After so much buzz about this feature, it will probably be the first thing they implement in the PS4^^

Xgame chat is the new Backwards Compatability. It's kind of not as important anymore. Sure we still would like it, but it's not the deciding factor anymore.

BTW on features: MLB.TV is free this weekend and it's the first time I got to check it out. It's really cool. I'm not a huge baseball fanatic, but he games are HD and On Demand. Plus you can watch it through the cameras that focus on the team you like more. It's cool to see and hear the shots and commentaries from different angles/perspectives. Makes me more excited about ESPN on Xbox Live. I hope more sports channel apps or channels in general come to PSN. Hopefully it will be free with PSN+

I dont get why its an important feature nonetheless i guess it would be nice to have. When im playing killzone with my friends we all talk shit to each other in the room. I just dont see myself wanting to talk with them while we are playing different games.

It remains a major stumbling block in the minds of many apparently but at the same time provides a convenient and last hurdle by comparison for that reason alone.

Been waiting for this for a while now, Sony had to start from scratch which takes time. If MS didn't own the rights it could have been here by now. IMO I think cross game chat will be here by fall to combat whatever MS has to offer with their update.

horrid way the current in game chat sounds? No offense but if the cross party chat is just a bunch of people sounding like the Burger King Drive through guy then I'll pass. The Voice chat servers are severely lacking IMHO.
Let's not forget, were still waiting for the "Final version of Home". So I wont hold my breath on this voice chat stuff. Maybe if Sony gave away Headsets to people, the chat would be better? I don't know but the way it is now, you have people with Blu Tooth, USB, cheap headsets, it's just a mixed mash of crud and it's bad.

You kids make a big deal over this crap. I don't care if you want to talk while playing, I'd rather you all shut the hell up, unless you are playing as a team and that already works just fine. How can you immerse yourself in a game if you have a so called friend yapping in your ear? It isn't needed and the majority doesn't want it, so there isn't a rush.

On XBL, X-game chat is built into the NETWORK ARCHITECTURE....not into individual games.

As I stated numerous times; PSN does NOT have the network architecture to support x-game chat.

I mean really! Do u think it would take a big company like Sony, so many YEARS to implement such a simple feature, if the network structure was already there??

I hardly use it on Xbox to begin with; however, I would really love to know what is taking them so long to implement it. I mean, if rumors are anything to go by, this feature should have been here in 2009. Some PS3 owners have wanted it for literally years now.

I truly do not understand the big deal with this. I dont give a damn if its implemented or not, but I dont get why its so important to everyone. Why is it so important to talk to people while youre gaming? Can I get an intelligent, truthful answer without the usual bullsh*t about not having friends? If I'm playing multiplayer, I want to concentrate on what I'm doing and communicate with my actual team. If I'm playing single player, I dont want to be bothered or distracted. Why can't you use your phone to talk to friends? It seems like people want it just to want it, just because the 'other guys' have it, just because. To say things like its holding back PS3 or whathaveyou, means this is something bigger than it is. Why is that?

I dont really care for crossgame chat, mainly because 80% of the time I'm listening to a podcast while gaming, unless it's a game with audio ques that i need to listen for, or has an awesome soundtrack or lots of cutscenes or one of my team mates have headsets, in which case I have a podcast in one ear, headset on the other.

Theres normally some ppl with headsets online, when crossgame chat comes in, we'll see even less :/

we have been asking for cross game voice chat for a few years now. I am a sony fan, no question about it, but sometimes they really piss me off. I was really hoping they would have announced this at the press conference

I do wonder if the amount of usage people will get from cross game chat will really measure up to the whinging they have done to get it.

I figure it is a bit like when the kid next door gets a trampoline; you absolutely have to have one and you wont stop until you get it but when it arrives you just kinda don't really use it as much as you thought; the feeling of someone else having it has perverted your own sense of necessity.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
