PS+ - Hitting Stride or Missing the Mark?

I wrote an article a week ago analyzing the features users have been pining for in a possible Playstation premium service. The millions of hopes and wishes within the PSN community lay in the hands of Sony, and during their E3 press conference, we were indeed given a glimpse of a paid subscription service to be released at the tail end of the month, more specifically June 29, and has been given the label of PS+. But we are left wondering whether there may be more underneath the surface, and if the true value is worth the price....

Wish we could have been given more with a paid subscription, but I feel there will be more features and have a feeling we aren't far off from Cross-game chat.

When Xbox Live launched, it wasn't anywhere close to the product that it is now. So just give Sony some time and they'll get the job done.

And remember. Xbox Live started in 2001. PSN started in 2006.

Yeah because Microsoft had all the content they have now when they first launched Xbox Live, am I right?

Haters hitting stride or missing the mark? It's the latter, and you all fail very bad.

BeaArthur5729d ago

Not everything Sony does is the greatest thing ever. The sooner you realize that the less bitter you will be.

I don't think they are missing the mark because you still get to play for free if you want. I don't think what they are offering is worth what you pay for it but it is optional so those who want it can have it and those who don't can stick with what we have now.

The most important thing is that online play is still free so no one is being forced to subscribe. Everything in Plus is extra and the free games alone could be used to justify the price for many.

@ipwnall

The excuses need to stop. Xbox Live competes with PSN, today. If you want to play online games, Xbox Live Gold was always the best option, even if you need to pay $50/yr.

PSN Plus is garbage. Stop dumpster diving.

Meodia_Art5729d ago

Sorry sir, I'm going to have to disagree with you. Microsoft is a software company, Sony is a hardware company. You can tell that by looking at the consoles. Sony's done so much more and is now so close to Microsoft in terms of online. Browser does 50% of Xbox capabilities and more. So yea...

"And remember. Xbox Live started in 2001. PSN started in 2006. "

Yeah so Sony shouldn't have had an excuse to implement X game chat. It's been close to 4 years now, and Sony already knew about the competition. There is no excuse for Sony.

@Colonel killzone
They already did Surveys before PS+ was announced. They saw what the gamers wanted the most, and guess what it was!? YEP THAT'S IT! X game chat! So where in the hell is it Sony?.....lmao. These guys never stop beating around the bush.

It's hitting the stride. Sure, not a lot of features that we were hoping for, but it's worth the price in my eyes.

dktxx25729d ago

Free games every month? That alone validates the price. But full game trials and discounts? thats just icing.

tplarkin75729d ago

You'll be paying for "free games" that you won't like. Even if you have a choice in picking the games. You have game trials and discounts already.

Inane_Asylum5729d ago

I'm not totally sure I'm sold. It totally depends on how the three-month trial treats me...

AntBoogy905729d ago

and another thing that kinda makes me hesitate is that you have to be a Playstation Plus member . . to keep whatever you get. If you were to stop the subscription, anything you've gotten from Playstation Plus you won't be able to use anymore . . i believe those were the words out of the CEO's mouth on E3.

moodymofo5729d ago (Edited 5729d ago )

i didnt understand it to be a 3 month trial and i may be wrong but i understood it to be 3 months free and you get those free 3 months when you buy a 12 month subscription giving you 15 months for the price of 12

Konami Delists Some Metal Gear Games From Digital Stores Without Warning

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD have been delisted from digital stores without warning.

cloganart3d ago

I mean, it makes sense. With Vol.2 coming and all that

Stupid headline. Should state that they are being updated or discontinued. This makes the crazy people that only read headlines think it some kind of conspiracy to take away peoples already purchased games.

jjb19813d ago

If you want to all of a sudden own them now and haven't played them yet because a remastered is coming out, shame on you. I can't believe people are complaining about this 15 years later when it was bound to happen anyway. "A new remaster is out, quick, I'd better buy the original from the shop."

gigoran82d ago

Gamers: "Physical? who needs physical? everyone knows that digital online games are the future. stop living in the past. we don't need no stinking disc drive"

Same gamers: "How dare the delist a digital game that I own!!!!"

computeSci2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

And? What is your point?

Same gamers: "How dare the retailers to delist (quit selling) a physical game that I own!!!!"

I think you just read the headline and don't know how dilisting works with Sony. It's common knowledge that:

"Players who already bought the games will still have them in their library and can download and play them as usual."

So again, what is your point?
