Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo all brought their "A" games. The IGN editors debate who came out on top in one of the best E3s to date.

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.
Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
Nintendo - 8/10 - Generally consistent, some excellent titles, lack of new IPs
Sony - 7/10 - erratic conference, big surprises, too many compilation videos, ton of content
Microsoft - 5/10 - too casual-orientated, way too flashy, not enough original titles, scripting was evident, a few great moments
Nintendo won in my eyes. They did something that I had forgotten they were capable of doing, and that was show off good games. I was really expecting a ton of shovelware to be shown, but instead we got a look into a bunch of quality Nintendo Titles. Hell, there was barely any shovelware shown from Nintendo this year, which is simply amazing.
Sony comes in second, they had a very good E3, but it wasn't much of a shocker aside from Gabe and Twisted Metal. I understand that they needed to put Move information out there, and that's why all of the other games had been leaked out so early, but overall their E3 was entertaining to watch. I was also very surprised by the timed exclusivity from Sony, I really hope they will still push out quality first-party exclusives instead of trying to secure third-party exclusivity.
Microsoft had the weakest of the conferences. They showed off 3 games that everyone has known about for a while, and even then it seemed like they just threw Halo/Gears/Fable to the side to make room for Kinect. Hell, they didn't even have the time to show Crackdown 2 at all. No idea what I think about kingdoms, could be interesting but ATM there is no information on it. I understand that Microsoft is trying to push Kinect, and hell I'd say they did a pretty good job in advertising it so far. The downside is that the Kinect push is detrimental to the "core" 360 audience, as I'm sure everyone except die-hard microsoft fanboys felt underwhelmed by the conference. I hope they are able to balance Kinect and hardcore games, because a Kinect-dominated xbox seems gloomy.
i liked sony's conference.
Can't be bothered to watch the video. Somebody who watched, would you please summarize and say who they said "won"? Please?
I dont know who won, but I can tell you who lost ;)
