Rumors: New Bionic Commando, And Four RPGs From Level 5

The latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly's Quartermann rumor mill is coming with a fresh set of rumors to peruse. The juiciest hearsay is that Capcom's Bionic Commando, once rumored to be getting the remake treatment, is now being developed as a full-fledged installment for the PlayStation Network.

Dark Cloud developer Level 5, whose current PlayStation 3 project White Knight Story has been outside of the limelight since wowing us with footage from last year's Tokyo Game Show, is rumored to be announcing four new RPGs at this year's TGS in September. And they're not necessarily PS3 games, either

The arcade version and also the Nes version were both classics. And new RPGs are always a welcome thing.

4? How big is this studio? I would rather have 2 good ones than 4 bad ones. Anyway, I hope they can pull it off.

Oh man, BC brings back good NES memories!:)

I think the c64 version was the best, it had much bigger levels and better music. The grappling hook rocked.

Because PS3 needs an exclusive Western RPG. PS3 has no exclusive Western RPG in the pipeline that I know of.

People like me love Western RPGs but absolutely cannot stomach Japanese RPGs.

Xbox 360 has quite a few exclusive Western RPGs: Mass Effect, Too Human, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements, Dungeon Hero, Fable 2, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, and Two Worlds.

But I can't think of one Western RPG for PS3. Does anyone know any?

so your the only person i know of right now who likes western rpgs . oh wait, do u like it over japanese rpgs. coz there 10X better

Oblivion?
Although thats not exclusive.

But you are correct JRPGs are an acquired taste.
My favorite JRPG was Zoids on the GBA
The world needs more Zoids games.

In recent years I think western rpg's have gotten better than the eastern ones. They are more innovative and usually richer in content. I also enjoy the art direction and story plots better, fed up with pink hair, phoenix drops and fat sidekicks that are always searching for something. I'm more of a broadsword, fire & brimstone type of guy lol!

I guess nobody likes Biowares RPGs. You know Oblivion, Morrowind, KOTOR, a lot of Game of the Year winners.

Not to mention a game called World of Warcraft.....You know pretty much the most popular online RPG ever created.

InMyOpinion6861d ago

You are confusing Bethesda with Bioware I think.

Bethesda - Oblivion, Morrowind etc.

Bioware - Baldurs Gate, Kotor, Kotor 2, Jade Empire, Mass Effect etc.

Personally, they make the kind of rpg's I enjoy the most.

gotta love the rpgs! need some on ps3 right now kinda lacking

btw

is level 5 a 1st party studio for sony?

Sevir046861d ago

i think they have done like 1 or 2 titles on the gamecube as well. i think that sony funds them stuff all the time so people just assume that they are a first party studio. they are much like Insomniac and factor 5. independent ones that choose who they develop for. which is cool

Phantom_Lee6861d ago

they dont have any Gamecube title...but they have DS titles...(who doesnt...)

[Gaming Evolution] White Knight Chronicles: International Edition Review

Castle walls crumble in the flaming night sky- there is chaos, panic, and murder. A black horned knight stalks the princess and all that stands in his way is a young man who works at a winery and his generic customizable friend who happened to get hired on the wrong day… White Knight Chronicles has finally arrived!

The much anticipated White Knight Chronicles has finally been released- not with a bang, but with a whimper. I previously commented on various aspects of the game that deserved note- things that could have been different, but made no such bold statements as "biggest disappointment of 2010" like some reviewers have. I personally believe White Knight Chronicles to be a decent JRPG with a fun and intuitive online system and great potential for future titles. Without further adieu- into the gritty details!
