shareholder of Square Enix, issued a 112-page presentation criticizing the company's 'sluggish' revenue and profit margins.
Waaah waaah our profits aren't big enough! I mean, they're still growing and all, but we want it faster and NOW! Waaaah!
I think the main reason is to avoid breaking any promises. For instance Blood of Bahamut was originally planned for worldwide release, as shown by the patent, but because they never formally announced it they were able to just keep quiet.
It's a pity though because BoB looked awesome, as did Cross Treasures, they were both swallowed by bigger SE titles though. DQIX and FFXIII.
I just hope they go back to how they use to be
Last Remnant was horrible, the game actually lagged! I've never played a console game that lagged in my life. Square-Enix greatly ruined the expectations of many gamers with such horrible games like Last Remnant.
Well it looks like TGS is my main sorce for the kind of SE coverage i actually want.
