Proof Gaming Doesn't Promote Violence

These days, when anything to do with violence makes it to the press, it is immediately blamed on Gaming. For example, just today news has been flying around the internet about a boy accidently hanging himself with his Xbox 360 wires, but of course it had no direct relation with gaming itself. Of course, headlines by all the major news outlets are being exploited and exaggerated so that at first glance, it seems it was because of the Xbox 360 that he hung himself - which isnt true; it was just a tragic, and rare accident.

Now, on a more brighter note, an interesting revelation has come to pass that suggests gaming isn't a source for all the violence and hatred in this world.

saw this on reddit...so simple and true...yet it takes something like a common sense statement to show how the media is built upon hypocrisy

As true at it is, video games still are influential amongst gamers, children especially.

This is also not technically proof, but evidence that video games are not as bad as some may make it out to be.

It's a lot like marijuana. It's deemed so bad that it's illegal, yet it's much less harmful (if at all) than cigarettes and alcohol.

I don't really see the media attacking the industry. Funnily enough, we say the media paints us one way and by doing that we pay the media one way too. They attack violent games like GTA, and there are reasonable grounds to criticize games like that, but I've never seen them rationally dismiss all games as violent or evil.

I think they just want better restriction for violent games, not necessarily to take them away. It's very easy to get your hands on violent games and this IS something that should concern people even just a little bit.

So true right? How many fights at E3?

sumo311 is a dupe account of ConnorSmith. Just look at his post history. Reported to the mods for using a dupe account to pad your heat.

But it just goes to show how retarded sports fans can be. Especially basketball. Every time the NBA finals comes around the winning team's fans fuck their city by being so happy. I've never understood how breaking shit is analogous to being happy, especially when you're breaking your own shit.

But if there is a cause for violence in the media, it's TV and movies. Almost every single movie that involves any action ends when the good guy kills the bad guy. Even in Disney movies, good triumphs over evil and evil is vanquished (killed). Then you look at shows like 24 where on average of 5-10 people are killed every episode.

People need to fucking relax about games.

It is so common, kiling I mean, in TV/Movies that you don't really even notice when it happens, it is just another thing.

Odd how bad it has gotten, or maaybe not necassarily bad, but definitely not good!

The crowd at E3 were calm geeky video game professionals looking at future video game releases. The crowd at the game were worked up basketball fans watching a final game. Huge difference.

E3 = Biggest Gaming Event
NBA Finals = Biggest Basketball Event

Just goes to show you...

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
