CwG says in one section, "I also find it interesting that from the data collected, as of June 21, Nintendo has made approximately $1,826,984 off of the three Donkey Kong Country games on the Virtual Console."

I wish nintendo would stop recycling it's games and come up with something new.

Who over there is sitting at the conference table and saying hey lets remake snes games but with better graphics.
Then everybody else at the table is like hey yeah that's safe and people are tools so they'll totally buy it. Needs to be beat with a wrench.
Nostalgia sells I guess.

Nintendo = one trick pony.

I'm not saying the games aren't good I'm just saying nintendo has poor business strategy when it comes to making games.

I was hoping for a NEW IP, in the FPS genre from Nintendo at E3.
Not Goldeneye or Conduit 2, but a First Party FPS game that is new.

Nintendo hasn't developed/published its own FPS game with fully customizable controls or WM+.

1. Animation is better than 99,99% of sidescrolled platform games released in 2020-2024
Just look at the shitty, clunky and downright amateur animations in games being made now.
2. Graphics still look better on CRT or 4K TV via retrotink or proper CRT filter, compared to 90% platform games released in 2024. It has a nice style. It was one of its kind. Now 99% of indie games in the genre look the same, generic, ugly, infantile, sterile, "paper like" or with "realistic" vibe which only makes things dull, washed out and ugly.
3. The gameplay and polish is on a different level.
4. We don't even have clear motion in gaming anymore. You can see HIGHER RESOLUTION of the image in this 30 year old game than when you play new shit on 4K TV without BFI/backlight strobing
5. The game doesn't put me off with infantile design. This game was for everyone, with respect to male adult gamers, unlike it is now, where we get a big middle finger.
6. Music. I don't think I even need to type anything here. Modern games will either give you generic crap, or some melanholic sad pianos or japaneese pop vibes (to the delight of the John from Digital Foundry ;) )

And lastly:
Let me just remind you: This game ran on a console equipped with 256KB of RAM.

I remember seeing DKC advertisement (or was it just gamplay being showd on some gaming related TV progam? Not sure) on TV in 1994. I was blown away. I couldn't believe my eyes and I wanted this game so badly.
30 years later I want games ON THIS LEVEL as badly as I wanted to play DKC back then. But back then, I only needed a few years until emulators showed up (My country didn't have Nintendo distribution in SNES times). This time I'm waiting more already.

Highest quality side scrolled platform game genre regressed so badly. :(
There's like 1 very good game per 3-5 years, if you don't like infantilism, stealth and sad/horror games. Or anime, like what they did to Prince of Persia in its newest side scrolled installment (God.. whyy....:( )
