Not necessarily.

When cinema was in its infancy, right around the time D.W. Griffith and Eisenstein were showing the world what editing, close-ups, and a moving camera could do, suddenly sound appeared on the scene. What happened next arguably set cinematography back twenty years: the camera was put into a soundproof box which made it bigger, heavier and practically impossible to move.

Ask any cinematographer and they'll tell you that at the time, the addition of sound was a horrible mistake because filmmakers weren't ready for it yet and it forced them to focus on something unessential to their stories. If sound had been delayed, movies and their visual language would have evolved much more quickly and developed many more tools. Instead, everything became more expensive, more time consuming, and much more bland.

Bottom line. If you don't want, like it, or are just going to bitch about it? Yah don't have to use it! It's not like Sony is forcing this down your throats. 3D games will support both standard hi def and 3D.

For me personally, any upgrade that adds to immersion is an upgrade I have to have!

I will have a 3D display with in the next 4 to 8 weeks. I am waiting until I get a chance to view them all and do some more research. For me 3D is a no brainer. I have a separate bank account just for my electronics and gaming addiction and I haven't made any serious upgrades for the past year. I am ready to pounce. I just have to way the pros and cons then pull the trigger.

You can see it now. There are over 200+ titles for the PC for 3D gaming at 60fps in full 1080p. Depending on the game 3D is great

things like 3D gaming are exciting. It's only the partialized journalists/bloggers and kiddy fanboys who can only upgrade when their parents allow them to that complain about things like 3D gaming and who try to marginize it to make themselves feel like they aren't losing out on anything.

this is the 1st gen of consoles where people actually get made when you want new things. people didn't want hd to take off, they didn't want blu ray to take off and now they don't want 3d to take off. what is is even funnier is none of these things take way from games they just improve them also none are forced on you(execpt blu ray which comes with the console so it isn't a problem).

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted
