To celebrate the 14th anniversary of Roland Emmerich’s 1996 box office smasher Independence Day, mobile developer Glu is slashing the prices of pretty much all its top games to a bare bones 99c.
Three mobile stores are getting in on the action, with iPhone owners, Android fans, and Palm enthusiasts all getting their fair share of digital bargains. Games include the iPhone’s mighty pixel-art rhythm hit Beat It!, Glyder 2 for Palm, and Modern Warfare 2 on Android.
The sale will start tomorrow, on July 1st, and end on July 6th.

Is the cost of free really worth it?
Infinity Blade and its sequels are among the most envied iPhone exclusives. Designed as a showcase for the mobile version of the Unreal Engine, its unique touchscreen gameplay and incredible visuals made it a flagship title for Apple. Glu Mobile has been keenly interested in capitalizing on this with two Blood & Glory titles that follow Infinity Blade’s template closely. Death Dome represents the publisher’s third attempt at the emerging genre, this time helmed by the capable and experienced Griptonite Games.

Glu Games’ Android and iOS Thanksgiving sale has commenced, and will run through the 25th of November.
There is a 75% off discount on all currency packs, and the majority of Glu’s top games are on sale. There have also been a few updates made for certain games that reflect this most festive season. Deer Hunter Reloaded players will be treated to a bad-ass Pilgrim outfit, while players of the racer Indestructible will have 3 new vehicles to choose from: Cornucopia, The Drumstick and The Gobbler.
