I still feel that MGS3 is the best in the series followed by MGS1

raztad5809d ago

I'm playing through the game and its brilliant. MGS3 was amazing but if I had to pick between both I'd pick MGS:PW easily. It's a more diverse, complete experience.

Dont agree with that 8 btw, as a PSP game PW is a solid 10/10 GoTY candidate. As a MGS game its a solid 9.5/10 IMO.

"With such a poor outing with Metal Gear Solid 4 and Portable Ops" Wow, I didnt see that coming. The guy called MGS4 POOR.

I can't wait for the Rising series, it will be the perfect follow up to Snake's story!

I am trying to figure out. Is it really like a MGS5? And how is co-op? In fact, does is continue the story, or what? Or is it a prequel? I always got lost in the MGS saga. Just bring me Rising.

This takes place before the Outer Heaven Rising, which is when Solid Snake made his debut. You play as Big Boss who is on a quest to find out whether his mentor,The Boss, is still alive or not (At least I think so from what I've read.) It is a prequel to the "main" storyline, but a sequel to MGS3 and Portable Ops.

Yes, it's Metal Gear Solid 5 in all but name. It's the bridge between Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear, it basically discounts Portable Ops from canon from what I can tell, probably due to it retconning established canon in later games by not being a Kojima game.

So, here's the current time line:

Metal Gear Solid 3 - (Portable Ops) - Peace Walker - Metal Gear - Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake - Metal Gear Solid - Metal Gear Solid 2 - Metal Gear Solid 4

Portable Ops in brackets because of its, now, dubious place in history of events.

I really like it. There's so much content, I rarely have that feeling of waiting twenty minutes to play five. That said, I dislike how they simplified the stealth and the CQC. Taking out crawling was completely unnecessary and dumbed things down a bit too much. And why can't I slit people's throats anymore? Stupid T rating...

some really good games on that list. some of my favorites (not on the list) are Metal Slug XX, ultimate Ghosts & Goblins, Gradius Collection, Motorstorm Arctic Edge and Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters.

Metal Slug XX is surprisingly good.

I get that The Warriors is technically a PS2 game ported over, but damn it's amazing on the PSP

Dark Mirror was the best. Multiplayer and single player was fantastic

The Out of Place Artifact - A Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Retrospective

VGChartz's Issa Maki: "Even to fans, the thought that a T-rated game could rank as the greatest is virtually unthinkable; how could the best Metal Gear possibly be a handheld title on a system less powerful than a PlayStation 2? Because it had to be – necessity is the mother of invention. Not only is this a full-fledged Metal Gear, the fresh spin on the gameplay draws from several sources outside of its wheelhouse. Peace Walker somehow manages to be less like its predecessor, Portable Ops, and more akin to Metal Gear Solid V. What boggles the mind is that it would be over five years before The Phantom Pain would release, an entire generation later."
