GameZone: inFamous 2 Behind Closed Doors E3 Demonstration

"Even though the demonstration was ridden with framerate problems, the level of detail and destruction was a sight to behold. As McGrath chased down a new villain named Bertrand (think Senator Robert Kelly from the X-Men franchise), it was clearly evident that monsters and the mutants that plague the city are going to play a central role in the narrative."

Playing through inFamous 1 now - great game.

Lou-Cipher5807d ago

Yeah, it was a great game. I even liked it better than Uncharted 2.

I am bothered by the changes in style to the new Infamous though. I hope they didn't mess up that gritty superhero feel the first one had.

If they dont bring back the soundtrack for the 2nd one I will really be pi$$ed. I am so terrified of what they may have done to the franchise. :(

Lionhead5807d ago (Edited 5807d ago )

First game was great.

Wasn't AMAZING like other PS3 exclusives IMO but it was a great title and a better package than Prototype (it's competition).

I honestly like the new look tbh

Cole was always this very angry person in the first game, you can understand why but he was just always angry and I honestly disliked the voicing for him. I don't much care for the new voice, but I understand why they needed to redesign him though and I appreciate Sucker Punch for listening to fans and actually DOING a sequel.

That's why I don't understand the hate behind the next game in the franchise. You should be grateful the developers are taking another crack at the IP and ramping it up to be even better. Most developers never provide sequels to some games. Sure most games don't NEED sequels but if its a great game, you know fans will want more =D

acedoh5807d ago

is coming because the original sold over 2 million copies. That is usually a pretty strong indication of a coming sequel. Please don't act like Sucker Punch is coming out with a sequel because they are doing it for the fans. This is a business...

HighDefinition5807d ago

The best thing about Infamous is....it`s the best superhero game ever made and it didn`t need a licence. Suckerpunch should do a Spiderman game, just to show these fools how it done....properly.

HighDefinition5807d ago

I love my InFamous Platinum trophy.......

"The best thing about Infamous is....it`s the best superhero game ever made and it didn`t need a licence."

Didn't Batman: AA get a Guiness World Record award for being the most critically acclaimed superhero game ever?

http://www.giantbomb.com/ba...

I'm not here to troll and I can't judge Infamous 1 since all I've played was the demo, but the demo had a lot of technical flaws to warrant a purchase from me at the time(jaggy graphics, Cole was a little too sticky at times, character animations and lip syncing were subpar). However, Infamous 2 certaintly looks like it has fixed these problems and its a DAY 1 buy from me since the core gameplay of Infamous 1 was pretty darn entertaining. It'll definetly give Batman: AA 2 a run for its money.

STICKzophrenic- Being the most crtically acclaimed superhero game means nothing? Ummm..okay. Anyways, I'm not here to hate on Infamous 1, I just haven't played the full game, so I can only judge on what I've played from the demo. However, if most critics are saying that game A is better than game B, odds are, they could be right. Right now, I'm trying to decide if I'm getting Infamous 1 or Batman AA: GOTY edition.

STICKzophrenic5807d ago

They created a category to give to Batman. Really, it means next to nothing.

WLPowell5807d ago

1)We get it, someone praised a PS3 exclusive and it fucked your day up...
2)Batman's not a superhero. High def's observation is still correct. AA is probably the best comic book game, but there's no sense of feeling like a superhero to be found.

extermin8or5807d ago

I think it got the award for best licensed superhero game as already mentioned infamous had no license it was a completely new design

LoVeRSaMa5807d ago

How did you play the infamous demo on the 360? O_o

STICKzophrenic5807d ago

"Being the most crtically acclaimed superhero game means nothing?"

I'm not saying that. I'm, saying that they created the "Guinness Record" for Batman AA. Tell me before this year where that record was. It didn't exist. There was no standard that the game had to meet.

That would be like me coming up with some obscure "feat", being the first to do it and brag because I was in the Guinness World Records.

among the best game last year IMO! the changes are significant but the details in the screenshots are amazing! I don't really care for the changes as long as they keep the story's continuity from the 1st game! CAN7T FRICKIN WAIT!

btw, do we have a release date yet?

HolaTarola5807d ago

Wow, Blaze929 finally got a PS3? What happened with the MDF? lol, I love when fanboys are converted. :)

ThanatosDMC5806d ago

Yeah, he finally got one after trolling for so long. I was surprised too.

MNicholas5807d ago

The level of detail was far better than GTA or Prototype.

The videos for the sequel, however, are so much better than the original that I wonder if they're even using the same engine or perhaps have leased the one from Naughty Dog.

Hopefully we'll find out soon.

ThanatosDMC5806d ago (Edited 5806d ago )

Yeah, i guess i'll finish it whenever my clanmates and other SVER buddies stop asking me to fight with them.

Does anybody know how to make Cole get DT (Devil Trigger) faster so i can have unlimited powers for a while?

PM me please if there's a way to just have unlimited electricity powers later on as an unlockable after finishing the game. Also, if i finish the game, do i keep all the powers that i've unlocked say for a new game +?

UndeadAreGo5807d ago

Never played the first. I was sick of the strict good/evil bit, and inFamous seemed like a prime example. I want middle-ground, grey areas.

mistermostyn5807d ago

People really should stop bitching about the design changes.

Come on, they're aesthetic alterations. As long as the gameplay appeal remains the same, who cares if Cole looks or sounds a bit different.

I for one thought the main failing of inFamous was that it looked -- and sounded -- rough around the edges. Seems to me that inFamous 2 deals with that issue.

Overall, I'm fine with it.

I just hope Sucker Punch reduces the 'magnetic' effect when Cole is climbing down buildings.

SOAD5807d ago

Lmao. In another thread you were saying, "Who cares about custom soundtracks? Only the core features matter."

Well, to me, the game's art style and character voice are core aspects of a game. So I think people have a valid reason to care.

mistermostyn5806d ago (Edited 5806d ago )

Um, yeah... and I'm saying the exact same thing here.

The core gameplay in inFamous was its sandbox navigation, which the first game pretty much nailed. Who cares if the sequel's design has been changed/improved as long as the sandbox action is still awesome?

The artisic changes people are bitching about here amount to little more than a re-skinning due to improved developer focus -- probably because inFamous is now an established franchise, not a risky new IP.

End of the day, any fan of the original WILL play the sequel, so let's stop moaning and just be happy Sony has given Sucker Punch the opportunity to create, and given gamers the opportunity to step into Cole's shoes again.

I want it too. Make it co-op as well.

-Foxtrot1086d ago

Yeah they had a lightning bolt in the shape of a question mark at the end of Infamous 2

They always went off the good ending for Cole so I think for Delsin it should be the bad ending

What he did in the bad ending, absorbing everyone’s powers, seemed like he was going to turn into something powerful.

Makes you feel like he could have been the real Beast and John was just an anomaly because of them messing with time

Sets up a Cole vs Delsin showdown

lukasmain1086d ago

How would fans feel about a reboot? You know to bring a new audience in? Not a good idea? Good idea?

anast1085d ago

Not a god idea. They let it sit for too long and the game hasn't been strong enough to carry itself all these years. There is so much other stuff out there right now.

masterfox1086d ago

Second Son was released in 2014 was an amazing game visually and gameplay wise, sometimes I play it again on the PS5 and seeing it run at 60 fps is something to behold(yes an almost 10 year old game), if you haven't done that on your PS5 try it you won't be disappointed, pure eye candy, a PS5 exclusive of Infamous would be amazing no doubt.

gold_drake1086d ago

meh, i want Cole to come back.

or maybe a reboot. with cole.

Older PlayStation games that we'd love to see on the PlayStation 5

From Xfire: "For a company with a three-decade-long history in gaming, Sony has done a crappy job at preserving its legacy. "

Flawlessmic1476d ago (Edited 1476d ago )

If the PC can emulate the PS3, then for sure the PS5 would be able to do same. but dose Sony want it?

Mr Logic2138d ago

If there was money in it, then Sony would do it. People can bitch and moan all they want, but even if every person on this site used BC, that would still be a tiny fraction of gamers. Almost nobody really uses BC.

DethWish2138d ago (Edited 2138d ago )

I think there would be money if they made PS3 games downloadable through PSNow and added a bunch more.
Edit: I would get it if MGS4 was available

Mr Logic2138d ago

@DethWish

That would be an emulator. You're not making any sense.

DethWish2138d ago

Mr Logic, really? If PS5 could emulate PS3 games (BC) and PSNow would let you download and play PS3 games locally instead of streaming (like it lets you download PS4 games), wouldn't that be awesome? PSNow has some really interesting PS3 games, but I'd prefer to play them locally

MadLad2138d ago

Really?
Remasters of popular games do extremely well. MS basically hands them out for free. If people didn't want to play older games, then why do remasters sell so well?

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 2138d ago
anonymousfan2138d ago

I honestly would probably never ever use it... But I still think it would be pretty neat. Its one of the few avantages PC still has on console that is complete backwards compatibility. But for all the work needed to implement this I doubt it would be worth Sony's time.

Melankolis2138d ago

In my opinion.
The difference is independent emulator developer can build any emulator as an experiment that will be perfected for years, maybe more than 10 years. During that time, expect many glitch, bugs, and updates. They can do that because they do not have any obligation towards PC users or whatsoever.

Fos Sony, once they announce PS5 will be able to play PS3 games, they have to make it safe and playable for users. They do not want the emulator cause bricks, glitch, heating up or anything to the consoles and get sued for that.

Harkins17212138d ago

The amount of work it would require sony for each game probably isn't worth it. Maybe after rpcs3 is done they can patent it and use it. That's the dream lol

This has been going on for years any full game playable yet

EazyC2138d ago

Wish I never sold my PS3 for MGS IV alone, I'm dying to play it again

Gamerking822138d ago (Edited 2138d ago )

Any ps3 owner has too own this masterpiece . My disk drive has just gone on my old super slim . So I bought the digital version no questions ask . If you have a ps3 own this masterpiece that’s all I can say . I replay it every year and still find loads of enjoyment . The last true metal gear in my opinion . V was good and gameplay amazing , but it’s just not a metal gear quality story wise .
