Theonik5798d ago

The 8800 is way more powerful than the 9600...

Ryudo5798d ago

Don't burst his bubble like that, most people don't understand bigger numbers doesn't always = more powerful card.

Graphics Card Naming 101: The second digit is the most important.

to choose between TERA, FFXIV, Vindictus and Old Republic (Star Wars)

CLOUD19835797d ago

no difficult at all FFXIV is mostly for the ppl that like the previous one new ppl will get bored fast I am sure of this, Vindictus will be free so u can try it when it's out and if u want to play something serious for me who prefer fantasy setting then TERA all the way if u prefer shi-fi then play SW, simple? :)

Well those requirements are not nearly as bad as i thought they were. My laptop could run the game

Djorgo5798d ago

Wow, just wow...

MMO? Look at the minimum reqs!

Theonik5798d ago

Square enix has stated its desire to make the game to last so they are building it with a higher than average minimum requirement.

ProjectVulcan5798d ago (Edited 5798d ago )

Because its a BETA, these are not stated minimum requirements for the finished thing. Only people with good PCs are initially asked into this type of MMO beta usually. Why? Well because the game is not finished obviously, and performance optimisation may not be exactly where they want it, and certainly the drivers for this are not optimised either, as its not out yet!

This is why a lot of betas have questionnaires about your machine before they consider you for a key. Performance is being worked on right until the thing goes out the door for most developers. People that have been in betas early will often tell you how much better the game performs after a few months of tweaks. When APB beta launched late last year, it ran horrible on monster hardware. Now it runs much better even on lower end specs...

But then this is now 2010, and 9600 level performance costs about 50 pounds. In reality, its low end for a gaming computer! 8800GT is faster, and its well over two years old now. 9600GT itself was only mid range when it launched which was also over two years ago....

Theonik5798d ago

I find it curious how i got in the alpha/beta with my 7900Gt. The game runs fine with it too generally.

ProjectVulcan5798d ago (Edited 5798d ago )

You getting in and finding the performance 'generally' acceptable probably indicates the minimum Square are aiming for, after optimisations it will hopefully run just fine all the time. Many games created on this generation of consoles or with console in mind put the minimum bar somewhere around a 7900/X1900 series on PC because thats the rough performance the consoles deliver :-)

Theonik5798d ago

Yep, my main concern is that they don't allow you to change the settings for the game at all. So that causes a lot of issues as i get AA enabled by default, and the game auto setting to 720 or 1080p. Just annoying. nd yeah i know my 7900gt has the rough performance of current gen consoles, that is why i have yet to bother changing it.
*Getting a new Rig altogether anyway, had my current PC since 2006.

Leord5798d ago

Those are like cinematic-quality graphics!

Cogo5798d ago

My PC just died from me looking at those min specs, I think...

Medievaldragon5798d ago

Dang, GeForce 9600 card as minimum requirement? Basically if you got your computer on 2007 or before you are out of luck. Back then I purchased a GeForce 6800GTX for Burning Crusade beta.
