I Blame Gamefly: Mirror’s Edge

Joey of kokugamer.com writes: "If Gamefly decides that they’re going to send me not so great games that I asked for, I suppose I’m really the only one to blame. But I can’t really say its totally my fault, as Gamefly does seem to do a good job of sending me games that are way low on my list as supposed to my first few selections, despite what the availability is. And now I realize that I’m a bit late here, but not much time has passed since the release of Mirrors Edge, and it was always a game I wanted to check out. Luckily (or unluckily I guess), Gamefly was there for the assist."

I don't even use GameFly. I just buy my games directly through Best Buy, Amazon, etc.

Ziriux5802d ago

Wow rich boy huh? Yea i've received games by mistake which I enjoyed.

PoSTedUP5802d ago (Edited 5802d ago )

or maybe he or she just has a job....

i buy my games at stores because i like my collection. i wont even buy a digital distributed game even if its half the price of in stores. call me crazy but i am really anal when it comes to certain things.

Nitrowolf25802d ago

dude i can't buy digital, Physical copies just feel so much more better just because you know that you can't delete it by accident or u forgot your account info (and its been deleted)

RememberThe3575802d ago

If I bought all the games I get from gamefly I'd be spending over $150 a month. On a low income that kind of money is better spent on food and housing. I'd love to be able to buy all my game, don't get me wrong, but I just can't afford to do that.

For me GameFly, is keeping me a gamer.

Keltik825802d ago

I really do enjoy the physical copy much more, it's so much fun to buy your copy and open it, that is what buying stuff is all about!

PoSTedUP5801d ago (Edited 5801d ago )

yeah deff 357.

gamefly is great in that sense. i've spent so much money on my games. but i have them to play whenever i want, and i usually play multiple different games a day. like yesterday i played some more infamous, fear2, online warhawk, battlefieldbc2 singleplayer etc. but thats the kind of gamer i am, everyone is different. today all i played was socom, but still, i played it when i wanted to and didnt have to wait. i guess thats the luxury of spending more money. i would defiantly consider gamefly because there are a lot of great games coming out that i want to try, but will eventually buy when they hit the bargain bin.

Physical copies have resale value but digital is convenient, doesn't take up physical room and for me tends to be cheaper. I also like that all my games are all installed on my PC and I don't have to have the game disc to run.

@Nitro believing that physical is more secure is a misconception, with Steam only inactive accounts containing no games are deleted and once you purchase a game you can download it as many times as you like. I still have my game if my house burns down... do you?

ReservoirDog3165801d ago

I'm actually gonna buy Mirror's Edge when I get paid this week. It's only $12 on amazon.

PoSTedUP5801d ago

it is more convenient, do you know how many times i didnt want to get up and change the disc, lol, leading me to play a PSN game instead XD.

@ reservoir dog- wow thats an amazing deal, thanks for showing me that, + bubs.

Gamefly is ok if you only keep a few games in your q.

On a side note i loved Mirror's Edge.... I mean do all game in FP have to be shooters... Fuck

kneon5801d ago

I loved mirrors edge as well and it really needed to be in first person. If it were in third person it wouldn't have been nearly as good or as unique. And yes I really did feel more immersed in the environment because of the first person view point.

dgroundwater5801d ago

I also loved ME. It sounds elitist, but I think the people who had trouble with this game were probably not that good. I found that with practice that any control issues just melted away.

Lombax5801d ago

ME is a hardcore platformer. I loved every second of it. The author (bitcher) of this article should just stick to playing Mario.

Imperator5802d ago

I only buy the good games, or the ones I'm really interested in. I use gamefly for everything. This week I got Transformers, Prince of Persia, and Singularity. I wouldn't buy those games, but thanks to gamefly I was able to fully play them. And for only 30 bucks a month.

I have a GameFly account, the biggest problem for me is remembering to update my queue in time.

Also, Mirror's Edge made me nauseous.

KokuMicah5802d ago

Gotta love the Gamefly queue.

Nitrowolf25802d ago

One of my biggest one is shipping
and Not only that but there so called "fast Shipping" or what ever where when you put it in the mail and they know it and can send your game before they recive it is BS, only worked twice for me. There shipping is slow, however i do like the fact when i have one game out and the other game is still being selected i can place a game that hasn't released yet on top (and say it releases tomorrow) i will get it right away shipped out to me.

RememberThe3575802d ago

That is really the only knock I have on them. They have a great collection of games and their "Keep" feature has saved me a lot of money in the past.

Nitrowolf25802d ago

dude i wish they had Netflix shipping, then it would totally be worth it.
Netflix takes about 3 days, i get the movie. And when i am done i return it, the next day they have it and either they process the next one that day or the next, but the following day i have another movie in my box.
For some reason its takes about a week after you sent in your game for gamefly, usually return game on a monday and get it either the next week on a monday or a tuesday.
