Videogameszone is checking prices for Move, Kinect and Wii. They included bundles and seperate controllers for a second player. While you have to buy a second controller for PlayStation Move and Wii, you must not for Kinect.

In order to play any Move game that comes out, you will need a Playstation Eye, two Move controllers and a sub controller. That's $170. Rippppp

Gr815811d ago

The funny thing here is PS3 dropped the price 100$ last year and now if you want a Move PS3 bundle, Sony is right back to the drawing board.

The new 199$ Bundle Nintendo has out now is a better value. With Motion Controls out the box. Add on tech has a pretty bad history, sales wise.

I foresee a flop(s) with these add ons as well.

Death24945811d ago (Edited 5811d ago )

peripherals don't sell themselves. What sells them, are the content that supports them. How many hardcore games did Microsoft show for Kinect? Uhh, that's right i remember, zero. Meanwhile, Sony showed 4 hardcore games at E3.
(games)
Resident Evil 5
LBP2
Heavy Rain
Socom4

Who said you have to buy two Move controllers to play it? Who said you have to purchase the Nav controller? Wow fanboys, really!?

Off Topic: I'm still getting new Xbox 360 slim, that thing looks sick

syanara5810d ago

wo said you are forced to buy the whole Move Package all at once? the way I see it to start out for $100 isnt bad and what a lot of people are forgetting is that you get the Playstation Eye camera as well. you can USE THAT playstation eye camera for stuff other than the move. I love how sony gives you a huge value deal here and people still rip on them for it being too much. and also the games themselves are cheaper move only games are $40 and Kinect gamers are $60 so after x amount of games you have more on the Move for less.

HolyOrangeCows5810d ago (Edited 5810d ago )

No you need a Move controller and PS Eye = $90.
You can use your SIXAXIS/DS3 for the nav.
And unless you're going to play Lights Out (which isn't even a launch title), you don't need two move controllers.

Oner5810d ago (Edited 5810d ago )

I look at it this way, it's not my responsibility to pay for others experience. Especially if I am just one person who plays it 99% of the time.

Wii
Console ~ $200
Memory/SD Card/HDD ~ $20
Wii Motion Plus ~ $25
Charger (because replacement batteries cost lots of money) ~ $25
Component Cable (for 480p) ~ $20
Game ~ Included (Wii Sports) but cost of games are usually $50
WiFi ~ Included

Total = $290

PS3
Console ~ $300
Move Bundle (PS Eye, Move, Game) ~ $100
OPTIONAL Move Nav Controller ~ $30
HDMI ~ Included as reported with new purchase OR if not $5
Game ~ Included (Sports Champions a $40 game) and Move games are priced at $40
Charger ~ Not needed
Memory SD Card/HDD ~ Included
WiFi ~ Included

Total = $430 OR $435 if you buy a PS3 without a HDMI but need one (and I left in the Nav Controller Price to be fair even though it is technically OPTIONAL)

360
NEW "S" Console ~ $300
Memory/SD Card/HDD ~ Included
Kinect ~ $150
LIVE! for only 1 year for full functionality ~ $50 (+ cost over time?)
Charge & Play (because replacement batteries cost lots of money) ~ $20
Game ~ Included? (To Be Determined)
WiFi ~ Included
HDMI ~ $5

Total = $525

This I believe is a fair comparison and more relative to a real world purchase that most people would agree with for a few reasons ~

1) If you want the most "accurate" experience you need the Wii Motion Plus
2) There is no point in saying "Bu, Buh, But teh 360 Arcade is cheaper!" because the cost for additional items that are basically a necessity (HDD since even updates take up the internal space which makes Kinect incompatible, WiFi & etc) would increase the ultimate bottom line thus being a WORSE example and an unfair/improper comparision
3) You have to include LIVE! because what is the point of having a console for gaming if it does not have the full functionality available (online gaming etc)
4) If you want to add additional controllers to the cost of the Wii & PS3 Move it becomes relative to each other ~ Wii Remote + Motion Plus Bundle & Nun-chuck = $75 and an additional Move + Sub Controller = $80 (only a difference of 5 buck compared to each other)....But like I said it is not mine (nor your own) responsibility for others experience on my/your own dime.

This is a fair and I believe average example of what most purchasers would specifically "need" and what most would end up buying to have the best overall experience for 1 person with not much of an additional cost for a second controller option for the Wii & PS3 as described in #4 above.

N4g_null5809d ago

To every one saying you can use half of a sixaxis to replace the nav go and try holding half of that controller for 2 hours and see how your hand feels,

Awkward huh? You didn't think 2 pounds could get that heavy right LOL and that crap you have in your hand is pure sony, it only does every thing right?

j/k

Yet this is how people will see the set ups. Hey but I will point out that girls pay
100~ for the balance board which can be simulated by kinect yet it's not as laggy.
then 250 foor the wii so that is close to $300 for the wii if you look at that.

Basicly the casuals as you guys call them will spend more on gaming if it is what they want but many are already sold on the wii.

One problem that the HD gamers will run into is they don't make good sales people. They talk about tech rather than fun. Plus I think the new casuals are sort of nintendo fanboys now and they don't like MS and SONY because of gears of war and god of war looking like they where made by blood thristy vampires.

MS and SONY have ruined their image to every one with any parenting skills. The first thing people are going to ask is where is the mario game, people are waiting SONY and MS, and if you put LBP up there then you will see a lot of people returning their PS3, it is not the same or even on par.

The Sub controller is not needed at all. You can use your DualShock3 Controller's left analog stick if you don't want to purchase the Nav controller. You don't have to buy 2 move controllers either.

PS Eye: $40
PS Move: $50
Navigation Controller: (optional)
2nd Move controller: (again, optional)
Total package to play move = $90.00 MSRP

I really loathe people who depict things falsely and distort the facts.

mrcash5811d ago

while that may be true, using your dualshock and the wand, just doesnt seem all that practical or comfortable. While the nav cont is optional, that is the ideal set up. These devices seem to be aimed at the casual audience, considering that assumption, one controller will not suffice and buying enough for two people or more puts it at quite a steep price.
I wont be buying any of those devices, the pricing for all of them is ridiculous.

OSU_Gamer5811d ago (Edited 5811d ago )

@Death

You are the blind "noob" who thinks that it is practical to hold a DS3 in ONE hand to replicate the navigational controller.

And of course a second controller is options, but IF (keyword) you want to play with someone else its instantly more expensive than Kinect, which supports 4 players. Thats also assuming you don't make your guests try and hold a DS3 in one hand LOL.

I plan on getting MOVE, and I plan on getting the navigational controller, but stop trying to call people out for depicting things falsly, when you are the one who is molding the truth to your advantage.

ryuzu5810d ago (Edited 5810d ago )

Kinect only support 2 player gaming if you want the Skeletal modelling that is supposed to be its selling point.

If you want more than 2 - too bad it seems - there's no way to have multiple Kinects on the same console.

Personally, I spend 99% of my game time alone either playing online or single player, soooo for me PS Move looks pretty decent, and Kinect would be overkill.

Still the fundamental point is, Kinect doesn't work as advertised at all, so any money for it is too much. PS Move depends on the value you attach to the control method - having played the Wii, if PS Move is an improved version of that I'm in.

Microsoft Xbox 3605810d ago

Have you guys tried holding a DS3/Sixaxis with one hand? I already tried the move and navi combo here in BB Cali. I'd say it's just as comfortable as holding the navi controller. The Sixaxis practically weighs next to nothing and the DS3 is just a tad bit heavier. So you'll be fine without a Navigation controller.

Death24945810d ago

No, i'm not molding the facts to support my claim. To play Move games, you only NEED a PsEye and one Move. IF you would like more immersion then you can buy a 2nd Move controller. Sony already stated this back at GDC. You can still play "Move" games with only one controller. As for the Nav controller, it still isn't needed to play games like Socom4. Yes, it feels better but if you don't buy it you can still use the DS3 to play. That's why i said Nav and 2nd controller are both optional.

Dee_915810d ago

i came up with $210 for 2 moves and 2 subs and 1 eye..
Move bundle $100+sub=$130
$130+$30 (sub#2)=$160+50(move#2)=$210

im not saying thats cheap but ..if my roommate wants to play move with me .. he gonna have to buy his own lol
more than likely he will

Ult iMate5810d ago (Edited 5810d ago )

The only thing there is that Move is for _hardcore_ games and not for party casual staff. So you need only a Move+sub+PSeye for yourself (two Moves are for casual crap, like sports mini-games).

I really cannot believe people are trying to justify the cost of Kinect. First of all you really don't need 2 move controllers? it's not mandatory, secondly you don't need a sub controller either, you can use the normal ps3 controller. Dumb I know but atleast there is an option.
& you know what the saddest thing is? the same people that were getting annoyed when people would compare ps3 cost value versus 360 cost value (wifi, no bluray, + on going live cost) are now defending Kinect cost with the exact same logic.
Lastly Kinect is just not a viable platform for hardcore games. The sooner we realize this the sooner we can all go along our merry ways.

mrcash5811d ago

I definitely agree with you, lets pretend to drive a car, or shoot with an imaginary gun, they have an interesting idea but they should have integrated a control to the package. The move has the most potential given that it's a more advanced version of the wii, we'll see how it goes.

rwarner1745811d ago

If they introduced a controller it would of escalated the cost. I really think at somepoint microsoft is going to have to release at least a playstation navigation like controller.

Jeff2575811d ago

In the end it will be the games you can play with either that will determine how well they do. Move games right now are listed at 39.99 while the Kinect games are listed at 59.99. When people are looking at new hardware and controllers they generally look at what games they can play and a big factor of that will also be the price. I cant see Kinect if it is 149.99 and having 59.99 games attracting the Wii audience. Move having a similar control style and better pricing for games may end up attracting them though.

ReBurn5811d ago

Please, people have been using stupid pricewars comparison lists like this for years to try to justify their fanboy position. Always baking in the cost of some nice to have, but not necessary, peripheral or service to say that their console has the better price.

But you know what? None of that stuff matters. There are plenty of people who are just fine without wifi or Xbox Live on their 360's because they don't play online. There are plenty of people who didn't buy a DualShock 3 controller because their Sixaxis was just fine the way it was. There are Wii owners who haven't purchased Wii MotionPlus because it isn't compelling for them.

Everyone has their own sense of value and they aren't going to see it like someone else. None of this motion crap is mandatory for 360 or PS3, so there's no sense in playing pricewars and including it.

In order to play any Kinect game that comes out you will need to pay $5676. See how I can make up numbers too? You can pay $99.99 and play all but 1 Move game that we know about. You get the Move, PS Eye, and game for $99.99. You have to pay $150 for to play ANY and ALL Kinect games. Then you have to pay $60 per game, which is $20 more than the Move games.

Downtown boogey5810d ago

In Europe, it's 60€ for Move and PS Eye + 40€ for another move + 30€ for the optional (and ridiculously overpriced piece of plain plastic) Navigation Controller which amounts to = 130€. I'm not getting the Nav controller so that's just 100€ for me to play everything.

jkhan don't waste your breath. I have said the same thing a thousand times but no one listens. They only hear what they want to hear

rwarner1745811d ago

Things cost money? Who knew?

Winkle925811d ago

Eh who really cares about the price? People are going to buy the motion control for their system. I doubt the difference is big enough that anyone would actually go out and buy a whole new console and its motion controller counterpart just so they could play Move or Kinect. The prices are close enough that twenty or thirty dollars is not going to decide the console war.

ReBurn5811d ago

Yep. All of this stuff is expensive. Especially when you're buying for more than one player. Nobody knows for sure how much Kinect is really going to cost since it hasn't been formally announced yet. But if the current rumors hold true Microsoft is in a different position considering you don't have to spend more money with each player that you add. You can't say that about Wii or Move.

In the end, though, it doesn't matter. I'm not sure that either Kinect or Move are going to catch on. I think they're both going to struggle a bit considering the Wii's install base, but I could be wrong. There's some strong software support for Wii and Move already announced. Not so much for Kinect.

PlayStation Move Controller Used to Perform Surgery on a Pig That Was 5,780 Miles Away

A group of surgeons made headlines after they managed to perform an endoscopic procedure on a pig located in Hong Kong by using PlayStation controllers. It involved the use of a PS5 DualSense controller as well as a PlayStation Move controller.

There is at least a few good jokes that could come from that title

Yet another powerful device Sony gave up supporting. KZ3 move was one of the best motion controller implementation ever

just_looken581d ago

Right the ps move was awesome i have the gun thing from killzone still.

Relientk77582d ago

That's really cool. It's crazy something like that is possible with gaming controllers 1000's of miles away.
