I love how nobody questions the effect it has on your eyes and brain, only that it "looks kinda neat". I give it a few years before the "my son has detached retinas because he plays his Nintendo 3DS for 7 hours a day then watched 4 hours of 3D tv" lawsuits start coming. It's shocking that no company has done research on the long term affects when it's clearly evident that it messes up your brain, especially in children. You know that kid you made fun of in school cause he was crosseyed when you were a kid? We'll have a whole generation of those with f*cked up brains cause their brain never developed properly. I say to hell with 3D. It wont last, especially with Nintendo paving the way with "child friendly 3D" consoles and games. Everyone's gonna be crying 5 years from now when their kids are all retarded.

There have been countless things throughout history (asbestos, mercury, DDT, the list goes on) that were deemed safe, and no one realized the effects until 40 years later. Hell, ask your parents, I bet they were given mercury to play with their bare hands in science class.

3D is coming whether we like it or not.

Just distractions so there is less effort required for making a good game.

3D is here to stay because the companies are pushing it. Creating a "need" where none exists. To me it is a gimmick. Adds nothing to the movie experience. Just my opinion. Now with games who knows. The level of interactivity may lend itself well to 3D.

Overall the 3D effect is weak in my opinion. Adding a bit of depth to the picture but no real value.

When they are just above 1 grand. I'm not as rich as you people! :(

Too early and too expensive for 3D yet. Need to wait a generation or so before going diving into it imo.

Sony is going to make Music Videos in 3D.
Culturally, 3D is a Lock.
Just way too many arms of the Beast to deal with.

Now you know why Sony was holding back with thier marketing of the ps3 for 3 years.

I honestly don't care for it. Watching a 3D movie at the theater is one thing but I don't care for it at home and even less for gaming. 3D may be coming but that doesn't mean you HAVE to use/get it.

3D is nothing new, it's been around for centuries but only now being made for use at home. The entertainment industry is doing a good job at making people believe that this is the future. Don't believe the hype...it's not!

Still too expensive, overpriced for the cost of manufacturing.

I prefer to have the option anyway so yeah, in favour of 3D, and I'll be getting a high range Sony this holidays.

Some people still will argue the difference between native 3D and upconverted 2D, like it happened with the HD wars not very long ago. And guess what? Native 3D looks miles better, of course.Yet some collective will say otherwise.

3D is here to stay and i'll jump on soon as its standard without glasses.

If the picture quality reaches the PQ of HDTV plasmas today and I wouldnt get headaches from it then I'll jump the 3d boat. Until then not gonna happen.

Killzone 3 is worth it.
3DTVs aren't just 3D. You can switch back to HDTV with a press of a button.
I think alot of people are confused by that.

Cars don't need 22" Rims either but there is a select few who will pay the cost to be the boss.
Women don't need weaves or relaxor but there is a select few who pay the cost to be the boss.
We don't need to drink Blue Label Hennesy but like I said there is a select few.

Others play the sidelines & either admire or hate or both.
Luxury isn't a neccesity but people like me just gotta have it.

This wont take off until next generation. The cost is way too high...especially if you just bought a new TV in the past 2 years or so.

If you look back through history it comes and goes, I mean in the 50's it was basic, then in the 80's they improved it and now they improved it again. I just did a little research for a paper and HDTV was around in the 1980's and was viable in the 1990's really. However even now in 2010 there is only a 60% attach rate to HDTV's. Meaning their is still 40% of people using regular televisions.
This was one of the reasons they held off the digital conversion for so long and probably didn't hold it off long enough for some areas.
I tend to get headaches watching 3-D material, so I doubt I ever get a 3-DTV no matter how cheap they are.
Honestly I don't see 3-D as being for the average person, like I wouldn't come home from School or Work and pop on my 3-D glasses to enjoy television or movies. I know it's just an option, but sometimes I feel like were being forced into it.

Not getting one anytime soon. I'm not paying 3000 dollars for a freaking TV. And I'm very happy with my HDTV for now. Maybe in 2 years when thay decrease the 3DTVs to a reasonable price!

Companies are very good at imposing technoogy on us and we as the consumer have no choice but to adopt it. This is especially true when a large group of market leaders all back the same technology - 3D is one such case.

Every tech company has decided for us that 3D is the way to go and it is only a matter of time before we adopt it. The same happened with Blu Ray - Sony garnered enough support from film studios and the industry has decided for us that blu ray will be the standard cd medium, which means we all need bl ray players whether we like it or not!
