Nintendo has proved that we're ready. Sony is a bit early with "home theater 3D", but that's coming soon, too.

Cloudberry5864d ago (Edited 5864d ago )

Ready or not...

3D's still coming, lol.

BulletToothtony5864d ago (Edited 5864d ago )

nope, even thou it was clear that it was a new technology in the right direction... but that didn't stop the media to hate on it before they saw how good it was because they didn't have the hdtvs in their house..

People without HDTVs said over and over.. bluray sucks.. the grass looks greener and that's it.. it's not needed.

Now people without 3DTVs say.. 3d sucks.. it looks the lame, it's not needed

3DTV's will replace all HDTVs in a few months and people will buy them without even knowing that they're 3d and sony as always will have the lead in technology..

and these poor "journalists" will still hate on sony and on anything that they can't afford like apple.

HighDefinition5864d ago

Soon "being a gamer is having a ridiculously huge 3D tv in a one room apartment" will be the modo.

sikbeta5864d ago (Edited 5864d ago )

Ready or Not 3D is here to stay

And for the People against it, you need to get that when 3DTVS sales start go up, the prices of HDTVS will go down, so you'll get cheaper HDTVS thanks to this new Technology, then when your HDTVS die, you'll end up buying 3DTVS [BUT] you still be using it as 2D-HDTV...

Panthers5864d ago

They said the same thing about blu-ray and even DVD when the PS2 launched. Sony sees tech trends before they happen and capitalizes. Its called progressive thinking.

cyborg69715864d ago

I'm ready my wallet is not.

Alcon Caper5864d ago

3D will only be adopted widely when they mass produce glassesless 3D TVs.

talltony5864d ago

the 3d tvs right now are already old technology. I will be first in line for this tv. Its coming out in 2 years or less.

I like how peoples main argument against 3D is the few people who can run it... Not everyone has HD, and 20 years ago no one did yet they developed for HD and we benefited from it. IS 3d THE FUTURE? I don't know, but it sounds cool.

cayal5864d ago

It is pretty cool, I've been able to play Wipeout HD and Super Stardust in 3D.

sikbeta5864d ago (Edited 5864d ago )

3D is not the Future, 3D is NOW! and people against it will end up buying 3DTVS even if they don't want [BUT] they'll have the choice to still using it as a 2D-HDTV

3D Gaming FTW!!!

trounbyfire5864d ago (Edited 5864d ago )

yeah we are and who was the main company behind them......SONY so STFU about 3D if you don't like it then fine but its coming and sony will not look back

more people own SDTV yet most games are mad in HD

ravinash5864d ago

No ones going to buy it if you don't make in.
there will always be a period where you have to wait for the uptake.

sikbeta5864d ago

That's True, people all over the world didn't switch to HDTV, so they definitely will go for 3DTVS, when HDTVS will be completely Replaced by this NEW TVS and Sony is Pushing it with the Support of the Whole Electronic Industry + Movie Industry + Broadcasting and so on...

Chris3995864d ago (Edited 5864d ago )

I have one (though won't be getting the glasses for another month or so), and it costs about the same as a new high-end LCD - the only extra is for the glasses. Not to mention that these sets are all about 240 hz, 2ms response time, and tend to have the best picture quality and color saturation around as well as movement enhancing/ smoothing tech (Samsung, at least).

Even without the 3D function, the t.v. itself is freakn' amazing for gaming. Prettiest set I've ever owned - my games have NEVER looked so good.

That was a relative waste of tech on someone who is (likely) a troll. But whatever.

sam22365864d ago

LOL, I'm a troll because I'm not buying into the whole 3D fad?

Cool logic, man.

Chris3995864d ago (Edited 5864d ago )

Every major electronics maker IN THE WORLD is backing the tech. Stereoscopic 3D won't be around forever (eventually replaced by auto-stereoscopic tech), but 3D itself is here to stay. It's as much of a fad as blu-ray or HD were years ago. And you sound just as ridiculous as those anachronistic pundits becrying: "we don't need the tech!"

And this is the second 3D article I've seen you post in within a span of a couple minutes; basically another one liner about how "lame" or "gimmicky" the tech is.

So yeah, you're a troll. Confirmed.

sam22365864d ago

What the hell are you on about?!! Only Sony, Nintendo and James Cameron are up in this 3D bullshit. It's a fad. It was years ago and it is now.

The only reason why it has gotten so popular again is because of Avatar. You may not have noticed, but every movie that came out after Avatar has been in, or re-mastered and re-released in, 3D.

Oh and do you always stalk the people that disagree with you or am I the first?

Chris3995864d ago

I popped into another article moments later, and there you were rambling off again about 3D.

That aside, you really have no idea what you're talking about. Yeah, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Sony, Paramount, Disney, and EVERY OTHER MANUFACTURER/ PRODUCER OF MEDIA AND CONSUMER ELECTRONICS, they're all wrong and you are right.

Thank you, mighty troll for all your wisdom. For showing me the light. I'm going to go take a hammer to my 750 Samsung now, because of your great insight.

/s

Really, get a grip. Your (and my, for that matter) opinion is rather worthless in the grand scheme of things. People will buy what the market leaders TELL them to buy. And right now, that's 3D. So 5 years down the road, when 3D adoption is about the same as HD adoption is right now, you can start a new song and dance about how useless "this" tech or "that" tech is.

Till then, shut up.

@snp (2 posts down)

You're right that plasmas are also great TVs, just depends who you ask. ;) I probably prefer LED but Panasonic's V-series Plasmas are amazing.

And you're probably getting Disagrees because the TVs you linked to aren't SONY. Anyone with TV knowledge would know both Samsung and Panasonic televisions out-do Sony's any day.

insomnium5864d ago

You are trolling if you find it neccesary to come to these threads and say nothing but bad things about it. I find it unbelievable for someone to be against improvements in tech. I mean what's the catch? What's there to benefit if tech does NOT improve? That's why you come off as a troll since fanboyism seems to not be the case. How can anyone be a fanboy against improvement?

I agree with you sam2236. 3D is a gimmick and I'll keep saying that. I work with 3D TVs and I honestly don't see it as more of a "cool" thing the 1st time people see it. Once you've seen it people complain about having to wear the glasses and the weird "flickering" the active shutter glasses do.

Honestly, if you love your PS3 boys don't get into a hissy fit that a technology they're trying to push isn't exactly the best. They're not the innovators of 3D nor are they the only ones pushing it. If you also want the best 3D technology, go buy a Samsung LED 3D TV as they can't be beat for image quality.

I'd recommend the Samsung Plasma for half the price. LED's aren't as good with motion, and come a cropper (v Plasma's) on 3d especially (cross talk problems).

(Could post a bunch more - everyone is pretty much saying the same thing - but two will do.)

ed:Disagree? Strange. Could have sworn i've provided links there with objective 3rd party reviews... Hell, you can go to any and every AV forum on the web and they'll pretty much say the same thing.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Unless there's some contrary proof out there?

Why not. Here's another review:

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8572d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele71d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk71d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay71d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10172d ago (Edited 72d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit71d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg71d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10171d ago (Edited 71d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14971d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle84d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker85d ago (Edited 85d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit84d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog85d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_85d ago (Edited 85d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog85d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad85d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_85d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage85d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda84d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
