Who has time to watch that show, hell I rather the "Price is right" then the today show. I'm usually at work so I wonder who watches the darn show.

Good advice from the tech guy, but he could have mentioned that they are comming out with the "Falcon" 360 to fix the problems. (That's what I'm waiting for).

I agree that this could affect the parent-factor in game buying. IF a machine breaks on a kid, who has to call for the RMA and deal with shipping? The parent, not the kid. They'll think about that.

He let everyone know that Microsoft issued a 3 year warranty extension amounting to $1 billion. The “tech guru” indicated that is is the same as a recall without the legal issues surrounding an actual recall.

Who watches the today show? The today show demographic does not consists of hardcore gamers just little billy's mommy. I look at it this way less kids in Halo 3.

OH boy, this is gonna affect the Xbox quite a bit. The people that watch these shows are stay at home moms, or people who work night or afternoon shifts. That's not a good thing for the holidays. As kids will be forced to get a PS3 or a Wii, or both.

everything that was said is COMPLETELY true (maybe not the graphics bit), the xbox has a fault which microsoft has admitting knowing since launch and havent bothered fixing, a recall would give the so much bad press that they use their spin doctor to make it sound like microsoft 'cares' for its customers by extending warrenty, if this was true they would have recalled the product on day one, fixed any issues and then re-release with a 3 year warrenty!

its not irticales and shows like this that are pushing people away from the xbox and towards the ps3/wii, its microsofts! i guess MS have had a good run of things for the last few years, but everything comes to an end.....

well i doubt they have as much power as oprah but this has got to hurt xbox sales. I know if my mom or my girlfriend wanted to buy me a game she wouldnt buy me a 360 after listening to that. Msoft needs to get their act together. I really don't see their plan to roll out the 65nm chips considering they are still manufacturing faulty 360's to date under the disguise of a 3 yr warranty. I hate dealing with customer service and i hate to have my sh1t break on me. Don't want to be sending my 360 in for repairs on a regular basis just because i have a 3 yr warranty. I hope Msoft has a significant plan because i doubt that will work out for most ppl. Word of mouth travels fast and no one is willing to buy a faulty console.

Buddy MS should have globaly recalled the 360 and replaced it. Truth is you can still see ROD after 3 years and that because of the known hardware flaw. As of now every 360 has it, every 360 can potentially drop a ROD on you. Such a product needs a global recall buddy and not just an extended warranty. BTW why does MS need so long to get this hardware flaw out of the 360? Almoust 2 years on the market, but a sh1t happened, that's simply ridiculous.

I have three 360's, two broke... but my Wii ALSO broke. My PS3 works except for a few software glitches here and there. But I wouldn't advise anyone to actually BUY a PS3 until some games come out for it. It just sits underneath my TV waiting for something other than a new BLU-Ray movie.

You buddy, you are insane. Sony ignored the disc read errors? They settled down the lawsuits and and released later an improved version without such issues. BTW it's simply ridiculous to even compare the PS2 disc read errors with 360's ROD. The failure rates are not comparable, it's not even close. In case you didn't know, 360 is the most unreliable console in history and one of the most unreliable electronic devices in history. Mostly such products were globaly recalled or they totally flopped. Will this happen with 360? Probably not as the 360 has a pretty blind fanbase and they can do what ever they want with them. Tripple the price for a hdd anyone? Haha and the xbots are taking it, no problem...it's surely not without a reason people call them xbots :)

I bet despite this press Halo 3 outsells any game this year. Midnight launches are only for the Big games. And every single halo game 1 and 2 launched at midnight. Halo 3 will not be an exception.

As much as I like the x360 it's failure ratio is news worthy. I mean if there is a product on the market that breaks allot people should know. Take iPhone it was out like 3 weeks and there were major headlines in the papers in Chicago about massive complaints from customers. TO be honest I think MS is kinda getting away with murder a bit. If an automobile had a 20-30% defective part in it the car would be recalled. Look at the Sony batteries in the notebooks I don't know what that failure ratio was but I do not recall hearing 2 million laptops blew up. Granted the x360 problem is not life threatening but people should know whats out there. The only affect this will have though is if mommy wants to buy tommy a video game console she is probably going to shy away because I would bet a vast majority of the viewers are older females. Most x360 owners are adults who buy their own systems much like PS3. If this story was about Wii OH!, that would be interesting.

Honestly, I'm surprised this didn't start happening a long time ago. These hardware problems didn't pop up out of nowhere, they've been consistent since launch. That's what's really upsetting about the whole situation to me. To know that Microsoft had a free ride on all of these problems for so long, yet did nothing about it. This NEEDS to happen apparently, because Microsoft is not going to fix it on their own.

I can't understand why they weren't sued a year ago over these issues. It baffles me that consumers would go out and buy another 360 after their's broke out of warranty. That's, quite frankly, just bending over and taking it.

but then I realized he's right. I own a 360 and love it, and have no problems with it. However, I've been wanting to get a 2nd one for a while now (to play linked games with the wife and friends), but I won't until they fix the problems with the Falcon model. This may piss some people off, but this guy is doing his job by warning consumers of a problem with the current 360's hardware, a problem, I may add, that Microsoft has admitted to.

People that get lucky will get lucky with those xbots 260 , but if they feel like returning it for reapair and let it sit at the service department for 4 - 6 weeks, if thats makes them happy so be it. No sense in arguing . I work in service people dont mind paying extra for electronics, what they hate is when it breaks down on them. there stuff thats been sitting here for 2 months. this is hilarious. my xbox 360 has been great since launch day. i have an original. my ps3 blu-ray drive died within the first week. my wii is fine though. personally buy what u wanna buy. every console has problems. everything in the universe has lemons. its a fact. plus ps3 more powerful? processor yes. but graphics r exactly the same. only thing better than ps3 and 360 is the almighty pc. pc's will always have the better graphical power. another 10 years. we wont have gaming "consoles" itll be a cheap computer built for games. wait its already happeneing. but who cares gaming is gaming. i love my games no matter what they r on

Thats really wrong for the today to say sa not to buy the 360 till the end of the year. If Microsoft see's this then I would expect a letter of dislike for what they said or maybe sometype of legal action for letting there mouths run to far on the today show.

Any time some one asks me about buying a 360 I tell them about the RROD issues and the warranty 1st. It is only fair. Most people only pay attention to what I say about the games and XBL anyway.

At this point this issue is not going to turn people away. I'm also glad it is out in the open for the public to take notice off. People tend to be less afraid of the truth. If they know the chances of getting a faulty 360 this year is much lower than last year and along with that you get a free warranty people will shrug off the media.

The 360 is more popular for it games and it has proven to be one of the best consoles on the market. That is all you need.

No where in the segment do they say don't buy an xbox360. So for someone to say the today show is saying not to buy one they would be wrong. By pointing out a flaw and the companies fix to said flawed console, is not a "Don't buy this console."So that would be someone's opinion on what the Today Show was saying. So the Title for the article should be more like: "Drunk Pandas watches the Today Show, and thinks that he should not buy an XBOX360"

If what everybody is saying is true, that soccer mom's are the ones watching the today show, than hopefully all these soccer moms will buy their little 12 yr olds something other than a 360. There are more than enough annoying 12 yr olds on Xbox Live and I only think its fair for PS3 and Wii owners to share in our pain.

An interesting thing I noticed when they interview the woman. When the haters were trying to kill off PS3 before it was released they said, no one was going to buy it for that price. It was $200 more. The woman confirmed something I have always thought. Kid dont care about the price. They just want what they want. And she said it herself. She didn't know which one to get. The kid basically just tells the parent and most likely gets what they want or else its tantrum city which seems to be the way with kids nowadays since they dont respect adults anymore and you cant publicly flog (disipline) them.

Probably my theory helps the Wii alot because everyone thinks it looks cool when they first see it and its cheap so little Johnny gets a Wii but then it doesn't harm PS3 to much either because when the kid decides they want a real console (either a Ps3 or an Xbox) price is not a factor to them and parents might b*tch and moan a little, but pretty much do what there kids want in the end.
